Damaged Like Us by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie

Don't date your bodyguard.
It was the one rule he had to break.

Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible -- the twenty-two-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the internet.

Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth.

He is certified American royalty.

When he's assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained, Yale graduate who's known for "going rogue" in the security team -- and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff's sexual fantasies.

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into "termination" territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated.

Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.

Damaged Like Us is the first book in the Like Us Series

Let me start by saying that this was nothing like I thought it would be. I had like 10 different theories about what was going to happen and who certain characters were going to end up with and I only one came true. So much about this book surprised me (in the best way possible!). This was such a solid start to the Like Us series. Krista and Becca managed to make me fall in love with every single character. I really hope this series ends up being more than 3 books because we need books about Janie and Sulli, and hopefully we can get more stories for the other characters. There’s an ensemble of characters here, each one unique in their own way. Moffy, Janie, and Sulli lived up to all of my expectations. Moffy and Janie’s friendship was amazing to read about, it was one of my favorite parts of the book, so was seeing Moffy with his siblings. Sulli didn’t have as much “screen-time” as the other characters, but she is definitely one of the more interesting ones. Hopefully she’ll have a bigger part in Lovers Like Us because I would love to see more of her. Also, the Omega security team was amazing, especially Akara and Quinn. Also, shout out to Jack Highland, I already love you. There’s a lot more that I want to say, but I’m pretty sure it’s all a spoiler. So I’ll leave you by saying you should definitely read this, and you should go in with zero expectations, because you’ll definitely be wrong.

I got so freaking sentimental with this book, the Addicted gang as adults and their kids having their own adventures and finding love and heartache. So beautiful! This is the story of Maximoff Hale or Moffy to all of us who have been there since he was born (getting sentimental again) and Farrow his new bodyguard. So, of course, we have a bit of forbidden romance and I mean it when I say that because as you read the book you realize they really have it against them and their love, if they were to be found out things could get bad for a lot of people. Their chemistry was off the charts, from moment one we have this adorable bickering and the need to show off for the other than made me really excited to see what would happen when they finally let their feelings go wild. And then that moment came and yeah it was pretty special (wink wink). Even though I love Maximoff, I was super happy to see Jane and also Sulli in a more prominent place in the book, Jane is as awesome as I imagined she would be, I loved the way she was described and also how she was so strong and confident and Sulli I loved that she has a big connection with Ryke because I always knew he would be an amazing dad. I don’t know what awaits these two in the future books (I already have some thoughts) but I’m excited to find out. And even though I really liked and enjoyed the book there was however a moment that stressed me to no end and I can’t tell you much about it because spoilers but it kind of let me down a little bit, it felt like everything I knew or thought I knew about certain characters was obliterated with that one moment and I didn’t like it at all, that said I think I do understand why it was written like that and why they reacted like that it was I think natural if you had the same interaction with say “normal people” but since these are my babies it was really hard for me to see them act and react the way they did, I guess you always think they are perfect but they are not and that is fine because that make the book reading experience that more real.

I don't usually read M/M books unless it's part of a series. I read and loved all the books about Maximoff's parents and that generation (Addicted Series and Calloway Sisters series) so there was no way I was missing out on this one. Loved it! Sexy hot and the feels too, my fav to read.
