The plot is captivating and the implications are chilling. Those are my first thoughts when it comes to Webb's latest release. Time and time again I found myself thinking 'could you just imagine.' The intimate manner in which this story was presented kept me coming back for more as I tried to unravel the unforgettable tale that Webb has woven. The characters that she developed were interesting and approachable without being common. I quite enjoyed the different ways in which they were developed, allowing me to get to know them through the story itself. Once again Webb has created a fast paced, chilling read full of romance and suspense. It is a fantastic weekend read! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Debra Webb’s Faces of Evil series is one of my all-time favorites. She managed to ratchet up the suspense with each installment and keep the reader engaged with a long-term plotline and consistent characters. With her newest Intrigue for Harlequin she takes the series and pushes it somewhere new, with great success. Clint Hayes was always one of my favorite secondary characters in the FoE series. Even though I didn’t trust him at first, Webb redeemed him over the course of the series. He is the perfect choice for the first book in this new series. He completely deserves his own HEA. Natalie is his perfect match, even as the survivor of a Traumatic Brain Injury. Natalie’s life was put on hold two years earlier when she suffered a near life ending fall down the stairs. Now the events of two years ago are resurfacing to endanger her life once again. Clint is one of the few that believes her and agrees to protect her while they find the truth. There are enough cameos from the FoE team to make long-time readers happy. Those new to the world will find Webb’s world building in-depth and will easily move into the series. Much like the Colby series, the FoE looks to last a good long time, much to reader’s delight. Copy received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book in the spin off of Debra Webbs Faces of evil series. In this book Clint Hayes has joined his former boss, Jess Harris Burnett in her new private investigation agency. His first client is Natalie Drummond, After suffering a TBI she has gaps of memory and shes convinced she killed someone but no one can find a body. In this fast paced book Clint is convinced Natalie is in danger and is up to him to figure out from who and why. Debra Webb Doesn't Disappoint with this book it is just as fantastic as the faces of evil series

I was given an ARC of Dark Whispers from the author for an honest review and this is my review. It was great having a new Faces of Evil book even if it was completely different from what we are use too and what we have grown to love from this series. This is the new new Faces of Evil. Everyone has moved on in their jobs, a number of the team members have gotten married and have had children and now here we are with Jess and Buddy opening up a PI firm together, I mean who would have thought that? Their first case has Clint who has also left the police force with Jess trying to help a woman, Natalie, prove that she actually shot an intruder in her home. Needless to say the first case for Clint as a PI is full of twist and turns and a bit of romance for this tough lawman who has sworn off commitment. It was great seeing old faces from this beloved series but sort of bitter sweet with all the time that was missed and a few hookups that were also mentioned in this book that us dedicated readers did not get to enjoy unfolding in our books. I am giving this book five out of five stars.

Eerie and thrilling, intriguing tale with culprits so close to home you would never want to suspect them for the crimes committed. I liked how the story started with the connection to the 'mother series' this is a spinoff from. The unexpected point of view and the history to start the PI firm nicely gave new readers the background information they needed to start on the series. The puzzle Natalie and Clint are putting together is not only nearly impossible to solve because of her memory loss, but it seems that the key players keep ending up dead. That creates an intense atmosphere, and with every single clue the person behind the mystery comes closer to home. So many events are connecting, and the evil, deadly force coming closer to Natalie. I admit I had chills at one point while reading this. The energy is vivid, the violence is harsh, and the 'whodunnit' isn't clear to the reader because of the multiple possibilities that just keeps accumulating as the story goes on. Natalie's memory issue is cleverly done,it is believable, real, scary, and the worst nightmare most has at one time of their lives, 'what if I forget who I am one day'?! The romance stays in the background, as Natalie and Clint are focused on finding the keys to the mystery and to keep Natalie alive. But the feelings between them are credible and evident, the attraction detectable, their desire to each other palpable. I enjoyed the foundation that was created to the new series, the characters piqued my interest, and I'm looking forward to more to come in the series. Fascinating and entertaining suspense mixed with charming, appealing romance ~ Four Spoons

YET ANOTHER EXCELLENT READ by DEBRA WEBB I could not put this book down! Debra Webb has created an excellent new path for Jess Harris Burnett and her team in this new series for Harlequin Intrigue, continuing the journey of delving into Faces of Evil and how to stop them. Twists and turns you didn't see coming, self-defense, gas lighting or not - you decide, and a villain who sneaks up from behind both literally and figuratively.

I was given an ARC of Dark Whispers from the author for an honest review and this is my review. I hadn't relaxed with a good book for many busy years when I read a synopsis of Debra Webb's Faces of Evil series. I was so intrigued, I read every Faces of Evil book as fast as I could. So, I feel totally delighted that Harlequin picked up this important series. There are two things I like the most in Debra's writing: (1) I love the characters, want to know them better, and can't wait to see what they'll be up to next; and (2) Debra brings such relevant topics into her story line, that I find them intriguing as well as informative. Let me give you an example of character development from Dark Whispers. We've seen Clint Hayes, former police detective, in the other Faces of Evil books. He's well-dressed, well-healed but enigmatic. We don't know his background and what drives him. As a reader, I sure wanted to know why he acts the way he does. Dark Whispers answered all the questions I had about Clint. I loved Debra's heroine. The story development around her traumatic brain injury and how it changed her life was handled with great effect. Is the heroine dreaming, hallucinating, viewing real time events? We just don't know, but I could imagine what confusion and frustration TBI causes for people by reading about Natalie. Overall, this is a story of redemption. When Clint and Natalie interact, their past begins to resolve. That this resolution came wrapped up in an intriguing, serial killer profile wrap was amazing!! I highly recommend this book to Debra's readers, and if you like intelligent murder mysteries, encourage you to explore the Faces of Evil series.

After finally catching The Player, Eric Spears, everything will call down and return back to normal in Birmingham; right? Now 18 months later, Jess Harris Burnette and her husband Dan Burnett are enjoying parenthood and expecting a second child. Jess and her long-time friend Buddy Corlew have opened their own private investigator office. They were extremely lucky that Clint Hayes, a former detective for Jess is now working for them. Their first case is Natalie Drummond. Everyone thinks Natalie is imagining all the strange things going on in her life because of a head injury she received previously. She says she shot an intruder but there is no body, no blood and the gun is missing. But Jess takes on the case and assigns Clint to investigate Natalie’s claim and protect her. Will Clint find any evidence to support Natalie’s stories of what is happening or will Natalie end up being silenced? What does she know that she isn’t remembering? Clint will do everything to protect Natalie and find out the truth. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as seeing where the much loved characters from one of my favorite series, The Faces of Evil, by one of my favorite authors, Debra Webb, are now. I can’t wait for the next book!!!

This book is a once started, can’t put down book. While it is a part of the “Faces of Evil” series, you can read it and not need all of the back books to be able to follow the story. While I would suggest that you read the other books. They are all well written, with a great story line. I do not like to give spoilers, however this book is exceptional. The story is about Clint Hayes and Natalie Drummond, He was hired as a Private Investigator by Natalie to help her investigate a possible Murder. Sorry that’s all the spoilers that I can give. Read the book, you will definitely not be sorry. Loved it

Debra Webb has done it again with this new spin-off to her amazing Faces of Evil series. The main cast of characters from the original series have cameo appearances in this new book with a few being the main characters in this great story. Jess and Buddy have joined together to start a PI firm. Joining the firm is former detective Clint Hayes who like Jess has left the force. Their first case is attorney Natalie Drummond who is in a 2 year recovery from a traumatic brain injury and knows she shot an intruder in her house. However when the police arrive they find no evidence and declare it an hallucination. Determined to prove them wrong she hires jess's PI firm and Clint is assigned the case. There are many twists and turns entered and discovered as the investigation evolves leading to a shocking conclusion and a bit of romance. This is a very enjoyable read that should not be missed.

Dark Whispers, the first in the spin off series of Debra Webb's The Faces of Evil This book does not disappoint! Same amazing characters and of course Debra Webb's fantastic writing and story telling! Natalie Drummond isn't sure of anything anymore after an accident has left her with gaps in her memory but she is sure that she shot an intruder but no one will believe her and the body and the gun have disappeared. Clint Hayes has joined his former boss, Jess Harris Burnett, in her newly established Privet Investigation service and Natalie is his first client. It becomes clear to him fast that someone is out to kill her and it is up to him to protect her and find the culprit. In true Debra Webb style this is a clock ticking, fast action and emotional ride through the pages as you devour the words to get to the end! As is with all of her work, you will love the strong character development and intense writing that drives the investigation to the surprising ending! Woohoo Debra Webb! Loved it!

Clint Hayes, left his job as a homicide detective to work with his former boss, Jess Harris Burnett. Jess has decided to open her own private investigation service. Jess Harris Burnett, was a former FBI profiler and she was also Deputy Chief of major crimes. Jess Burnett and Buddy Corlew decided to open a private investigation agency together. Natalie Drummond, is an attorney, who suffered a traumatic brain injury. After her fall she has had laps in memory which makes her think she losing her mind or going crazy. Her brother and sister believe that she is hallucinating. That can some time happen with TBIs (head traumatic). Natalie, is a possible new client, and after Clint, listen to Natalie story he believes with all of his instinct that there is more than what he was told. The one thing that Clint is known is for his strong instinct and he is convinced that someone is trying to kill Natalie. He takes the case because Natalie, is in need of his protection and he would like to find out who and why this is being done to her. If you haven’t read the Faces of Evil series than it is a must read. I love that this is a spin-off series from the original Faces of Evil series. With every book of Debra Webb, books that I have read, she really knows how to keep you coming back for more. If you are looking for a book that has lots of suspense and romance. Than you have found it. Happy reading.

Clint is a private investigator working for Jess (I think Jess and Clint were in the other series). Natalie has gaps in her memory from a fall down stairs in her home. She was a lawyer but now cannot trust her memories. She has some very cryptic memories surfacing and someone is trying to kill her or did she kill someone? Very action packed with an intriguing story-line. ... I will definitely read more of Debra’s books and I highly recommend this one. I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
