This is book 2 in the Reckless Rockwoods series. Constance Athelson, Viscountess Westbury, spent one night in the arms of a stranger but quickly ran away after seeing a disturbing sight when touching him. You see, Constance "sees" things. She sees events that have occurred in the past and events that have yet to occur. She can also talk to ghosts. Knowing that the stranger will try to find her, she goes into hiding in the country working for the Earl of Lyndham. What she doesn't know is that her new employer is none other than her "stranger." Lucien Blakemore, wants to see the progress his new employee has made in cataloguing his artifacts. He is shocked to learn that the person he hired is actually a woman. He soon learns that she is also the mystery woman that he has searched high and low for. With a family curse over his head, Lucien can't let himself get too close to Constance. But as they spend more and more time with each other, it appears he is losing his heart. Can he break the curse that has plagued his family to find the love of a lifetime? Loved this story!! It is a paranormal historical romance, which is not normally my cup of tea. But having been a big fan of Ghost Whisperer and Medium, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The attraction between Constance and Lucien was red hot! Definitely a steamy read! I always love a good mystery added to my romance stories and Burns did not disappoint! Definitely a must read! Thanks go out to Samhain Publishing via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Constance Athelston is a widow with a young son. She also has a gift that she dare not reveal - she can see the dead. After a night of shared passion, she is determined to win the heart of Lucien Blakemore, the Earl of Lyndham. Lucien, however, believes he is cursed - which means that falling in love is too dangerous. But he can't get Constance out of his mind, or his heart. Will these two be able to set aside the obstacles and take hold of true love? Constance struggles because of her gift. She sees visions and can talk to the dead and most people shun her if they find out. Lucien doesn't believe in anything supernatural, which makes a relationship between the two of them difficult to say the least. I thought Constance's ability to love Lucien in the face of almost overwhelming odds was amazing. She is strong and independent, but also has a heart for others. Lucien is the kind of hero that gets your blood racing. He's a bad boy on the outside, but inside wanting to love and be loved. From the moment he first appeared, to the last scene, I was hooked! Ms. Burns has an amazing talent. She is able to write an edge-of-your-seat suspense tale that is also an erotic, emotional love story. The love scenes were sensual and passionate with a little bit of naughty mixed in. I loved the secondary characters. Constance's son Jamie, the earl's grandmother, his niece Imogene. And the villain was scary, so evil, yet able to mask his true nature. Dangerous is a passionate tale of love and intrigue, with supernatural elements. You won't want to miss this one!

Is the ability to see and talk to the dead or seeing into the future a curse or a blessing? Constance Athelson, Viscountess Westbury knows no difference because her family has always had special abilities. At a masquerade ball she meets a stranger, although is is Lucien Blakemore, Earl of Lyndham and has a passionate one night affair with neither knowing who the other was. Lucien has his own ghosts with a curse that has been on his family and is wary of love. This is truly a Gothic style romance which I love and has a little of it all. Murder, mystery, suspense, strong emotions and wonderful characters. As Lucien and Constance meet again, the passion is still strong but can they help each other find true love? As with all of Monica Burns stories, you will glued to the pages and ready to read the next book in this series!!

The love story is surrounded by past murders, a believed family curse, ghosts and danger. The love scenes are beautiful and erotic. It is well written and keeps your attention. It makes you want to finish the book but I work and it took two long nights to read this nook. I would highly recommend this book.

"This book has been previously published by Samhain Publishing, and contains an epilogue never before included with this publication." "DANGEROUS ", is an exciting Historical Romance with Paranormal elements. It has realistic characters, a curse, a ghost or two, romance, suspense, mystery, and passion, yes, and explicitly delicious sensual scenes. The Hero, while arrogant, is suffering from a family curse, he can not fall in love, as his beloved might die. So he comes off as arrogant, uncaring and an all around arse. The heroine has a secret, she has visions. Can see and talk to ghosts. In this case, the ghost is a Blakemore ghost, begging her to help rid his family of this dreadful curse. It seems when the heir falls in love he kills his beloved. Once again, Ms Burns had written a well thought -out story with many twists and turns. Think Jane Erye. Her characters will have you absolutely absorbed, her storyline is unique, refreshing, interesting, intriguing and dare I say riveting. While, sexual expicit, the scenes are done tastefully, elegantly, if that is possible in such a case and exquisite. I enjoyed this story from start to finish. There are so many facets to this story, it's not your ordinary Historical Romance, but far more. An absolutely wickedly delicious read! A page turner and a keeper. Fans of Jane Erye, historical romance, Paranormal Romance, mystery and suspense with many facets are sure to enjoy "Dangerous ". I would encourage readers to take a step into one of Monica Burns stories, you will not be disappointed. An enjoyable and satisfying read! ! Ghostly delicious. *Received for an honest review from the author * **To be cross-posted on My Book Addiction and More ** Rating: 5 Heat rating: Hot to spicy Reviewed by: AprilR, courtesy of My Book Addiction and More

Monica Burns writes lush historical romance. Her stories perfectly capture the emotions of all-consuming lust and passionate love combined with a page-turning story that engrosses until the very end. She’s an underrated and underappreciated author who writes beautiful historical romantic stories. This story has elements of both history and the supernatural. Like Katharine Ashe’s Captive Bride and These Haunted Hearts by Anna Campbell, they are stories of both mystery and romance. Though loosely connected to Obsession in that Constance is the sister of Sebastian, the hero in that story, it can be read as a standalone. Constance is an independent single mother, a widow who assisted her late husband in his expeditions to Egypt. She is an accomplished librarian and cataloger of antiquities, trained by scholars at the British Museum, and is hired by Lucien, the Earl of Lyndham, via correspondence based on her expert qualifications. Her work is impeccable and she’s very knowledgeable and meticulous in her execution. Before journeying to Lyndham’s estate with her young son, Jamie, she attends an illicit Black Widows Ball in London where she has a one-night stand with a masked stranger, completely out of character for herself. She is shocked at her attraction to him as well as her unconventional behavior but, after a vision into his past, she soon flees town after accepting the earl’s job offer. Little does she suspect he’s the stranger himself.  After their encounter, Lucien desperately tries to find his mysterious masked lady but to no avail. When he arrives at his estate, he is shocked to find her there and even more shocked when he discovers she is his cataloger. He’s an honorable, passionate, and sensitive man but he’s also very smart. “He was a man of action, a scholar, and her gift was as far removed from science and the academic world as it could be.”  What follows is a gripping mystery combined with a sensuous and erotic love story. I really enjoyed the bits of Egyptian history—Lucien’s horse is named Anubis—and antiquities interwoven with the tragic history and curse of the Blakemore family.  In short, Lucien must learn to accept both Constance’s gift as well as her love for her him. Secondary characters here are well portrayed: Lucien’s late brother, Nigel, presents some nice humorous moments as well as poignancy; Aurora, Lucien’s formidable and lovely grandmother; Duncan, Lucien’s old friend; and the charming children, Jamie, her son, and Imogene, Lucien’s beloved niece. Memorable moments: “'Isn't there some other way you could announce your presence? Like rattling chains or moaning?' she snapped.” “It was time she stopped feeling ashamed of her gift. And that’s what it was—it was a gift. She had the ability to help others.”  Monica Burns is one of my favorite historical romance authors who writes  stories set in the Victorian era. Her next book, His Mistress, is due out this year.
