Overview

From one of the most prominent philosophical voices of the 20th century comes an exploration of the meaning, value, and application of morals in society. Jankélévitch explains morals as the horizon that defines human action, arguing that the essential question of Who am I? will always be followed by the question What should I do? Morality is understood as second nature, whether it contributes to an improvement on traditional social conventions or a rejection of them. This approach and others are developed by Jankélévitch in this philosophy course, taught in 1962 and transcribed by one of his students.
