Dare to Surrender has a different feel to it from the first two books in the series--not in a bad way, but definitely different. For one thing, it's told in both first person (Isabelle) and third person (Gabe) point of view. I liked how it worked here; the fact that each section was indicated with the character's name and a fun label (for example, two of Isabelle's consecutive sections were labeled Out of the frying pan and Into the fire) made it even better. Secondly, even though the Dare family is here, they didn't feel as if they were quite as much of a focus as in the first two books. Part of this might be due to the fact that Gabe is one of the New York branch, whereas the first two books focused on the Miami Dares. The elder Mr. Dare who resided in New York (he and his wife died just after Gabe's college graduation) managed to sire only a single family, so there was less family drama here than in Ian and Alex's books. Finally, as part of the Invitation to Eden series, a good chunk of the story takes place on the mysterious resort on Eden Island, with gives it more of an escape-from-reality feel. The first two books were definitely more grounded in the everyday lives of the characters. That said, Dare to Surrender is a great addition to the series. The switch to a more personal drama from the bigger family focus was refreshing--hopefully while we're spending some time with this side of the family (the next series book is Gabe's younger brother Decklan's book) Ian and Alex can put more of their differences behind them. Gabe and Isabelle are great characters--Gabe is another strong alpha hero, like his cousins, though he does seem to have his act together a bit more than his Miami counterparts when it comes to knowing what his woman needs to find her way. Iz managed to re-create herself after her ex did a real number on her, which took a lot of courage and strength. Overall the conflict and drama of this novel seemed to be brought down a notch from the other two--perhaps the influence of sand and sun? ;) The island location is intriguing--I'll definitely be looking into picking up more books in that series to see what kinds of experiences other couples are having there.  And I'm really glad that the Dare family is such a large one. So many more series books to look forward to! Rating: 4 stars / B+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

It was a good easy read, but not one of my favorites. I guess I wanted more! I didn't think it flowed. The chapter breaks were a distraction, and it would have been better if it ended a chapter earlier. Somehow leaving the reader on edge. There were a few really hot sex scenes...one major one in particular that I remember leaving me wanting, so that's why I gave it 3 stars. I will read the other books because I'm interested in the rest of the story.

Gabe Dare is a alpha male with a wounded soul, and a domineering presence that takes Isabelle Masters by complete surprise. He is everything you want in a strong alpha male character, and does not disappoint! I also enjoyed how Isabelle found her inner strength as the story progressed, and how she stayed true to herself, and fought hard for what she desired. This is the third installment in the Dare series, and I must say it took me by surprise, the writing style of this book was a little different than the first two books, but I truly enjoyed reading it and meeting Gabe and Isabelle. I highly recommend you take time to meet the Dare family, they are a unique blend of characters, each with truly enticing stories to share!

: 3.75 stars--DARE TO SURRENDER is the third installment in Carly Phillips adult, contemporary Date to Love erotic romance series focusing on the Dare family of cousins and siblings. This is hotel and nightclub owner Gabriel Dare and former designer Isabelle Masters’s storyline. Each story in the Dare to Love series can be read as a stand alone. There is also cross over with the ‘Invitation to Eden’ series focusing on an exclusive island club called Eden- where all of your fantasies really do come true. Told from alternating first person (Isabelle) and close third person (Gabriel) points of view, the premise follows Gabriel and Isabelle’s building relationship. When Isabelle fled her abusive and cheating boyfriend, she found herself under arrest and in custody for grand theft auto. Her ex had contacted the local police and Decklan Dare was the presiding officer upon Isabelle’s arrest. When his brother Gabriel appears, reminding his brother about a prior engagement, Isabelle recognizes Gabriel from their previous encounters through their mutual membership at the local country club and her ex boyfriend’s connections. Gabriel offers his place as temporary shelter for Isabelle, hoping that she will consider it a permanent move. There is a prior connection between our leading couple, and in this the sexual relationship is quick to build. Gabriel is a man who likes control in his life and in his bedroom-with a little bit (not too much) of bondage and discipline on the side. When Isabelle’s ex returns to make trouble, she knows it is time to leave and strike out on her own. Isabelle needs time to figure out who and what she wants to be, and in this, Gabriel finds himself needing and wanting Isabelle more than ever before. The $ex scenes are fun and intimate. The secondary and supporting characters include Gabriel’s brother Decklan, and their sister Lucy who offers Isabelle a chance to help with the opening and design of the latest Club Eden. The cross over finds Lucy and Isabelle on an island vacation where Gabriel ensures that his time allows for he and Isabelle to rekindle their relationship. DARE TO SURRENDER takes a detour from the original Dare family of siblings. Gabriel, Decklan and Lucy are the cousins-children of Robert Dare’s deceased brother-and in this the series expands to incorporate a larger number of family members and potential stories. DARE TO SURRENDER is a fast paced, romantic and sexy storyline. There are moments of uncertainty in the wake of past histories, but our couple endeavor to push forward hoping for the happily ever after they both want and deserve. Carly Phillips does an amazing job cohesively blending two series together that makes for an enjoyable and well-rounded read.

To hope for more. To hope for better than we've had. To hope for someone to love and be loved by is what this book is really about. When we dare to raise our heads and hope for a future is when we really begin to live and not to just exist. This book will inspire all who read it.

This is an extremely erotic tale about a woman with very low self-esteem; caused by years of feeling unloved and unwanted, compacted by being in a horrible relationship, which ends with her fleeing.  Isabelle doesn’t really know herself in the beginning of the story, and only knows who she let her ex turn her into. Gabe helps her realize she isn’t the frigid woman her ex berated her into believing she is; with a firm hand in the bedroom, time and space, she discovers the passionate, independent, and loving woman she can truly be.  I really enjoyed this story, and Sophie Eastlake did a fantastic job with the narrations.  Carly Phillips is one of those authors that I am going to have to go back and read/listen to more of her work. I am a fan!...Sara

Even though Invitation to Eden Dare to Surrender is part of the Dare series, it can be read as a stand alone. Gabe is a total dominate dreamboat that knows what he wants. Ms. Phillips did an amazing job in balancing this hero. From his dominate side to his soft side nothing goes un-turned with Gabe’s character. Isabella is a true delight. This heroine has went through so many different levels of emotions. I thought she was going to be a huge basket case. I am happy to see Ms. Phillips gave her a bit of spark in her attitude, this made her not such a push over. Gabe and Isabella together are fun with the right amount of spicy to keep me interested in them. I want to know what the answer to their secret is, great pause moment. I suppose I will have to find out in the next book. Gabe and Isabella had just enough spark needed to shine on their own. They will be unforgettable to me. Supporting characters were in abundance. They added so much life to the lead characters and plot. I found myself smiling at Isabella and Lucy, their connection is just what they both needed. I think I enjoyed them both the most when they were giving Gabe a hard time. The plot is a basic love story that takes a bit to build, but they get there. Add in a jealous ex, a grabby lady friend and a hilarious family(Gabe’s) with undeniable passions running crazy then you get an unforgettable romance that will make you sizzle. Carly Phillips begins the NY Dares with a bang, can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

So she's a strong woman who leaves a domineering control freak, only to jump right into bed with another control freak, but he's better because he lets her have a career. And the sex is better so it doesn't matter that he ties her up and handcuffs her during sex. She's supposed to be a hero? Not in my book.

Izzy had a rough life. She had parents who gave her no attention and went straight into a relationship with a man who is despicable. No wonder she was extra cautious and quick to run from Gabe. I felt like Izzy was a weak character that became strong. She figured out how to stand on her own two feet, how to accomplish the career that she wanted, and how to be a woman with a strong alpha man that she loves. Gabe knows what he wants and has no problems going after it. With Izzy he had to figure out how to step back, let her figure out what she wanted without the pressure from him, and hope that he was what she ended up wanting. What I loved was that once he set his sights on Izzy he never let her out. He kept her safe, protected, and loved even when she didn’t know that is what she wanted. This is a short sexy book. I felt like at times the story was rushed. There were some things that could have been told more of. I still loved reading it. I devoured it quickly. I cannot wait for the rest of this series.

3.5 Stars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I have read other stories in the Invitation to Eden series and this was not quite what I was expecting. Although it makes sense where the story goes because it stays true to the Dare to Love series. In this instance, Eden is an exclusive island resort where Gabriel Dare is looking to expand to. Using this opportunity to get the girl he’s been fantasizing about for a long while, but all that while she was taken. Isabelle was in a bad relationship. Her submissive nature was abused and her confidence was on the floor. When she finally makes the decision to leave her boyfriend, he leaves her pretty much on the street, all thanks to that all controlling nature of their relationship. And Gabe comes to the rescue immediately. She’s known him for a while, but never as more than an acquaintance. And he is pretty out of her league. I struggle with this type of story because here we have a woman who needs time to get in the right mindframe after coming from this type of relationship in order to jump into a true submissive position with a very dominating alpha male. And Gabe needs that. As much as Isabelle wanted to give it, I couldn’t quite buy it at times. At least, past the physical. It was a bit of him being completely obsessed with having her, and she wasn’t sure where she belong so she was easily swayed in his direction. Overpowered. That being said, their chemistry is pretty hot, and I was excited to see more of the Dare family. This is a shorter story so I think it was an ok read for the page count, but I would’ve liked to see it developed a bit better, and given time to Isabelle to really stand on her own two feet. This was an enjoyable and quite fast read for me, even though it may not go to the top of my favorites. And I am ready for those Dare females to get their HEAs but I think I still have some way to go for that.
