The Ku Klux Klan has opened a chapter in Daisy Gumm Majesty's home town of Pasadena, California. Worse, Klan members are harassing Joseph Jackson, the gatekeeper for Daisy's best client, Mrs. Pinkerton.
When Mrs. Pinkerton also becomes a target of vicious pranks, Daisy tries to get Detective Sam Rotondo, her new leading man, involved.
Sam isn't thrilled. Worse, the bodies are piling up, and now he needs Daisy's help speaking to some of the Klan's victims.
That makes Daisy a target, forcing Sam to redouble his efforts and keep Daisy from doing in the Klan with a zinc bucket and a baseball bat.

I am a mystery reader. I like complicated plots. I like international espionage. I like period/historical pieces. I like clever characters. I like endearing stories . I like simple mysteries well written. I like mysteries set in places I can relate to. In other words, I like mysteries. I read my first Daisy Gumm Majesty book as a free Friday selection and enjoyed the characters, story and over all premise. Nothing sinister, just an old fashioned story set in Pasadena after WWI with a simple cast of characters. I have since read all the series, this book being the last at present. I look forward to more. I enjoy Alice Duncan's writing style, her cast of characters and Pasadena Ca in the 1920s. I would recommend starting with the first book in the series "Strong Spirits" if you are a person who likes to follow your characters through their lives. I have certainly enjoyed them all.
The "Daisy Gumm Majesty Mystery" series is great. I have read them all, and totally enjoy them.
I love, love, LOVE, these books! They are so much fun to read and are very entertaining. Definitely worth trying out.
