As I'm beginning to read BDSM erotica more and more, bondage seems to be more of a plausible sex option for me. The pain and torture thing is obviously a turnoff, but Axterdam's book elaborates upon the intricacy of the ropes, as well as, of course, safety precautions, and the extensiveness of this not only sexual, but also sensual art fascinates me. Sadly, I'm a bit of a rookie. I haven't even done light bondage such as just using a blindfold (my sex life is a bore, right?). However, with this guide, I'm sure that's bound to change soon. The step-by-step instructions for Japanese Rope bondage, as well as the history and testimonials behind bondage and sexuality constitute this helpful, personal, and highly informative read. I recommend this one to newbies to the practice! Source: Received directly from publisher in exchange for an honest and unbiased review (thank you!)

This book is a very quick read that covers everything you ever wanted to know about bondage. The author gives background information from personal experience and wants to share his knowledge with others. He wrote it for his friends in mind, who kept asking him questions. The book starts out with the history of bondage and different aspects of sadomasochistic (S & M) activities. General rules to adhere to follow the history, and the author explains having a key word to use with you and your partner to indicate stop now. He is very detailed in safety measures as well. The author provides very detailed instructions for basic knot tying. He explains it and provides comprehensive illustrations. Accessories are also covered as well as scenarios. Dare to Try Bondage is definitely for mature audiences only, especially with the illustrations. There is a glossary at the back of the book, which covers all the Japanese words associated with bondage. A detailed resource section as well. With only 83 pages, this was a very quick read.
