Robert Young was born in Burton-on-Trent in England as the oldest of three brothers. After becoming a christian at the age of 11 he wanted to serve the Lord in any way he could such as in his school or in youth work. He got baptized at 15 and preached for the first time at the age of 16. He wanted to become a missionary but a wise person told him to get a degree and then he could travel anywhere in the world. He did this and this took him to Germany. In 1992 he joined the prison ministry of the Jesus-Group in Stammheim prison near Stuttgart. He started the first English group there and the work grew. For the 20th anniversary of the work he wrote a book called “Jesus behind bars“ which relates many of the things that happened in prison. He also joined a work which provides free camp holidays for children of prisoners. Moving to Switzerland he helped in forming the new international church within the church there and is engaged in helping a centre for the poor and drug addicts in Zürich.
