Alice Ott, a retired school teacher turned cyber sleuth, is determined to expose a deadly conspiracy in the nation's Capitol. Alice mobilizes her friends, the Raging Grannies, and persuades her long-lost lover, the handsome microbiologist Gerard, to help her pursue the unsolved mystery of the anthrax letters attack. When Alice and her crew stumble on a bioweapons expert from the epicenter of U.S. bioweapons hiding out in Vermont, they join forces to expose the true origins of the deadly anthrax letters. In taking on the most sinister players in this international cover-up, Alice, Gerard, and a small group of ordinary citizens bravely reveal the darkest secrets of biological weapons, and still make time for love.

Knowing the author and some of the people on whom her characters were based made reading this more fun. Love mysteries and love senior citizen heroes.

This is a fun book...not too dark and heavy, not too frivolous and silly....most enjoyable! Alice is a believable heroine -- go Alice! -- and it's uplifting to read of her courage and willingness to take on too-real corruption and danger within our own government. The love story is a wonderful touch. I look forward to reading more of Alice's adventures and more from Dusty Miller.

This is a great read. It's captivating story grabs you from the first page. I really loved the strong, brave women - especially Alice Ott, of course! The familiar terrain of Western Mass is a joy to experience in words. The other wonderful gift of this story is the unraveling of a plot that exposes our government's most sinister side. For so many reasons, this is a "must read" on the summer reading list.

A wonderfully written and engaging book. Please make some time to sit down before you open the book -- turn off the phone, plan leftovers for supper -- because once you begin reading, you will likely not be able to put this page-turner down. Great characters behaving just like we like them to behave. Add it to your summer reading list and expect to be really glad that you did.
