To ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Granger, responsibility isn’t just a word. It’s his Code of Honor. But when assigned to protect Coercion Ten’s latest target, she challenges his authority, defies his rules, and wreaks havoc on his personal willpower. Fighting for her isn’t a problem. Giving his life for her isn’t a problem. Forgetting their world-stopping kiss? Definite problem. And if he can’t concentrate solely on keeping her safe, it may cost them both their lives.

Journalist Liz Walkert’s missing father sent her a cryptic message that she was in danger. What he didn’t tell her was why. Unbeknownst to Liz, her family has been in Witness Protection all her life. Mitch may be her bodyguard, but his protection comes close to being control, the one thing she has none of in his presence. After a kidnap attempt and a narrow escape from attacking CT forces, they both realize they’re going to need to focus on the mission and fight their attraction if they have any hope of surviving.

This book is part of a series, however, I did not read the first book and I had no issues with this book. This book is a standalone. Our two main characters, Mitch and Liz had the sizzle. Mitch a former Navy Seal, is of course, is all Alpha and I thought that is character was my favorite. Liz, an investigative journalist was a little hard for me to warm up to as I felt like her character wasn't consistent. The story was full of twists and turns, and was action packed. Trying to determine who were the good guys and bad guys kept me on my toes. The romance was okay in my book, I like a little more steam in my books, but that is just a personal preference for me, still enjoyed the book just wished for a little more. The characters did grow together, so it wasn't an insta anything. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will go back and read book 1 and look forward to book 3. Happy Reading!!!

This is the second book in this series but each is a stand alone but after saying that I loved this one so much that I went out and bought the first book in the series Elizabeth "Liz" Walkert is a journalist and her father has gone missing and now she has a message to meet one of her father's friends agents at a bar yes her radar is going off When she meets that agent it is Mitch Granger former military and now working for OPAQUE’s special ops force. Mitch has always been the one to protect everyone he supported his family after his fathers death and protected while in the military so is it any wonder he now protects in his new job. Now he will have to go on the run with Liz if he is to protect her from CT (Coercion Ten) but in the process he may fall for her but they will have to work together if they are to survive This is a roller coaster ride with plenty of suspense and danger that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Action. Action. Action. Liz Walkert, aware only that her father is missing, is blindsided when the only family friend she trusts appoints a protector. As an elite agent in OPAQUE, Mitch Granger has had some tough assignments. However, from the moment he shields Liz with his body during the opening gunfight—he’s aware this one will be different. Ms. Shelton takes us on a fast-paced, water-filled adventure centered on the Gulf Coast. Hang on tight as Liz and Mitch are tested to the limit—learning about themselves as well as each other.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy. What an action packed romance filled with intrigue and there were a couple of twists along the way. One I should have figured out as there were enough clues and one that there were no clues but I just knew and could see coming! One thing that I will say, the picture of the father at the bank was kind of overlooked and you would think operatives would delve deeper into this! No more on that as I don't want to give away any of the story. This book was hard to put down as you just wanted to keep seeing where the story was going and who was the mole. Was Elizabeth's father Drake or was it Russ? So many close calls, and the romance was so hot and filled with tension as Mitch kept backing off and didn't feel that he could have a life with his job and a woman. I was not sure until the very end that Mitch could figure a way out of his thinking and keep Liz and not blow it! Great wrap up at the end and I hope a little taste of Cat and Stealth for a future book!

If I had to choose a few words to describe this book they would be; intense, twisted and really good. Some fiction books when you are reading it you can see it happening, in this story some of it was so far fetched you know that’s why it’s fiction. But with the twist and turns in this story makes you wonder if just maybe this has happened to someone before. The author keeps you guessing and keeps you drawn in that’s for the hole book. I had the hardest time putting this book down, it truly seem to just fly. This book does have sec and adult language in it. This book for sure was really good. I wonder what OPAQUE will be up to next. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series but reads well as a stand alone. This is a convoluted book. Basically Liz's whole life is a lie. witness protection, her dad is not her dad Still I liked it. 4 stars. If you like suspense try this!!

I seem to be on a romantic suspense roll of late, this another one that does not disappoint and will have you turning those pages faster than you can say "why is Mitch such a ____?" Based on the world of the Opaque Security Team, they're called in as a favor to an old friend of the boss. He in turn pulls in his top team leaders who all have their own skill set. Tasked to lead the force is former Navy SEAL Mitch who is truly a piece of work. He's ready to go on a much needed vacation and pulled to protect Elizabeth/Liz who's father was a friend of Drake's. Liz's whole life was spent in Witsec unbeknownst to her. Her father is in trouble and has disappeared, his last text to her a mystery. When Liz and her father show up on a list as leverage, the whole team is set into action. Just when they think they're safe, yet another twist. This story places Mitch and Liz in close quarters and I'll say Mitch was totally full of himself and Liz did well to give him the proper amount of sass he deserved. Things do heat up between the two and the supporting characters on the team add to the comedic element in the story. While the team tries to eke out a rat in their midst, the stakes grow higher with every scene and when you think you know, well you don't. Just keep flipping those pages because the story is gripping right until the very end. This is a fantastic full length stand alone from Ms Shelton and I'm ready for the next book! Love a good romantic suspense where the men are a hot as the water they find themselves in? This one is for you! arc from NetGalley and Entangled for an honest review

Can this exseal learn not only to protect but to love as well? Can Liz stay alive long enough to find that love? I read this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. Review: DANGEROUS LIES (Shades of Leverage) by Claudia Shelton Publication Date July 22, 2019 Genre: Contemporary Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna Rated 3.5 Stars This is an action-packed suspense, with danger around every turn. Some situations could seem improbable, but that only added to the thrills. I liked Mitch…the alpha-I’m-in-charge leader of this mission, especially when his thoughtfulness was at odds with his behavior. It gave him a nice depth to his character. I just could not understand his attraction to Liz beyond the physical one. She was all over the place. Petulant, frightened, sullen, shrew, and then sweet or sexy. Her behavior didn’t always match the situation or her world-traveler experience, or how she reacted to Mitch’s instructions when there was imminent danger. However, the romance progressed nicely with the physical relationship kept behind-closed-doors. All in all, this was an exhilarating, fast-paced story that truly kept you wondering how it would end. *Review copy provided by Entangled in exchange for an honest review. ~*~*~*~

Journalist Elizabeth Walkert’s life has spun out of control. Her father is missing and she receives a message from him that she is in danger. Ex-SEAL Mitch Granger, an operative with OPAQUE’s special ops force, arrives to protect her at the request of her father’s friend Drake. Liz is stunned when Mitch tells her that she and her family have been in Witness Protection since prior to her birth. When the house they are in is attacked by a group called Coercion Ten (CT), she goes on the run with Mitch knowing that he and his team are the only ones that can save her life. Where is her father? Is he safe? I was a little confused at first as even though this is advertised as a standalone book in the “Shades of Leverage” series, I think I would have had a better grasp of the characters, etc., if I had read the previous books. Beyond that, this was an exciting romantic suspense and I plan to read the first books to “catch up” with the characters. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

LOVED this book! OMG, this was soooooo good! This is fast paced romantic suspense at its best! The author wove a complex tale that came to life on the pages. The characters felt real and I found myself invested in their story. I couldn't put this book down. I'm not even going to try to summarize the novel, as I won't do it justice, just be sure that this one is a must read. I don't know how I haven't heard of this author before now, but what a wonderful surprise - now I can enjoy her back list. I'm adding her to my must read authors' list and going to work my way through her prior books

An exciting suspense. Action packed, loved every minute of this story. Kept me reading well into the night. Strong characters with vulnerabilities that make them more relatable to the reader. Would love to read more by this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
