Wow! It is not an exaggeration to say, that 'Dark Lands Requiem' is a novel, unlike I have never read before. The surreal setting, the unique characters and the unusual and exciting story, made for a novel that was so special. Although the book delves into the world of fantasy, the real story of Lyn I. Kelly's novel, is the relationship and bond between brother and sister. But, it is also a book about the oldest battle there is, the battle between good and evil, and unfortunately for Webb and Sundown, the strength of evil is growing. The must learn to control and strengthen their newly discovered powers, if they stand a chance of survival.

Can I just say to those who don't really read fantasy fiction, and assume that this isn't their thing, just to give it a try. You won't be disappointed, you will have a few magical hours, and a new appreciation for a genre of fiction that you'll be excited to explore. Dark Lands follows siblings Sundown an Webb as they awaken in the realm that exists between the living and the dead. An almighty battle between good and evil is brewing and there is so much at stake. I loved how Webb and Sundown, along with the wonderful Raven, found such courage in themselves and within each other. The relationships and characters are written so well, I was so invested in their fate, especially at the breathtaking ending. What an amazing read, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Webb wakes up in a strange land, but his first thought is for his sister, Sundown, who lays unconscious beside him. But, there are greater worries to come for the siblings, there is a creature growling in the distance, and a challenge for survival on the horizon. Although there are plenty of enemies seeking destruction in the Dark Lands, there is one that poses more danger than any other...the Dark Man. This ancient evil, not only threatens Webb and Sundown, but the Dark Lands and the Human realm too. Along with their new ally Raven, how will the siblings prepare for the battle that is coming? I'm not going to give away any more of the plot, but be prepared for some amazing scenes, plenty of excitement, and a and ending that will have you on the edge of the sofa! Dark lands Requiem is a triumph of a fantasy novel.

Wow. The teens in Dark Lands have a whole lot more to deal with than wondering what to wear on a weekend. The book is set in a place known as The dark Lands, which as you can imagine is not somewhere you end up when things are coming-up-roses. The Land is akin to an alternate heaven/hell. The main characters must go through a series of challenges in order to decide which path they will choose for their life / afterlife. This book is very thought provoking and requires you to contemplate what you might do if you were in the shoes of Webb and his younger sister.

I really enjoyed the fantasy elements in 'Dark Lands'. The author effectively describes a place that is other-worldly, and gives detailed descriptions of the landscapes, sights, sounds and smells. Dark Lands is a foreboding realm that the main character finds himself inhabiting after a frightening encounter on Earth. It is an imaginative story, with a great scope to have follow up books. I look forward to seeing what is in store for Webb and his sister Sundown in the next installment.

Fantasy fiction is back on my radar thanks to 'Dark Lands Requiem' from Lyn I. Kelly. Her writin is descriptively beautiful, both surreal and magical, whilst also being dark and sinister in parts. The relationships between the chraracters, particularly between siblings Sundown and Webb, are believable, strong and moving. From the very first chapters, I was drawn into Kelly's world and I remained there until I turned the final page. It was an afternoon well spent on a lazy and rainy Sunday. The journey begins with Webb waking up in a mysterious place - it is the land that exists between the living and the dead. But the troubles for Webb and his sister don't end there, there is a battle brewing and with it comes inconceivable danger. I enjoyed this novel, that as soon as I finished, I ordered the second int he Dark Lands series immediately and I really hope there are more to come. I said it before in my review of Dark Lands Not Where, and I will say it again, fantasy fictionn has a new star in Lyn I. Kelly.

Requiem is a great fantasy book for young adults. As the title suggests, it is a dark and potentially apocalyptic tale of a world that exists outside our current realm of knowledge. Teenager Webb and his younger sister are faced with the decision of whether to go through reincarnation, resurrection, ascend to heaven, or submit to a true death. I thought the characters were believable and likeable, and that the relationships between them worked well. I worried about them and empathised with them, and was glad I was sitting 'up here' reading about them, and not having to face the trials they were facing. I'm intrigued to see what happens in the follow-up.

I love the idea of Dark Lands, that there is another alternate to heaven or hell. In Dark Lands, Webb and Sundance find that even after death there is some compassion and familiarity and things don't have to be entirely doomed and terrifying. The 'Comfort Room' adds a little piece of home and gives them the strength to remember what it was like to be alive. I like that even after being chased by deathly apparitions of glob-like wraiths, they can go here to have cheeseburgers and ice-cream. There is plenty action to keep you guessing and the story lends itself perfectly to a follow-up which I am eager to read.

Landscape and an ominous backdrop play an important part in creating the eerie and uncertain world of Dark Lands. When the main characters find themselves thrown into this place, they have to try and unravel why, and what their next move is going to be. What ensues is a great battle between the powers of good and evil, and the youngsters form an important part of the good-side attempting to save all of creation from.....The Dark Man. I found this book to be a little scary at times, but appropriately so for teens or young adults. The characters were interesting and well developed.

The Dark Lands exist between life and death - the people there have died in the world, and are there to maintain the balance of good and evil so that all creation won't be destroyed. The young hero, 17 year old Webb, and his younger sister, Sundown, 14, arrive there with no memory of having died, and are plunged into a battle with the minions of The Dark Man.These evil creatures, and other foes they meet, are very convincing villains. Soon they find friendly people who are there to teach them what they must know to maintain the crucial balance. I found the writing very good, the characters well written and sympathetic, and the story intriguing. It would be a good book for young adults or adults, who are into alternate worlds and the ultimate battle between good and evil.

With inventive characters, and a surreal setting, 'Darklands' is a fantasy fiction with some unique ideas. This is a story about the bond between brother and sister, and their struggle to survive in a dark and scary place. The limbo-world they are thrown into after an unfortunate event tests their strength and courage. There is a lovely depiction of family unity in this story, and I enjoyed the relationships between the main characters. It is easy to read, I am keen to find out how things develop between Sundance, Webb and Raven in the follow up book.
