This book tells the basics of the Bible story in Daniel chapter 6 when Daniel is thrown into in the lions' den for refusing to pray to King Darius. The story is told simply, which is perfect for babies and toddlers. There is one theological inaccuracy at the end of the book. The last line says, "Then the king made a new rule: everyone should pray to God instead of the king." This goes beyond what is written in Scripture. In Daniel 6:26, King Darius says, "I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel" (ESV). The king did not say that people should not pray to him. He simply said that people should tremble and fear Daniel's God. Parents who strive for theological accuracy will want to edit the way they read the last line of the book. Other than the one inaccuracy, I like this book, and I think it is a good book for young children. The illustrations are well done, and children will love the way the legs on the lion bounce and move.
