The fifth exciting installment in Donna Grant’s Reaper series! Dark Alpha’s Night is the fifth exciting installment in Donna Grant’s Reaper series. This series shares a timeline and multiple characters with her Dark Kings’ series. I do not recommend it, but if you absolutely insist, you could read this as a stand alone as the romance is self-contained within this tale. That said, there is an overall series’ arc along with tie-ins to the author’s Dark Kings’ series which add together to make the series best read both in-order and in-tandem with the Dark Kings’ series. I am inhaling both series and, trust me, the way Donna interweaves the two makes for a richer reading experience. IF you are new to this series and the Dark Kings, just know that this series is about Reapers, who are elite fae assassins who answer to Death, a mysterious and beautiful female. The Reapers are on a series-long mission to save Death who is in dire straits, stop the traitorous Bran, and stop an upcoming war. Fans of the series will enjoy catching up with previous favorites as all the Reapers make appearances in this story. Readers may also expect many long-held secrets to be revealed. As this tale opens, the Reapers are desperately searching for Bran’s descendants who may very well hold the key as to why Bran’s dark powers are growing so rapidly while Death’s are mysteriously ebbing threatening her very existence. Emphasizing the importance of this mission, Reaper Daire has been pulled from his assignment shadowing Rhi. He finds three half-fae sisters on a family farm on the outskirts of Killarney, Ireland. Unfortunately, one - Ettie - appears to already be under Bran’s influence. Can Daire convince Ettie that she’s in danger and that she should not follow Bran’s bidding? Ettie is a big sister who has raised her two uniquely-talented younger sisters, Carrie and Jamie. Even though Carrie and Jamie are now full-grown, Ettie still feels responsible for them. Their father trained all three sisters to be ready to protect themselves and combat the evil fae, but, he failed to explain why that may occur making the whole scenario seem to be nothing more than a father’s fanciful fantasy. Ettie’s family situation makes things very interesting for the Reapers as they must discover and then cope with the diverse needs of all three women instead of just one. Can Daire and his fellow Reapers figure out why the sisters are of value to Bran before it’s too late? Daire’s and Ettie’s chemistry is off-the-charts hot and steamy! I love that Daire has found his mate and how they interact. She’s definitely no wallflower! Daire originally captured my heart as he stealthily followed Rhi in the previous books. He certainly has earned his HEA – but it won’t be easy. Donna makes him work for it! This tale is not quite as action-packed as the previous books have been, but, at the same time, there seems to be more disclosures related to the series’ arc which just has to be reaching a crisis point. I sure hope that Donna moves the plot quickly from here as it’s painful to watch Death as her powers wane. Next up is Dark Alpha’s Hunger releasing August, 2018.

Love Daire, but felt it was too rushed. Needed more time in developing the love story. Wish these were full length novels.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I own this series in ebook! The cover is steamy! This is the first book in the Reapers series that I have read. It is for adults only due to the steamy content. I really love how this world and the Dark Kings are one in the same. I went and bought the whole series of the Reapers, but I still need to collect the Dark Kings. Reading in order is not necessary, but I do suspect that you would enjoy it so much more having read it in order as well as the Dark Kings too! I learned a whole lot more about the Reapers in this book. I definitely like the group and their camaraderie. I loved reading Daire and Ettie's story! There was tons of mystery and intrigue as well as treachery from Bran. Both Daire and Ettie deserve happiness though they have both had some hard times especially Daire. I’m definitely in for reading the whole series! I can’t wait to read them all! I highly recommend to any fan of Donna Grant’s work or fae lovers who want a complex world filled with all sorts of paranormal kind! I can’t wait to see what Donna cooks up next!

This Reaper take is about Daire, the reaper we’ve met throughout Rhi’s storyline in the dragon series. Now that he’s back with the reapers, he starts to go a little stir crazy until a clue on their enemy’s next target. Even though I’d been secretly hoping he’d find happiness with Rhi, Ettie didn’t disappoint. I loved seeing a much more in depth look into him and getting to know Ettie. Very good book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

How far would you go to protect the ones that you love? Daire has been given a new mission to go and find Bran's descendants, he isn't happy as he has enjoyed his time with Rhi. But he knows that he has to help so that they can defeat Bran and find their fellow reaper Eoghan before it is too late. But he isn't expecting Ettie and her sisters, they have listened to their father tell them stories about the Fae but they have never seen any. So when Bran comes calling she knows that there is something strange about him and she can't understand why her sisters feel so stronger about him. Can she believe what Daire is telling her? She always believed her father and knowing that he was right all this time makes more sense about plan for his daughters. But can she trust Daire and the other reapers will they be able to stop Bran for good. Things don't go according to plan and Bran escapes but Daire has found the one that makes him whole. He has always fought against finding someone but his heart has chosen for him and he can't ask for a better partner. Ettie has a edge over Bran so hopefully they can use her strength in the coming fight. Death is slowly dying and she fears that she will become the one thing that she left behind and she doesn't want Cael to see her this way but he is angry with her. But can she be honest with him for both of their sakes? The war is heating up and I hope that they can destroy Bran and save Death before it is too late. No matter what Donna writes about they suck us straight in. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review

I love this universe of books, each one is more detailed and complex than the last, keeps getting better and better! This sends you on a rollercoaster as you go through the story, going from one emotion to another sometimes in the blink of an eye! I loved the direction this novel took, and can't wait to dig into the next story, thank you for the opportunity to review this work!!

Three equally fascinating women are featured in this Book #5 of A Reapers Novel series with Ettie being the main character. Ettie is the big sister who has been raising her two unique younger sisters Carrie and Jamie. These three sisters create a lot of back and forth sisterly competition. The reader will feel right at home if they have siblings as I did. The evil villian Bran is also a featured main character in this book and readers who have read early books to this series will see him in a different light mostly because he is a good actor at being who and what he wants to be to get what he wants. There is a part of me that feels compassion for him and how he suffered in the past but it is short lived because he is wicked. Daire has always intrigued me from the other books from this series. He kind of sits back and is the strong silent type. His relationship with Rhi has always caused me to wonder if he was silently in love with her. But the reader will understand clearly what his feeling are towards Rhi and what he will do to protect her. This interesting Reaper will come alive when he meets Ettie and this reader enjoyed how he became a dynamic hero in this story and was able to show Ettie her greatness. There is lots of action in this book and all the Reapers come into play. The scene with Death causes me pain and I really want Bran to go away and quit his progressive destruction of her. I look forward to the next book in this series because I have so many questions and resolutions that I need from this thrilling series. For this reason I give it 4.5 STARS.

I love Donna Grant's book, but this one seemed too manufactured. We have been following Daire for quite sometime and I felt like this book didn't do justice for him. Ettie and him make a good pair, but it just needed more. I really felt like this book was just filler.

Dark Alpha's Night is an exciting addition to the Reaper series. Bran is on his quest to kill Death and exact his revenge. He may be all charm to get what he wants but he's a ruthless killer. He's met his match when he tries to make Ettie give up her family's land to save her sisters. She will fight to protect those she loves. I enjoyed seeing her realize her powers. When she meets the Reaper Daire, her world changes. Their chemistry is powerful and left them both shocked. I loved their romantic relationship, but I wondered if they had a chance. This story is an exciting paranormal story. The characters are well written and larger than life. The setting adds to the suspenseful atmosphere. Donna Grant kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

Loved it but it ended to soon. Also Death hiding like primadona female is a little odd for her character.

I love Donna Grant's books and The Reapers are a fun spin off. However, while all the Reapers books move quickly and would be even better with a little more development this book in particularly felt off. There was no development between the characters at all. Their intensity came out of no where and didn't even make sense. The relationship was disjointed and had no intensity or arc. Daire deserved a far better story than this. We got more from him when he was following Rhi in the Dragon Kings books. All the Reapers books would be even more fun if they were just a little more fleshed out but this one was really disappointing. Donna Grant is a very good, very entertaining story teller usually. This lacked effort and care. Really very disappointing.

The next Reaper story was alright. I felt like they came together quickly and once they did, it was kind of rushed. It had a novella feel to the sequence of events. It was Daire’s story so I expected and wanted more. He is the Reaper that has been following Rhi, I feel like I’ve gotten to know him the best, so for his story I wanted it more elaborate like the Dark King’s books. I wanted it to have highs and lows, passion and adventure, and more development. I did like the character of Ettie and the concept of the sword of Erith’s. What is happening to Death is adding more to the overall plot of the series and I want more from her and Cael. I did enjoy the story, but it doesn’t stand out like some others in the Dark universe.  This was an enjoyable read, but because of it being Daire's story I just wanted more.

Donna Grant has created such a magical world, you can’t help but wish is was real. Recommend reading in order. You will fall in love with warriors, dragons, fae, and reapers. So glad to see Daire and Ettie found there hea, and will fight together.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. This edition of the Reapers series focuses on Daire and Ettie. Daire is a Reaper. He works for Death. Ettie is human but part fae - which she didn't know. This particular book focuses on the war Death has with a fallen Reaper and the fallen's insistence in taking over the world. Anyway, Daire and Ettie find themselves seriously attracted to one another. Daire recognizes his mate but Ettie has zero clue about any of that stuff. They chat. They make out. They go further. HA! Y'all read it and see. This particular book is short. 158 pages +/-. You'll find yourself wanting to learn more about each of these characters. You'll also want to shake Death and tell her to get a freakin' grip...she's Death for goodness sake's. We can't have a wimpy Death. If you like paranormal give this one and or the series a try!

This is book 5 in the Reaper's books and I highly recommend that you read the previous books in this series so you understand everything that is happening and exactly what the story ARC has going on. These books are also loosely connected to the Dark Kings series but you don't have to read those books to read this series and understand what is going on. The characters just cross over and that series is excellent as well. This one is about the Reaper Daire who we have seen in the previous books as well in some of the Dark Kings books as he is the one who has been watching Rhi. He has been sent to find out about some halflings that they are looking for and meets Ettie. Ettie and her sisters know that they are part fae because their father told them but they aren't sure they truly believe that after never having seen a fae. Now they are suddenly thrown into Reaper issues that they had no clue about and aren't sure exactly how to deal with it. Add in Ettie and Daire's unusual attraction to each other and the other issues going on with Death that the Reapers know nothing about. There was so much happening in this book that pushed the bigger story ARC along that you can't help but love this book! I was really looking forward to Daire's story and this book didn't disappoint a bit! Daire and Ettie together were not only hot but they seemed to truly connect and just understand each other. Ettie was not only loving towards her family but this woman was strong enough to stand up to Bran and not back down when she needed to! Add in all the other tidbits thrown in there that help to keep you guessing and I absolutely loved this book. After reading that epilogue though? I really hope Eoghan's story is next because I really feel like he needs a savior! Great read!

DARK ALPHA’S NIGHT is the fifth instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult REAPER paranormal, fantasy romance series. The REAPERS is a spin off from Donna’s DARK KINGS series which is a spinoff from Donna’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. You do not have to have read any of the previous series to understand the premise but many of the events overlap with the events of the Dark Kings. This is Reaper Daire, and Fae Halfling Ettie OByrne’s story line. Daire has been on assignment following Rhi (a Light Fae warrior) in the Dark Kings series, but his return to the Reapers means the possibility of finding his future. SOME BACKGROUND: The Reapers (believed to be a folk lore amongst the Fae) are a group of Dark and Light Fae, selected by Death (aka Erith), on their own deathbed, to do her bidding-Death is the judge and jury; the Reapers are the executioners. The Reapers are not harbingers of death, but are tasked with destroying the Light and Dark Fae who have crossed a line from which there is no return. All Reapers must follow two rules: never to fall in love; and never to reveal their existence to anyone. If you have read Donna’s DARK KINGS series you will recognize the familiarity between the two series as both follow a similar plot and premise including betrayal by one of their own. Bran is a former Reaper who fell in love but Death ended their relationship by destroying his heart and the woman he loved, sentencing Bran to Netherworld for millions of years. Upon his escape, Bran sets about to destroy the Reapers, and seeks revenge against the woman known as Death. Told from several third person perspectives including Ettie and Daire DARK ALPHA’S NIGHT follows Daire and the Reapers as they go in search of Bran’s descendants-Fae and half-Fae whose magical powers may be used against the Reapers and the women they love. Enter Ettie O’Byrne, and her younger sisters Carrie and Jamie who, for all of their lives, had been preparing for a possible attack by the Fae. What ensues is the building romance between Ettie and Daire; and the discovery of magic and power shrouding the O’Bryne lands. Death is dying; her powers have been slowly siphoned off such that Death is no longer able to help the men and women who do her bidding. As the Reapers continue their search for Bran, Bran continues to seek revenge against Death and her Reaping minions. Ettie O’Byrne is a warrior; preparing all of her life for the inevitable meeting with the Fae but Ettie never expected to be caught up in a war between good and evil, and it is Ettie who may hold the clue for what it is Bran is looking. The relationship between Daire and Ettie is quick to develop although someone else has staked a claim on our story line heroine. Bran needs something that Ettie hides but Ettie is unaware of the item or its existence. Daire becomes guardian and protector of the woman with whom he is falling in love but Bran’s powers are growing exponentially, and the Reapers are seriously out-powered by the man they once called a friend. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. DARK ALPHA’S NIGHT explains and discloses some of the history between Bran and the Reapers, as well as the truth about Death’s beginnings and her true identity. The premise is exciting and affecting; the characters are dynamic and charismatic.

Reapers are Fae who have died but have been brought back by Death to do her bidding. Don’t be fooled into thinking that Death is a dark, ugly, scary monster who is out to indiscriminately take lives. She is a beautiful ethereal being who is losing her power day by day to the dark Fae Bran. What’s more, neither her nor her army of reapers can kill Bran. So far only one hafling has been able to harm him. The reapers are now on the trail of Bran’s ancestors, believing that Bran will be after them. The reaper’s research has let them to Killarney, Ireland to the O’Byrne sisters. Ettie, along with her two younger sisters Carrie and Jamie have always been told by their father that they needed to be prepared. For what, Ettie isn’t sure, but she believes that it may have something to do with the stories of Fae that their father told them their whole lives. Even though they have never gotten any evidence to their existence, it seems that things are about to change and Ettie is about to discover just how real those stories are... Daire, along with his fellow reapers, is on the trace of Bran. What he didn’t expect to find was a stunning blonde who has spent her whole life protecting and taking care of her two sisters and who happens to be an exceptional fighter. The chemistry between Ettie and Daire is instant and intense and my only regret is that we didn’t get to witness it enough. I only wish that the Reaper novels could be longer or that they could be released in shorter periods of time because I truly can’t get enough!!!! Love this series! Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dark Alpha's Night is the fifth book in the Reaper series by Donna Grant. This exciting new series is a continuation of Dark World series. It brings to light new faces along with a deeper insight into the Reapers of the Dark and Light Fae who work under Death, who were teased about in the Dark World series till now and were depicted as the bogeyman of the Fae realm. While some of the favorite characters from the Dark World series do make cameos in the Reaper books, the focus is on illuminating a new mythos with brand new characters and relationships. We were introduced to this new world and the dark court with Dark Alpha's Claim, the first book in the series. Now we delve deeper into their world. This book introduces Ettie O’Byrne, a half fae descendent of Bran. She's very intelligent and along with her sisters waits for a world she is destined to play an important role in. Unbeknownst to her, her family has protected Death's sword for generations and she has the power to summon and wield it. Daire is a highly powerful light fae who was made a reaper by Death. He along with his compatriots is one of the fae's fabled executioners on the orders of Death, who acts as Judge and Jury. Together, Daire and Ettie work together to save themselves from Bran and try to find a way to break the his hold and protect Erith's (Death) sword. This book does justice to its name and is truly spellbinding. Donna Grant creates characters with such depth that you just can't help rooting for them.

I was lucky enough to get in on this spin-off series from the beginning BUT sometimes wish that I had started from the beginning of this wonderfully crafted world filled with stories of warriors, dragons, fae, halflings and others…it is enchanting and enthralling and makes me eager to read whatever comes next…even when I am not 100% sure what the storyline was before the book I am currently reading. I will sometimes search out reviews of books that precede a book I am getting ready to read so that I have some idea of what has preceded…that said… I loved this book! I am engaged in the series I want to read the story of each and every Reaper I am eager to find out if Death/War/Erith and Cael with ever get their HEA I really REALLY want to get the entire series at some point in time and read them from beginning to end This series would make a WONDERFUL TV series ;) Okay…the story… It is Daire’s turn to find true love and he finds it with a Halfling, Ettie, who has been raised with her sisters “to be ready” – for what – they have not a clue. So they have trained in the art of war and waited and now it is time for them to become embroiled in the war brewing between Bran and Erith… So much happened in a novella length story and all of it was good. Daire and Ettie ended up together. Bran was thwarted again. Insights were given into how Bran is increasing his power and Death is losing hers. We learned more about Death and a bit more about her time before she took on the moniker Death. There was mention of characters in other series and what I found most intriguing was the simple way the previous characters’ stories were shared so that a newbie to the series would not be totally lost. Did I like this story? Yes Do I recommend it? Yes Will I read more by this author? Definitely Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

I was graciously given an ARC copy of Dark Alpha's Night from NetGalley and St Martin's Press in exchange for my honest opinion. Dark Alpha's Night by Donna Grant is book five in the Reaper series. Dark Alpha's Night could be read as a stand-alone as all past information is summarized but I would not suggest it. These books take place in conjunction with the Dark Kings and have crossed over characters on occasion. The Reaper series is worth the experience and should be read in its entirety if possible. The Reapers are Death's secret executioners of the Light and Dark Fae. Reaper Bran broke Death's rule of secrecy when he told his fae lover of their existence. Bran attacks and kills his fellow Reapers following his lover's execution for his transgression. Death imprisons Bran, but centuries later he escapes. The current Reaper faction is trying to thwart Bran's attempts to gain influence and steal Death's magic. The latest Reaper installment reveals things on the continuing subplots, and I read in part for these insights. Rhi is again confirmed to have great significance in the wars going on. Death finds herself facing a choice that will affect not only her but her Reapers as well. I enjoy plots about a bigger world, and Donna Grant's Dark World is one of the best. Daire has been on a side mission for Death for most of the Reaper series. I worried Daire would get too attached to the one he was sent to observe during this assignment. Thankfully this story alleviated the concern I had for Darie's affections, and I am pleased how things ended for him. The seductive power of the Reapers, or any fae for that matter, is intense and Daire is no exception. Each romance in the Reaper books gets right to the point, partly I think due to their novella status. I typically have an issue with declarations of love expressed only days after the couple meets. These books don't bother me too much when this occurs. These characters have been alone for so long they should take the opportunity for love when it presents itself. And I am invested in their lives so wish it for them as much as I hope they can find what they need to defeat Bran. I enjoy how Donna Grant writes her fae. The Reaper series continues to hold my attention and I suggest giving them a try. All opinions are my own and may not be identical to others. I urge all readers to come to their own conclusions.

So happy Daire has found his mate. I have more questions than answers is this book. The big question is why don't the Reapers ask the Dragon Kings for help? I know Donna has a plan for both series so my question is a moot point but it's still a question I have. Daire finally stops following Rhi around and this is when he finds his mate. I really like Ettie and wonder how she will fit in at the end of this series. Like I said I have more questions than answers in this book and yes I am repeating myself. *Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this for my honest review*

Grant has created a paranormal world filled with dragons, reapers, fae and other beings including DEATH. Many installments in this series and I find it confusing with all the characters involved. This tale centers around three half fae sisters who hold the secret to the defeat of Bran who seems unstoppable and who has been sucking the power from Death herself. Reaper Daire seeks the three sisters to obtain their aid only to realize they only know themselves as human. A low action in Dark Alpha Night and the multitude of threads just made this a two star rating for me. Would be great world to follow for those who devour series novels. "A copy of this book was provided by St. Martin's Press via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

This is most definitely a series best read in order with lots of characters that actually connect to the authors Dragon King stories. Yes here we get Reapers but it's a book that's all about the Fae and even Death who just happens to be a person and with this instalment some of her secrets just might be coming to light. So essentially the Reapers work for Death as her executioners and it's their job to make sure that the Fae don't overrun the human realm. They are frantically trying to find the descendants of Bran a former Reaper whose dark powers are growing . Daire tracks down three sisters who are clearly Half-Fae but he's obviously too late as one of them seems to be under Brans spell ! Can Daire convince Ettie that she's in danger ? More to the point though is exactly what does Bran want from Ettie ? Daire is a character who has been off on an assignment for Death so readers of the Dragon King books probably have wondered exactly who he would be partnered with. Well step forward Ettie and I have to say when it comes to passion and romance this couple don't wait around ! Frankly it's a little too fast for me but works in these books which are slightly shorter. There are huge clues in this book about the overall story arc although a lot less action than in some but nevertheless I did enjoy it and will continue to read this series as things are definitely hotting up. This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
