I'll admit I was really excited to read this book after reading what it was about. Mitch Whitehorse is a former US Marshall who helped put his serial killer brother Wade Whitehorse away in prison. He knows Wade's wife Jane knew what his brother was doing, but he can't prove it. Mitch has since left the Marshalls and has become a cowboy on his uncle's ranch. He lives off by myself and likes the solitary life. Then everything changes. Wade escapes from prison to come collect his wife and kill his brother. Can Mitch trust Jane and himself to protect them both from this serial killer? Can they both learn to trust again and discover that maybe living a life alone isn't for them? Well....you'll have to read the story. LOL It's a non-stop adventure. I loved the premise. Dana Mentink even throws a few twists and turns in there. If you like books about Cowboys, a little romance, redemption, and faith all wrapped up in a little suspense then you will love this book. I'm excited to read the next book in the Roughwater Ranch Cowboy series. It can't come out soon enough!

Danger on the Ranch captured my attention from the moment I started reading. The book is full of danger, twists, turns, second chances, and more. Mitch Whitehorse solidly represents the loner ex-lawman. His brother represents the epitome of evil as a convicted murderer. Mitch believes Jane Reyes (his brother’s wife) knew about what her husband was doing. When Jane comes to Mitch to ask for help, my heart broke for her when he refused initially. Through turns and twists, Mitch comes to realize Jane was innocent. His turnabout and willingness to protect Jane made me happy. Mitch’s father, his uncle, aunt, and the ranch hands that are like sons to Mitch’s uncle add dimension and depth to the story. Their willingness to do what it takes to keep Mitch, Jane and her son safe demonstrate true Christian charity. When Mitch realizes someone must be helping his brother with his escape and murder attempts of Mitch and Jane, they are both surprised to find out who is helping him. The characters are believable. The storyline is intense. I found myself unable to put the book down. Truly this is a book worth reading. So check it out for yourself. I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

I am so excited about this book I can hardly write my review. It starts off immediately with a cringe worthy crime and my skin crawled as I read what this horrible person did. It's not every day that you have to worry if your psycho brother gets out of prison, but for Mitch it becomes a reality. I won't go into details about what Mitch's brother Wade has done, but I can assure you Wade is dangerous and has a cold heart. Putting your brother away in prison was satisfying for Mitch but Wade won't let a prison cell stop him from getting revenge. When I first met Jane in the story I wasn't quite sure if I trusted her. How could she not know what her husband had been doing? It was right there under her nose and yet she tells everyone she had no idea. The last person Mitch wants to see is Jane because he has always believed she was part of his brother's crime spree. I loved the suspense when Mitch finds out that Wade has escaped and Jane has come to him for help. She says her life is in danger and she holds a secret that Wade would kill for. The story is well written and I loved how the author has a lesson in the story about trust and forgiveness. Those two words I think are the hardest for anyone to deal with. How can you trust someone who you believe was part of a sinister crime? I'm surprised it doesn't take Wade very long to sniff out the trail of Mitch and Jane. He is determined to get revenge and readers we are in for a ride that goes bumpy and fast as a real threat comes to Mitch and his ranch. The ranch has some wonderful characters living on it and I adored Ginny and Gus. Ginny is a feisty woman who doesn't back down to anyone. She has a big heart and wants to make sure that Jane is safe. I really liked the program the ranch was starting to help veterans adapt and it sure is something much needed in our country today. I have been on the edge of my seat while reading this book. I love how Jane shares God with Mitch and explains how much God has protected her and blessed her. The action keeps coming as Wade gets closer to finding her and Mitch. I absolutely loved the twist in the story and was completely taken off guard. This is one of the best stories the author has written and is definitely a page turner. Get ready for a suspenseful ride as Danger on the Ranch explodes with faith, family, danger and second chances. " Your past doesn't define you, Mitch. Your God does." I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit The review is my own opinion.

A great action-filled start to this new series called Roughwater Ranch Cowboys by Dana Mentink! The author always delivers fast-paced, well-written, adrenaline-filled romantic suspense and she definitely lives up to her reputation with this newest book. Dangers on the Ranch starts out with Mitch, a former US Marshall and a cowboy, squaring off against his younger brother whom he put away in prison for multiple murders. Mitch is a stoic man, loyal and hard-working but also tender. The opening scene also involves his brother’s ex-wife Jane who tries to warn Mitch of his brother’s escape but also seeks help in protecting her son. The rest of the book is a roller coaster ride of action as both are chased by the psychopath of a brother and ex-husband who seeks revenge. In the midst of running for their lives and protecting their loved ones, Mitch and Jane find common ground - in affection, family, and faith. If you enjoy romantic suspense with page-turning action, you will love this book. I received a copy of the book via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

I can’t wait to see what the next books in this series will be like. It was such a treat learning about Mitch and Jane and Ben. I don’t know how I would react to find out that my husband was a serial killer. You think that you know people that you are close to but one can neve know all of someone else’s secrets. This book had a lot of twists and turns. I really enjoyed this. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I haven’t met a Dana Mentink book I don’t love. I know when I pick up one her books I will have a story of suspense, romance and faith. I loved the plot of this one. A mom protecting her son from her serial killer ex-husband, at the same time falling for her ex-husband’s brother. Jane doesn’t trust her heart. She has been duped before so she fights her attraction to Mitch, which breaks my heart at times. Unfortunately, this book also shows how a woman can be tricked into believing she is loved by a man who only has selfish motives. I have seen this too often in my own life. If you love romantic suspense I recommend this one. A copy of this book was given to me through the Celebrate Lit Team. All opinions are my own.

Wow! What an intense ride! You’re not two pages in before Mitch is getting shot at … by his recently-escaped, truly evil, serial killer brother Wade … and courageously rescued by his serial killer brother’s ex-wife Jane, whom Mitch loathes based on his suspicions that she was his brother’s accomplice in the serial killing. Whew! That’s all in the first few pages – and it only gets more intense from there! The tension that Mentink has meted out to perfection builds not only from the immediate threat to their lives, but also from all the emotions behind that threat. Guilt, desperation, fear, distrust, doubt, anger… and yes attraction to the last person on earth you think you should fall for – it’s all bundled into an adrenaline fueled thriller that will keep you on the edge of your favorite reading chair. Add in an adorable toddler who kicks up the tension even further with the urgent need to keep him safe (and the swoony way tough cowboy Mitch turns into a besotted puddle as Uncle Moo Moo) …. yeah, don’t plan to relax at all while you’re reading this book. By the time the story races to the finish line, you’ll have accumulated a handful of people whose ability to be trusted is seriously suspect. Y’all. It’s so good! And of course, there’s the romance… Mitch and Jane both have their hearts as locked down as Fort Knox when it comes to the other person, and watching those same hearts begin to soften into affection with a cowboy-induced sizzle is truly swoonilicious. Their characters are layered in their backstories as well as their present situations, and you’ll find yourself nearly breathless at times as they dance around both their simmering mutual attraction and deeply ingrained distrust of each other. Once this kind of romance really takes off, be prepared for some keep-that-fan-handy fireworks! Bottom Line: This. Book. Is. Amazing. Action-packed and intense, the story also eases at just the right moments for a sweet or humorous scene – just long enough for you to catch your breath before you’re dodging creepiest-Mentink-villain-ever guy with our protagonists all over again! Along the way you also get to meet a variety of secondary characters that promise great stories of their own as the series continues, and you’re reminded that, no matter your past or your family tree, God can never be taken from you; He is personal to each of us, and He is able to redeem what we think is lost. A must-read for thriller fans who love a good romance thrown in, too! (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)

Cowboy + Suspense.  This should be fun! I didn't quite realize what I was getting into when I started reading Danger on the Ranch by Dana Mentink.  I don't think I had even read the back cover copy.  I had some fun with Act of Valor, so I thought this one would be worth checking out.  It was.  I was sucked into the story from the first chapter when I realized exactly who I was dealing with. Truth be told, as soon as I figured out Mitch was going to have to work with his ex-sister-in-law (the one he thinks conspired with his serial killer brother), I was caught.  I had to keep reading.  Was she the real deal? This story had a few of my favorite things.  I always love the families that are built on loyalties, not just blood, the ones that seem to have adopted each other as Mitch's aunt and uncle have "adopted" the folks on their ranch.  These families remind me so much of God's family, and their acceptance of a woman the world has rejected just warmed my heart.  I love how fiercely protective this family is, and I want to know their stories, too! The themes of forgiveness and re-learning trust really resonated with me.  I think they would with most of us, but this author amplifies them by bringing a serial killer into the family.  And this story kept me on my toes! I didn't figure out the accomplice until the last minute, and then I actually felt pity. Did Anything Bother Me in Danger on the Ranch? Well...yep.  There was one downside to this book; my personal pet peeve.  It's the whole romance between a believer and a not-yet-believer thing.  I get how it could happen.  Trust me.  But there's no check, no pause to even say "hey, we need to be on the same page in this whole God thing first."  They eventually do end up on the same page, but then, we know how I feel about dating baby Christians too.  So there's my personal pet peeve, the one that shows up through so much Christian romance.  We think we need to intertwine someone's journey to Jesus with their journey to romance. Would I Recommend Danger on the Ranch? Yes!  Despite my personal pet peeve, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense and a good story of trust, forgiveness, and fresh starts. I received a review copy of this book; all opinions are my own.

What an incredible way to spend a few hours! The author has done a fabulous job of creating a scene that had me siting on the edge of my seat, holding my breath and even biting my nails a little! This is one story you won't put down until you are finished. Imagine finding out you are married to a murderer and that he has perpetrated these crimes not far from your comfortable little home. I’m quite sure you would feel guilty wishing you could have protected those unfortunate souls. Jane tried to remove herself from the slurs, slander and feelings of guilt, only to have it start all over again. As the brother of this murderer, Mitch also had feelings of guilt, wishing he had realized years earlier that his brother needed help. Plenty of action, kidnapping, lies and danger will certainly keep your attention. Is it possible that trust will finally win the day? With highest recommendations, I look forward to reading more about the Roughwater Ranch Cowboys. I received this wonderful story through CelebrateLit. The impressions and opinions are my own and were not solicited.

Danger on the Ranch Had me hooked from the very first page. Mitch’s brother escaped from prison. Wade is out to get his ex-wife and his brother. Also Jane is trying to keep her son from Wade. There seems to be danger everywhere they go. Wade keeps finding them. Who is working with him ? I really enjoyed the characters. They were so real to me. I could feel their emotions. Especially Jane in protecting her son. The story was very exciting, never a dull moment. I received an advanced copy of the book from the author through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This review is my own opinion.

I have read several of author Mentink’s books and some have had me laughing aloud, others have held me in suspense, but this one, Danger on the Ranch, was downright creepy. What would you do if your brother was a serial killer, escapes from prison, his ex-wife comes to you for help, and you both are being hunted by him? That is how this story starts off and it does not let up on the suspense or the action throughout. There was one particular part where the bad brother is speaking to both of them and not only did the characters get chills, but I got chills as well. That is a talented author who can make me laugh out loud in one book and give me the creeps in another. This was probably one of the scariest Love Inspired Suspense books I have yet read, but it was a good one. I do recommend it – you just might not want to read it before bed or be prepared to sleep with the lights on. I received a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

My Thoughts: This book. Wow. It was amazing. I loved reading it. A former US Marshal living the reclusive secluded life because he blames himself for not letting everyone know his brother was off in the head sooner. Even though really how could he have known what his brother was capable of? But then, he’s riding his ranch and boom there is his brother! Who is supposed to be in prison! And he’s determined to kill him for locking him up! Oh my. That’s a lot of thick plot right there. But there is more. Enter Jane. Jane married Mitch’s brother who is the serial killer in question. She’s terrified of him. Even though she filed for and obtained a divorce since he was sent to prison she knows that he always comes back for what he wants or thinks is his. And that means her. But she will stop at nothing to protect her son from him. The son that he doesn’t even know about. For that matter neither does Mitch until the day she saves his life. I could not quit reading this book. It was amazing. I’ve not read this author before but quickly was looking her up on Amazon. Her style grabs you and sucks you in. The characters become your best friend but you think you’re really there and can feel your heart racing. The plot is set up so well. I’m not going to give stuff away, but I didn’t figure it all out until almost the end where she reveals it all anyway. That’s how you know this is an amazing book. Because I’m pretty good at this mystery stuff and solving them is pretty easy for me. If you enjoy mystery books you’re going to love this one. Because it’s a short book it is one that I easily read in a day. Or less than a day. Okay, so we’re talking an hour or so while rocking the nursing/sleeping baby so she’d stay asleep and I could finish the book. It’s that good. I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

I will always read anything that Dana Mentink puts out. I know that when I pick up one of her books I will be sent on a action packed adventure that will leave your heart pounding. This is the start of a new series for the author. In this first book in the Roughwater Racnch Cowboys series we meet Jane and Mitch. Mitch is a retired US Marshal that has to protect his former sister in law, Jane. Jane has kept her child a secret and is leary of trusting her former brother in law. The author writes amazing, real, unique characters. Her descriptions of them make then feel real. This story line will have you turning pages quickly and the action will not stop. I cannot wait until the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program. All thoughts are my own.

DANGER ON THE RANCH is an intense read as a mother tries to escape the clutches of her serial killer ex-husband with the help of his retired US Marshall brother. It's a story full of suspense, complex characters, and moments of faith. Mitch and Jane find themselves in a dire situation and under some pretty tense circumstances as they fight for their lives and safety. I liked both of these main characters, and I liked the overall story. I thought there were quite a few red herrings and I actually would have liked a few of those to develop more, but with this line of books there isn't always time to do that. The inspirational element of the story is pretty strong, but it worked. I had a tough time with the romance. It started early on in the story and I just didn't feel it. I think I would have actually liked the story a lot more without the romantic aspect or with it just blooming at the end. It just didn't work for me. In the end, was it what I wished for? This is definitely one of those cat and mouse stories. I had some issues with it, but I think there is promise for this new series. Content: Some violence. Source: I received a complimentary copy through CelebrateLit, which did not require a positive review nor affect my review in any way.

If you enjoy mystery, danger, and intrigue then you’ll want to read this book. Author Dana Mentink takes us on quite a suspenseful ride. Although a quick read, you’ll have a challenge figuring out who did what and who can be trusted. With well developed characters, you’ll feel drawn into the lives of Mitch and Jane, as well as that of Mitch’s hateful brother. There’s so much to like about this book. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a good cowboy story with clean romance? Mintink keeps the reader turning the pages of her book quickly. Grab a copy today! I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Hang on for a wild ride! Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a wild ride! I loved this book, and especially the way that author Dana Mentink knew just how much backstory was needed. And how much to reveal at which part of this excellent book. Lightening the mood was Ben, Jane's son. He was simply adorable with his love for ""twains"". His innocence contrasting with the evil of his father was stark. With the added suspense of what Wade would do when he discovered Jane's secret, just ... Wow! The unknown person who helped Wade escape from prison provided plenty of mystery. With ample clues and misdirection, I was kept guessing at their identity until the end. Mitch had difficulty believing in a God who would allow such evil to exist - Jane had to believe in God to give her hope in the face of it. Both struggled with guilt over crimes they didn't commit but thought they should have known about and prevented. I'm so excited about this new series! I'm guessing Liam and Chad will be getting stories next and am really looking forward to seeing what suspenseful situations Dana Mentink comes up with for them! Read my review of Danger on the Ranch by Dana Mentink at AmongTheReads.net I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. If you enjoy a story with non-stop action, this one will not disappoint, and we won’t know until the last page is turned who survived. There is also the unknown in that we don’t know who to trust, and even then, I found myself changing my opinion, yes, the author really keeps us guessing. Where one brother seems to care of people and is there for his fellow man, the other is the personification of evil. You don’t want to miss this one, it sure will keep you guessing! I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review.

Dana Mentink has totally outdone herself with this story! The premise is unlike any I’ve read before. I was wondering how she was going to pull it off, but she did. I loved it! In fact, this is my favorite story of hers to date and that is saying something!   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dana always starts her stories with a bang and this one was no different! I was sucked in from the first page and I didn’t want to stop reading. Mitch and Jane were both awesome characters! And boy, did they have a lot to overcome in this story! I mean Mitch’s brother is a serial killer and he was married to Jane! And, Wade, the serial killer, has escaped from jail and is out for blood! And, did I mention there’s a toddler involved? What could go wrong?   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I highly recommend this story and I am so excited to hear that there is going to be four stories in this series! I cannot wait for Liam’s story!   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Take a gritty former law officer and a terrified mother who will do anything to protect her child and surround them with the evil of a serial killer and you have a... Love Inspired Suspense? Oh yes! Author Dana Mentink starts off a new series with a wild beginning. Mitch Whitehorse is caught in a dangerous situation between his evil brother and the man's ex-wife who he doesn't trust one bit. What can possible happen when your brother is a serial killer and he has escaped from custody? This book is a wild ride. I love Dana Mentink's writing. I also love crime stories and this one certainly qualifies. I really like the fact that this deals with something that Christians do deal with in life, abuse, liars, crime, even murder along with publicity when the unfathomable happens. This is a reality (hopefully in small numbers) that a person of faith has had to live through. It can lead to a test of faith and strength one needs to get through each day. Mentink handles it all very well in a compelling story. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my own unsolicited opinion of it.

Can't wait to read the others! I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review!

Mitch was a US Marshal who had to put his serial killer brother in prison. Jane was his sister-in-law who had lost so much for everything. Jane finds she has to go calling on Mitch for protection. Can he help her ? Will he help her? Is she innocent or guilty? This is a story about danger, suspense, forgiveness, and love. The author will keep you guessing till the end. I really got into this book! I wasn't prepared for a really nasty & vile man as the serial killer though! This author sure made him mean! I can't imagine growing up with a brother like that but that's what Mitch Whitehorse had to do with his brother, Wade. The glimpses we saw into Wade's character as he was growing up sure made you not surprised that he became a serial killer! Mitch became a US Marshall and when he finally put away Wade in prison, he thought things would get better and he could live a quiet life but then Wade escapes and Mitch's life is thrown into an uproar again. This time, however, he has to deal with Wade's ex-wife and her toddler son. He has never believed that Jane was innocent in Wade's crimes but now that there is a child involved, he will do everything to protect them. There was SO much action in this book and I couldn't help but be on Jane's side as she repeatedly proclaimed her innocence. Her little boy, Ben, was such a sweet child too. Trying to rebuild your life after a horrific experience & relationships is so difficult but the author told it in a realistic manner. I had a hard time putting this book down and highly recommend it! A wonderful story with great secondary characters too!

Unpredictable, heart wrenching, suspense filled and chilling, Danger on the Ranch kept me reading until the late night hours! This may be my favorite of all of this author's books. Family connections are strong as they are in her previous books. That strength of family and love for others comes through faith and compassion. When someone has a need there's a support system already in place. One member of the Whitehorse family is evil to the core, a psychopathic killer who has escaped from prison, putting everyone at risk! It's nearly impossible to know who one can trust, as past events have colored perceptions of several characters throughout this book. Mitch Whitehorse becomes a protector to his brother's ex-wife and young child. He would rather take a bullet than let anything happen to either of them. I couldn't read fast enough to satisfy my curiosity regarding what could happen next! My heart rate increased as did my breathing, and I rocked my glider chair ever faster as the drama continued to build! I highly recommend this exciting, unpredictable book! It's one I won't soon forget! Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book. All expressed opinions are honest and my own.

Danger On The Ranch is the first novel in Dana Mentink's new Roughwater Ranch Cowboys Series, and it is definitely a winner!! Could there be much worse than being married to a serial killer? How about running from him after he escapes from prison or trying to keep your child hidden? Jane Reyes divorced Wade, her deranged husband, changed her name, and managed to keep the existence of her son a secret. When Wade escaped from prison, she sought out the only person she believed could help her--her former brother-law. Mitch Whitehorse, ex U.S. Marshall, doesn't believe or trust Jane at first, but he will do everything he can to protect his nephew. Gradually, his feelings change, and Mitch vows to protect the boy's mother as well. Can love and faith triumph in such bizarre circumstances? If you want a book to keep you on the edge of your seat, Danger On The Ranch is your book. The plot speeds along with twists and turns to keep you guessing. Dana Mentink's descriptions are so vivid that you will "see" the story unfold. Her characters are totally believable and well-developed. You will even get to know the minor characters who add depth to the story. Dana Mentink is a master storyteller. She knows how to expertly craft a suspense-filled novel and embellish it with faith and romance. Once you read the first line of Danger On The Ranch, you will want to keep turning the pages without interruption. I can't wait for Book Two!

Suspenseful! Dana Mentink's newest release, Danger on the Ranch will have you on the edge of your seat! Former US Marshal, Mitch Whitehorse can finally relax...or can he? His serial killer brother, Wade has escaped from prison and is looking for revenge. He is looking for Mitch. Wade's ex-wife, Jane has a secret that Wade could never know about, his baby boy. Jane turns towards Mitch. Will he believe Jane and can he help them before it is too late? I definitely recommend checking this first book in The Roughwater Ranch Cowboys series out! You will feel like you are right there with the characters on this beautiful yet dangerous ranch. Once you start reading this story you won't be putting it down anytime soon! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from the author and have given my honest opinion.
