Cursed (Brides of the Kindred Series #13) by Evangeline Anderson

Commander Stavros Rii of the Kindred is a Sin Eater--thick black lines cover his back and neck causing him to feel the pain of others. It is a curse that threatens to shorten his life and makes him unable to bond with a female--not that he's ever found one he wants to bond with. Until he meets Charlie.

Charlie Sayers is an agent with the Earth Protection Bureau-- and anti Kindred agency dedicated to ridding the world of the big aliens. Charlie joined the EPB out of a sense of patriotism but she has her own reasons to hate the Kindred.

But she has bigger problems than the Kindred at the moment--the Enhanced Ones have come to Earth and they're planning to take over the planet, enslave the inhabitants and strip them of all emotion. Charlie can't have that so she agrees to go undercover with Stavros to find the Heart of Love--an artifact which can destroy their mutual enemy forever.

On their dangerous and difficult mission, Charlie learns that going undercover with your worst enemy can rapidly turn him into your best friend...or your lover. Can she hold on to her beliefs and stay true to herself, or will she lose her heart to Stavros? And even if she gives in to desire, will Stav be able to bond her to him?
Or are they Cursed to be apart forever?

I really enjoyed this book of the Kindred series. Charlie is a very strong and capable character, and Stavros was one of the sweetest heroes that I've read in a long time. Charlie - due to past experience - is not fond of the Kindred as a whole, and Stavros has believed through out his life that he is unable to take a mate. Regardless of that, he is so sweet and protective toward Charlie that it brought tears to my eyes several times. When they come together, not only does it become a battle of wills, it ends up being an explosive combination of chemistry. I really loved this one in the series, because of the way Ms. Anderson combined the sweet, protective Stavros with the strong, stubborn Charlie. I definitely find it to be worth every penny. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

***ARC was received in exchange for an honest review*** I cannot say anything bad about Evangeline Anderson.  Her ability to write and create far away, mystical galaxies, gorgeous, virile aliens, and plot lines that suck the reader in and dream about falling in love with a big Kindred warrior is AMAZING!! LOL I distinctly remember reading Enhanced and the first few chapters of Cursed thinking “it would be cool if XYZ happened” and there I had my theory! I told Evangeline on Facebook that I had a theory but wouldn’t expose it in public…so we communicated offline. Fast Forward to reading Cursed and the theory was in there!  How amazing did that whole plot and background story work!  She is capable of creating a fantasy world so vividly that you can picture it clear as day in your mind.  Charlotte a.k.a. Charlie is a stubborn human female on the task force to protect Earth from the Kindred (if you read Enhanced then you know why).  Stavros a.k.a. Stav is the “cursed” Kindred warrior who is destined to live a short life.  Thrown together in an impossible situation with the most unlikely allies, Charlotte and Stavros must find a way to save Earth and the Kindred from the Dark Kindred a.k.a. The Enhanced One of Zeaga Four.   Stubborn Charlotte, stubborn, stubborn, Charlotte!  I wanted to scream at her.  But eventually she came around to see the Kindred warriors aren’t the bad guys.  Stavros must learn to believe to enjoy every moment there is left to enjoy without depriving himself one second longer. The push and pull between these two was intense, and meaningful.  They both help each other to overcome fears of the what ifs.   As I said before I cannot say enough good things about Evangeline.  I’m not the biggest Sci-Fi kind of individual but I will read any Sci-Fi book this woman shares with the world.

Cursed in love! Fast paced adventure and steamy romance make this a wonderful new addition to the Brides of Kindred series. Filled with non stop action and a thrilling mystery, you wont want to miss Stavros and Charlie's story. Finally a kindred with long hair and tattoos to drool over! I was also really excited to see more of the girls lives and Kat especially. I hope to continue to learn more about Shadow and the twins in further books.  Charlie is a take no prisoners kinda gal and teaming up with her sworn enemy is probably one of the toughest jobs she has ever had to do. I really liked this girl and her attitude, although her stubbornness with Stavros can be a bit frustrating. She is a wonderfully kind and loyal woman, but because of her past has made Stavros and those like him her enemy. The goddess works in strange ways, however, and I had a great time watching her fall hopelessly for Stavros. Stavros is cursed, but unlike most he does no let this stop him from living life. On the contrary this makes him more determined than ever to do what he can while he can. To make the world better for everyone and make the most of his life on earth is his ultimate goal. I really respected his bravery and determination. It takes a brave man to overcome their fear and push, especially with such a crippling ability. He was just as stubborn as Charlie in the romance department, but even he cannot deny the sparks flying between them.  The romance as always was one of the best yet and was nicely paced. I love the buildup between these two and it makes it that much better when they finally come together. I also love how the world building in this series become more and more complex and interesting. There is always something new to discover in the world of the Kindred. How can love prevail when you life has been Cursed? Read the newest book in the Kindred series to find out!

Read all of the books and did not get tired of reading about the Kindred and their mates. Each story was spun in it's own unique way. I just coudn't get enough of them! Felt it was a great way to escape reality for a moment. I can definitely see myself reading this series again at a later date! Kudos to the author, job well done!

This book is sooo much better than most of the others. It is a good story, it does not rush to an ending, even though it ends with the same 'happily bonded' and all is well formula of the other books. I really enjoyed this one, hopefully #14 will be as good.

So far, I've read all of the Kindred series. Some I read more quickly than others, but they were all 5 star books. Cursed, however, was very hard to get into. If you've read the previous books you'll understand right away why Charlie is the way she is, but even that doesn't help. She is so hateful that it makes her a very difficult character to relate to or sympathize with. I was hoping she would get past her antipathy much sooner, but I'm more than halfway through the  book and sadly, I'm not sure I'll even finish it. I love Ms. Anderson's writing style, especially how she keeps the character's from previous books in the new book. It's almost like a soap opera! I'll be reading the next book, but I'd recommend skipping this one and just finding a summary for it.

One of my top 5 erotica series favorites of all time! I've read close to 2000 erotica titles so that's really saying something. You'll love these characters and this story and will hardly be able to wait for more.
