***Review is for A.J. Flowers' 'Daughter of Dragons'. Will update as I read the other stories in this set. This is a very addicting read! It’s in the perspective of a sixteen year old girl who is mature, wise beyond her years, and has good values so she’s easy to relate to and root for. We see her both in the day-to-day life of normal sixteen year-old and struggling to figure out who and what she is as she uncovers that there’s more that meets the world than just … humans. The writing is really well done. Cover is gorgeous and professional and completely fitting of the story. Character development is fairly advanced with some complex relationships and individuals and editing/proofing-wise, it’s mostly clean. I had a hard time putting this down. I skip around and read 100 different books simultaneously, depending on my mood and this is the one I kept going back to for a couple days until I’d finished it. It’s suspenseful and has a good amount of action and mystery throughout. The protagonist is a strong, badass teenage girl who is destined to “choose a side”. Maybe she’ll choose right, maybe she won’t, or maybe she’ll do her own thing - I won’t spoil it, but it’s really well done. 4 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a smorgasbord of fantastic fantasy, supernatural, paranormal and dystopian books all in one place. I love these genre’s and hadn’t read any of the authors work before except Kristin.B. McMicheal Her Novella Loving the Legend was great, I had actually read The Legend of Blue Eyes, so this was a great prequel to a fantastic series that can be read at any time. My next favourite was a book by Claire Luna called Orion’s Kiss. Talk about emotional. A young girl with an old soul that carry’s the curse of watching her sisters lives be taken in every new life she is reborn in to. Her and her sisters was cursed by Zeus to forever die in each and every lifetime they are reborn into. Mariah has visions but nothing she tries can change fate. She finally finds the killer Orion, who in this life is Ryan. This story is full of Mythology and constellations. They realise both have misunderstood each other’s reasons, & undertake a mission to stop the curse together. Mariah’s latest vision is heartbreaking and she and Ryan have to decide together if it is worth the price that will be paid if they go back to Olympia, to where it all started. Claire Luna wrote with passion, her research was admirable and her descriptions of plots and emotions was outstanding... I Believe there are many more to review in this box set, however I don’t want to spoil any of your time spent amongst its pages with spoilers.. I am so happy I decided to pre-order this box set, it was great value. I believe I have found a lot more authors that will be going onto my watch out for list, as I have become a fan of many. 100 % brilliant value box set. You will be transported into many different worlds, And loose hours of sleep, it is literally going to be the best introduction to new authors. Definitely recommended
I have only read Orion's Kiss so far, it is a wonderful story that weaves together reincarnation with Greek mythology to create a unique and interesting tale that keeps you spellbound until the end. If the other stories in the set are nearly as good it is a must buy.
**Orion's Kiss** Such an awesome and incredible story! A Greek Mythology with a 100 lifetimes worth of stories in one amazing adventure! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but it was fun, sweet and adventurous. Ryan and Mer totally make badass characters, along with Zoe and Brandon. The storyline was entertaining and the world building was part of the past and part of the present and so addicting. Truly a fascinating read!
This is a review for "Among Shadows" I absolutely loved Nina Walker's Color Alchemist series, and the prequel "Among Shadows" didn't disappoint. It tells the story of Tristan, a young man with anger issues who is just trying to find his way in a dystopian society with too many rules and too many secrets. Tristan finds himself face to face with powerful color magic, and a young girl who can control the most dangerous magic of all -- red magic. It's our first glimpse of Frankie, who becomes an important part of the main series. Do yourself a favor and read this prequel, and if you haven't read the Color Alchemist series, you should!
Cirque De La Lune by Emma Hamm Rated 3.5 Stars Cirque De La Lune is an intriguing tale about a group of outcasts in a traveling circus. I found the world it was set in very interesting as well as the characters but there were a few inconsistencies and repetition that kept drawing me out of the story. Other than that I thought it was a solid start to a new series that I'm interested in seeing where the author takes it.
This is a review for Cirque de la Lune by Emma Hamm. What an amazing and unique story! When Evelyn and her circus friends find a man washed up in the river, little did they know that rescuing him would not only safe his life, but change it in the best ways possible. As outcast they spend their days working for the ringmaster who does nothing to help them and everything to take advantage of them. Particularly, Evelyn. Frank Fairwell is not altogether a good man. He seems to have lost a bit of his humanity and in doing so has made some selfish decisions that eventually led to him being tossed for dead into the river. But as he begins to heal and slowly gets to know more about this unusual group of people, his outlook on life changes even as he finds the determination to do something more for his new friends. ”Each and every one of them were dear to Frank now. They’d saved his life and his soul. How could he not think of them with fondness? They cared for him, and he cared for them.” This story instantly pulled me in and as some of the mysteries surrounding the characters was slowly revealed, I was completely hooked and unable to set this book aside. My heart ached for Evelyn and all that she had endured and was somewhat still forced to endure as well as Frank and his moral awakening. These characters came to life for me and I loved the imagery this author created with the other fantastical characters that rounded out this story. Definitely an unusual read and a wonderful beginning to a new series. I can’t wait to see what this author will serve up to us next.
