The Damask Rose takes readers to the mystical, magical Isle of Skye, in Scotland of 1430, where two clans, MacKay and MacDougald, have been engaged in a blood feud for years. I really enjoyed this book because it shows what unselfish love can accomplish. It also developes characters that you can relate to people you know today who might be changed by love and acceptance of the person with all their faults. I now want to read more of Haywood Smith's books because this one was so interesting.
