Damned is a page-turner book. I couldn't put it down. Alexandrea Weis brought her readers into magical mysterious worlds. This is the second book in the Blackwell series. I would highly recommend reading the first book first. You can do it without it but there are details you will miss. Weis brings you on a journey that is captivating. An engaged couple Lexi and Will. Will is an architect and wants to restore the manor back to its original stage. While they are fixing up the Manor they start digging up the manor's past. Lexi comes across some photographs. These photos will help Will restore the home back to its original. The Manor's caretaker, Remi, recognizes that Lexi has a special gift. Magnus has also taken a special interest in her also. This book is very suspenseful, entertaining and great character arcs. I could really see this book becoming a film or even a tv series.
Damned by Alexandra Weis and Lucas Astor is the first book in the Magnus Bane Blackwell series. There is a prequel as well that is great and I highly recommend. Lexie Arden and her fiancé buy Altmover Manor. Will has dreams of renovating it and turning it into their dream home. There are spirits and voodoo, curses and supernatural elements to this book. I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the prequel and look forward to reading others in the series. I am excited to see where Lexie ends up and what else happens. I think the writing was good and the story was unique and interesting. And it’s hard to get over a character like Magnus Blackwell. 4 star rating.
Alexandrea Weis and Lucas Astor's "Damned" is the first tale of the Magnus Blackwell series. I don't want to give too much away, but the authors have weaved together a wonderful web of characters. The writing is very compelling. I love the way Magnus is portrayed in this. If you haven't read "Blackwell," you should read it before reading this to truly understand who Magnus is. The voodoo bits are interesting.
