Dark Pursuits by Brandilyn Collins

“Ever hear the dead knocking?” Novelist Darell Brooke lived for his title as King of Suspense—until an auto accident left him unable to concentrate. Two years later, reclusive and bitter, he wants one thing: to plot a new novel and regain his reputation. Kaitlan Sering, his twenty-two-year-old granddaughter, once lived for drugs. After she stole from Darell, he cut her off. Now she’s rebuilding her life. But in Kaitlan’s town two women have been murdered, and she is about to discover a third. She’s even more shocked to realize the culprit is her boyfriend, Craig, the police chief’s son. Desperate, Kaitlan flees to her estranged grandfather. For over forty years, Darell Brooke has lived suspense. Surely he’ll devise a plan to trap the cunning Craig. But can Darell’s muddled mind do it? And—if he tries—with what motivation? For Kaitlan’s plight may be the stunning answer to the elusive plot he seeks . . .

A grandfather makes an unlikely hero, but it works. There's more here than you first suspect. A good story approached from different characters' viewpoints.

Darrell Brooks, the best selling "King of Suspense," is struggling to write his 100th book after an accident stole his ability to concentrate. But he's going to need all his mental powers when his estranged granddaughter finds a body in her apartment and suspects her boyfriend, a cop, put it there. I loved this Christian thriller. The characters were good, but the character development at the end was a little abrupt.

WOW! This book was so good. From the beginning to the end, it kept me going. A young woman is on the run from her boyfriend who she obviously didnt know too well and runs for help to her grandfather who isnt too crazy about her. Stuck in a world of making swift decisions, she must act fast in every direction she turns. And the end is no disappointer. Definitely get this book. God bless!

WOW from the minute I started reading it I was caught up in the mystery. I couldn't put it down. Once again Brandilyn Collins has written a book that is a fast paced page turner. I really recommend this book, you will not be sorry.

Dark Pursuit is a good book. It's not great but adequate. It's not horrifying but there are moments of suspense. It's not religious - it actually seems as if the sections about praying and living for God are an afterthought. The better part of the story is her relationship with her grandfather and his housekeeper. It's not something I'd go out to buy but if you're unable to find anything else in the library that looks interesting it's not a bad book.
