“Dancing in a Minefield” is a high school romance that takes place in upstate New York. Question: is it true that good girls really do like bad guys? Your best friend is the same way; and the two of you are going blithely about your business until a chance encounter with the school’s most popular ‘bad boys’ occurs...

This is what happens to Jasmine “Jazzy” White and Emily LaFave. Up until their junior year of high school, the two best friends have played it safe in all facets of their lives. But when Emily suggests they join the girls’ field hockey team to catch the eyes of the guys they like, they have no idea of what this whimsical idea will lead to!

Once they do show up on Travis Morgan and Paul Lawry’s radar, the guys decide to make a bet to see who can be the first to score with their particular target. What happens next is something that neither boy ever saw coming!

Rita Debnam grew up in upstate New York; and always wanted to put her little hometown on the map. What better way to do that than to choose South Glens Falls as the location for her books? Using her alma mater of South High for the high school in this first book in her series, it made everything familiar and brought back fond memories. Although every memory isn't a favorite: isn't that one of the great things about being a writer? You get to "re-write" history so it turns out the way you want!

She wrote her first book when she was in third grade; and knew from that point that she's happiest when she's writing for others. She always puts a little bit of herself in each book, which is where the honesty and humor comes from. And she loves each and every one of her characters, whether they're "good" or "bad"!
