The Red Man is coming ...

Five years after her sister disappeared, seventeen-year-old Adrienne finds the strength to return to her father’s home in New Orleans. But soon after she arrives, the mark of a curse appears on her, leaving her worried. Will she be the next victim of a four-hundred-year old family curse ... the next to be claimed by a serial killer roaming the back alleys of the city?

The day before his senior year begins, Jayden is given a skeleton key passed down through his family for generations -- a gruesome reminder of how his ancestors betrayed their own people and sold them into slavery. He doesn’t believe in the curse the key allegedly bears and puts it away with the intention of forgetting about its message. Until he meets Adrienne, a girl he’s compelled to for more reasons than her beauty.

He’s not the only one who notices her. A man in a skeleton mask and a voodoo gang member are also drawn to Adrienne. One is determined to protect her. The other intends to mislead her. Haunted by the mythical Red Man, all are connected to the ancient curse.

Can they overcome their misgivings about one another and prevent the dark prophecy looming over them? Or will they be lured away from each other by evil’s siren song?

Cursed by Lizzy Ford is a deep, dark look into the voodoo underworld. At its heart, it is a love story. A love story spanning, and cursing, many generations. But it is also about murder, mystery, and fear. A terrific way to begin a new series. I just love this stuff!

Cursed tells the tale of Voodoo magic, whether you believe in it or not is up to you. Jayden doesn't believe in it. He has been raised to think that it is all superstitious nonsense even though his family used to be one of the big four Voodoo families in New Orleans. Adrienne believes in it as spirits speak to her constantly and help her through her tarot cards. Rene also believes, as a gang member and someone who can see spirits, he'd be a fool not to. These three come together to try and find out the truth about Adrienne's sister, Therese, who disappeared 5 years ago. This story is intriguing and fresh in the knowledge of the Voodoo Gods, a pantheon that is very rarely visited. The story itself is interesting as Adrienne tries to figure out what has happened to her sister. There is a love triangle at the moment but who knows whether it will continue or not. It seemed a bit disjointed at times as Adrienne seemed to flip from one person to another but then she is only supposed to be 17. This is only book 1 in the series and I am certainly looking forward to the rest.

I read this book as a ARC I really liked the book before and I was wondering if she could change it too make it better and Lizzy Ford did. I think the book is really great and it flows a lot better. It is about a girl name Adrienne St Croix and how she is trying to find out what happend to her missing sister. She then finds out that her sister is not what she appears to be and may not be as innocent as she wants to believe she is. Then there is Rene who cares for his brother Jax but is concerned that he may be into dark magic that is way above his head. Then there is the curse. I am eagerly waiting for the next book.
