Jus Accardo you have disappointed me!   I LOVE the Denazen series so when I heard about this book I was sooo excited for another awesomely snarky female lead.  Unfortunately it fell flat.  Don't get me wrong it's an okay book but my expectations were so high going in that I can't get over my disappointment.  Jessie Darker was snarky but not in a good way and it was hard to get over her obvious lust/insta love for Lukas.  More than anything Jessie just flat out annoyed me. I also had a hard time going along with the story.  At times it seemed like the story was moving unrealistically fast and other times it drug on.  There was plenty going on and a lot of unexpected realizations but I just wanted it to be so much more.  The ending was the only time I got really into the book but I still don't think I will read the next one. My advice to you is if you are familiar with Accardo don't go in expecting anything, rather have an open mind so that maybe you will have a better chance of enjoying the book.

This book is so cute! I loved every bit of it. Jus Accardo has taken bounty hunting to a different level. Jessie Darker – the main character, is a fun, stubborn gal that a lot of us can probably relate to. Then she and her mom have to battle to get all the 7 deadly sins, back into a box to be locked forever. Only, Jessie fell in love with one guy who has been trapped with the sins. This story isn’t believeable – I mean come on, wouldn’t happen in real life! But that’s the best part about stories, we can be immersed in different worlds! Jus Accardo has given us a world, a place, where our nightmares are real, where good always has to battle evil, and where love can cause you to do weird things! Definitely a good read!!!

Jessie Darker lives an interesting life. By day, she is your "normal" teenager attending high school. After hours, she is a paranormal detective who knows how to get rid of zombies and demons. She lives in an apartment above the offices of Darker Agency. It was founded by one of her ancestors and they continue on in the tradition of ridding people of their otherworldly problems. Life is good and predictable in a way until Lukas asks for help. He was recently released from a box, a box that held seven sins. They are loose and are creating havoc wherever they go. There job is to get them back in the box within the next seven days, or they will forever be free. The catch is that somehow they need to trap the other six and set Lukas free. Jessie is a fun character to read about. She has a lot of attitude and is quick on her feet. She is not one to quietly follow directions, no she likes to do her own thing, even if she is going against the rules. Jus Accardo has written a well thought out book. It is full of action and has a little romance. The characters are all interesting and enough information is given about them to understand them and why they made their decisions and why the act certain ways. This book does contain violence, swearing, innuendo, and kissing.  I would recommend for readers 16+.  I received an ARC edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have only read one other book by this author, the first book in the Denazen series, and I absolutely loved it. The big thing I loved was the main character, who was so snarky and feisty. I love characters like that.  And I was delighted when I started Darker Days to find that Jessie was just as snarky and feisty. I really liked her. She makes some really silly mistakes sometimes but she was still totally bad ass. And given that this is only the first book in a series she can only get better as the series progresses. The story line itself was very interesting. The Seven Deadly Sins aspect was fascinating and it really hooked me in. There was loads of twists and turns and the book takes place over the space of 5 days so it was very fast paced. But because of the 5 days, there was a bit of insta love, which did slightly bug me but not too much. Lukas and Jessie had great chemistry. Lukas was so adorable and sweet, the two of them were really great together. All in all this was an action packed thrill ride with tons of laugh out loud moments and and I cannot wait to dive into book 2.

I loved this whole series.  I started out with the first book and just kept going.  Dez was I character that made you just want to keep reading to she what she would do next.  Kale was such an unexpected breath of fresh of  fresh air. If your looking for a great read this author has it. I was hoping that the next book in the series was out  but as my luck would have it not yet.  I'm about to start on Jus Accardo is a fantastic writer she knows how to get a reader and keep them until the last page and leave them wanting more.  With Dez and Kale always the two coming together and getting torn apart it seems nothing can keep them apart long.  I love it.  If your looking for a fast paced keep you on the edge of your seat this is the author for you.  I can't wait to see what she has in store for Dez and Kale in her next book.  I give her 5/5 stars I couldn't put the book down I had to just keep going to see what would happen next.  I laughed and cried and held my breath.  The two stole my heart.  As I'm sure they will steal your's.

Jessie Darker does not have a normal life. Underneath the average high school student is the girl who fights things that go bump in the night. Her mom wants her to have a semi-normal life but, that's kind of hard to do when your in their line of work. Luckily for Jessie, she actually likes what she does. Little does she know her life is about to change when Lukas Scott walks in. His request seems like it shouldn't be terrible to complete. However, it comes with consequences that neither Jessie nor her mom saw coming. Innocent lives are at risk and their time to complete the task is minimal. Will Jessie and her mom be able to get the Sins back in the box?  Jessie and Lukas both have their secrets. Lukas struggles with his on almost a daily basis. It is hard for him to stay in control. When a ghost from his past turns up, things get crazy. Jessie does her best to have her life and work at the agency. I felt like she didn't really get to do a lot of things kids her age do. I mean the seven sins were on the loose which made things harder. She is surrounded by the supernatural. Despite her mom telling her to stay out of it Jessie inserts herself into investigation. This leads to some very dangerous situations. Especially since Jessie is developing feelings for Lukas...and his time is limited.  I do love the dynamic between Lukas and Jessie. Lukas with his old fashion self and Jessie very upfront and different from what he is used to. They are so perfect for each other it hurts. Since their time is limited things heat up quick between them. I loved it!! They fell fast and hard for each other. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! This was yet another great start to a new series. I have liked all the books by this author and intend to keep reading them. I hope I don't have to wait to long for the next one in this series!

Darker Days is a sinfully good start to the new Darker Agency series by, Jus Accardo. If you're unfamiliar with Jus' writing, she manages to mix the wit, the sass, the otherworldly, and the romance all into one tastefully delicious book. Her Denazen series put her on my radar, and because of the love I carry for that series, I couldn't get my hands on Darker Days fast enough. Like with Touch, Darker Days is told through the female protagonist's point-of-view, and once again left me with equal amounts of crying because I laughed so hard, and blushing because I swooned so hard. This book is creative in its use of the seven deadly sins (which raised my eyebrows when I first read the synopsis), and even more creative by having the male protagonist be one of those sins. Let's face it, most books try to say their male characters' are sinful, however, Lukas Scott IS sinful. Darker Days starts off with Jessie Darker, the sassy and sarcastic main character, chasing down cheating husbands---and zombies. Yep. Jessie's in the funky business of helping her mom nab those cheating spouses, but also taking down the otherworldly beings that go bump in the night, and day. Right after her disastrous turn at taking out a zombie, Jessie meets Lukas, and everything about Darker Days gets a lot brighter---and hotter. Jessie and Lukas only have a handful of days to capture the six remaining sins, before they're all sent back to their box. In this time, Jessie and Lukas find out what it's like to rely on each other to get them through the rough times; and also what it's like to experience first love. The race against the clock had my heart beating in anticipation and anxiety. Jus Accardo has created yet another hit, and I cannot wait to read the sequel---and any books in the series after it. If you're looking for a quick read that will give you everything you wanted, and so much more, Darker Days is the book to read.

Darker Days is fast-paced fun, featuring Accardo's signature snarky, strong female characters!  I'm a fan of Accardo's Denazen Series, so I was excited to see a new series from Entangled Teen.  Darker Days introduces the Darker Agency - Mother-Daughter private investigators that specialize in the paranormal.  A perfect set-up for adventure and fun.  There's laugh-out-loud moments intertwined with death matches.   There are a lot of similarities between Accardo's two series.  Like Dez in the Denazen series, Jessie Darker is full of snark, bravado and one messed up family.  Like Kale, Lukas Scott is not your normal guy.  While Kale has been unable to touch anyone without killing them and has been locked away in a Denazen his entire life, Lukas is a man out of time, 147 years out otime and locked away the entire time.  In both series, it is the headstrong heroine that takes the lead, with her friends and boys following.   Truth is, I think I like Darker Days more than the Denazen series.  Jessie lacks the anger (at least so far) that Dez carries.  The premise is much more fun and sets the stage for high jinks and adventures - the field is wide open with where Accardo can take this series.  If you like paranormal romance, with tons of twists and turns, pick up Darker Days!

I have always loved YA Paranormal Romances, however, they tend to get a little repetitive at times, but Accardo has delivered an exciting, refreshing story that incorporates all the YA PNR elements that draw me to this genre, whilst introducing a fresh lot of characters. I liked Jessie's sassiness in the beginning. After a while though, I got a bit tired of her. Not that I didn't appreciate her spunk, she was fun and feisty, but she kind of became a bit predictable. She did show signs of development when she decided to rescue her family no matter the consequences. I wish there had been a little more clarity on why Jessie suddenly gained her father's powers, but I'm sure this is something that will be dealt with more as this series continues. What I really loved was the use of the Seven Deadly Sins. I have always had a fascination with them, so for them to, literally, be brought to life was awesome. I was totally enthralled by the story and I was excited to see how it would develop, and what twists and turns would be added to up the ante. I mean, they are the Sins after all! I loved Lukas. He was a right and proper gentleman, but he had a dark side, even if it wasn't really him. My heart broke for him every step of the way, he was in a lose, lose situation, but showed real strength when he refused to let someone else suffer in his place. I hated that he'd been used and I was cheering when a certain witch got payback for all the evil she'd spewed into the world. This story was an exciting adventure. Readers of YA PNRs will love every second of this book.

If you're looking for a fun, fast-paced book with lots of twist and turns, a few stolen moments with a hot, walking, talking sin, and a paranormal twist that felt incredibly fresh, then this is most certainly the book for you. I don’t know quite what I was expecting with this book but I found myself absolutely loving every aspect of it. I found Jessie to be such a fun character! She is spunky (a compliment, according to her), determined, stubborn (even when it gets her into trouble), and an all-around fun character. Even though these qualities of hers often got her in less-than-stellar situations, I just couldn’t help but admire Jessie for the strength and determination she showed. When things got tough, she did what had to be done to solve the problem. With an annoying demon dog following her around, the seven deadly sins running rampant in her town, a demon father, a protective mother, and an unconventional job, it safe to say she had her fair share of these “problems” but that never got her down. She just kept going. On top of all of this, she was also funny and oddly easy to relate to. I couldn’t exactly relate to the more paranormal aspects of her life, my dad is demon-blood free as far as I know, but some of the other stuff like dealing with over-protective parents, trying to prove that you can handle things on your own, getting your first kiss, and falling in love, it was all of those other things she encountered that made her journey, with as crazy and out-of-this-world as it seemed, just a little bit more believable. Throughout this story, I fell in love with Jus’s writing. The overall idea of the book was fascinating. I mean, its the seven deadly sins in the living flesh. How cool is that? But in addition to that there’s also this whole paranormal side of things. Like demons and zombies that are living among us…okay not living perse but you know what I mean and it’s Jessie and her mom’s job to take them out. This story had plenty of opportunities to get down-right confusing with all it’s twists and turns but Jus’s writing allowed me to get totally absorbed in the story with zero confusion. I felt like I was right there with Jessie and the whole gang trying to figure this whole thing out. On top of Jessie being awesome, the premise of the story being awesome, and the writing being well, you guessed it, awesome, I also fell in love with other aspects of the book. The other characters for one. Jessie mom was a good character. I liked the fact that even though she sends her daughter out to take down a zombie as a form of punishment, she also has all the other characteristics that make a good mom. She worries about Jessie, looks after her, and sort of drives her crazy with all the over-protection. Even though that sort of thing would have drove me crazy too, I like that she was there, caring, worrying about, and looking after Jessie. I also found myself loving, and I’m not putting that lightly, Wrath. One of the Seven Deadly Sins. Okay, he wasn’t Wrath exactly, him and Wrath just happened to share the same body. But when I say Lukas was as full of Swoon as he was of Wrath, I’ll hope you understand what I mean. The boy was awesome. First off, he should be a bad guy, I mean he does have Wrath inhabiting his body, but despite this he was a good guy through and through. Secondly, he had all the gentlemanly qualities you would expect of someone from the 1800′s because well, he is. And thirdly, he’s there for Jessie regardless of how annoying, nosy, pushy, or stubborn he thinks she’s being. Watching him and Jessie bond in the midst of all the craziness they were facing was one of my favorite parts. I found myself absolutely, 110% absorbed in this story. I loved the paranormal-ness, I loved the action scenes, I loved the swoony-ness, I loved the characters, basically I loved everything about it. Do yourself a favor and give this one a read and join me in grueling, forever-away wait until book #2 comes out!

Darker Days by Jus Accardo was such an amazing book! After reading the synopsis, I knew the story would be right up my alley, yet the tale and, in particular, the characters, were more intriguing and laugh-inducing than I had previously hoped. The Darker Agency and family will certainly give the reader a grand adventure. Also, isn't the title clever? Jessie Darker was, in my opinion, a great, and awesomely sarcastic, narrator. I know some would find her many snarky/silly comments annoying, but once in a while I need an entertaining character like her in a story. She is kind of quirky, although that could be blamed on her mom. For instance, Jessie's punishment for misbehaving is a "soggy zombie". So yeah, she is far from the average kid, yet she in never mopes or "wishes to be normal" like most heroines in paranormal books. That fact alone earned Darker Days serious bonus points in my book. I also loved the family dynamics in Darker Days. Guess what? They all get along like a normal family despite the many paranormal interferences! The parents love their daughter, and vice versa. And both parents are alive! My favorite character in the book, was, funnily enough, Jessie's mom. I really want to know her story as the bits we get are extremely interesting. The story was also creative. The way the Seven Sins worked, and the addition of other paranormal creatures, created a plot that was not cliche or predictable. Also, the length of the book was perfect. There were great action sequences and just enough time for a budding romance. Speaking of the romance... I LOVED it! The love interest was just right for Jessie, although I may have to admit I am a little jealous that she took him for herself. What do you mean she doesn't know I exist? She still should have let me have him! Anyway, the love interest, Lukas, is from like, a hundred years ago, which makes him adorable! I mean, he is formal and says funny things for the 21st century. Also, a lot of things are new to him, which is kind of cute to watch... (read? imagine?) Overall, Darker Days is an amazingly entertaining read. I would highly recommend this novel for book lovers looking for a light, yet dark, cutesy paranormal story. I can honestly say there was nothing in this book I disliked. If Darker Days had any faults, they were overlooked in favor of the overall awesomeness! Also, I am anxiously looking forward to the next book. 4/5 Stars

Sinfully Fun and In-Your-Face Action I read the first chapter and had to know more right away! What I thought was going to be a cute supernatural-filled read turned into a high-powered, tilt-a-whirl sundae with OH MY toppings. The Good It was even better than the first chapter had me so excited for. I met a girl that's strong and stubborn working for an investigation agency with her mom. One fabulous thing about this story that I don't see often is that her mom is a large part of her life. She tries to set Jessie on the bench during the hard cases to keep her safe, but Jessie's too stubborn for that. I love seeing this caring mother though. Jessie's father plays the role of absent parent, and his story, even how it's revealed in bits, is incredibly interesting. Lukas is by far my favorite character besides Jessie. He is the storm that rolls in and blows their town to smithereens. Handsome, charming, a bit naive, and great back-up, he brings the problem to their doorstep, but stays through thick and thin to get the mess cleared up. The story and the writing are absolutely spectacular! I didn't want to put this one down for a minute. The whole concept of the Seven Deadly Sins being personified and snatching bodies was unique and exhilarating, then Jessie and her mom having such a small deadline to be up against to save the innocents kept the pace action-packed. There are epic twists, turns, and reveals within the pages of Darker Days. The Bad None - yep that's right. I don't remember one negative thing with this book. Even the cover is pretty! The Romance The romance is very YA and cute to read. Jessie and Lukas make an adorable pair. Lukas is amazingly good, handsome, and old-fashioned. Jessie needs an old-fashioned guy. She's a little rough around the edges and he helps smooth them out. I like seeing the two of them together. There is an attempted rape to watch out for. Conclusion Wow! Talk about an ending! How could you do that to me Accardo? Smack me with the feels and make me get all invested and emotional? What a roller-coaster ride and cliff jump at the same time, but in a good way! This story should thrill any paranormal and urban fantasy fan. Jessie may be a YA character, but there is not a lot of the YA annoyances that may turn adult readers off. Darker Days has some great supernaturals, action galore, topsy-turvy twists, and a story-line that I must see continued in a second installment! Absolutely recommended.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it!!!  YA Paranormal Must Read **Received ebook from Entangled Publishing for an honest review Wow, let’s start with the cover because it rocks.  I love all the colors and how it is split down the middle like Jessie.  Jessie is there confident and thinking she knows everything like a true teenager. I hated that I couldn’t sit and read this straight through.  I would get home from work, check my email, and try to read… and fall asleep.  The first couple weeks back to school are rough after the summer off.   This is the first book that I’ve read by Jus Accardo, and I love her writing style.  She wrote Jessie’s character perfectly because teenagers tend to act just like that…snarky and think they know everything.  I also loved that Jessie looked up to her mom.  I loved everything about this book.  When I read the blurb, I knew I would like this book.  There is so much going on that you get pulled right into Jessie’s life.  There were times I was laughing out loud, I did shed some tears (but you have to read it to see where), and I wanted Jessie to win because she is so spunky and doesn’t give up.  I love her tenacity and perseverance.  I wish this was something that was easily teachable, but it is not.  For that reason alone, I definitely will be adding this book to my classroom library.  I want girls to realize they can accomplish anything if they try and don’t give up when it gets a little tough. I highly recommend this to all my YA paranormal book addicts because it is an action packed fun adventure.  I can’t wait to see where this series goes because I think it will get even better, and I will definitely be checking out Jus’ other books because I love her writing style.

For Jessie hunting down otherworlders or baddies that normal people fail to see, ghosts, zombies, pet possession and so on is just another day on the job at the Darker Agency. Along with balancing her life as a "normal" teen Jessie hides the secret that things really do go bump in the night and it is the job of her and her mother to stop it. When a mysterious drop dead gorgeous guy shows up at their door telling them that the ultimate baddie, the seven deadly sins, was about to wreak havoc on their little town; both Jessie and her mom are a little shocked and honestly don't quite buy his story. But with some convincing they realize that their little town is in a whole lot of danger and that they are the only ones who can do anything to stop it.  In Darker Days you follow the not so typical teen Jessie as she battles mundane demons, like ghosts, zombies and the occasional pet possession; leaving destruction in her wake. But Jessie is bored and wants more responsibility, but her mom won't give her any. Really all her mom wants is for her to live a normal life. A life away from demons, ghosts, zombies and the baddies that roam the earth, but Jessie is unlike any girl that walks the earth. Not only does she know that baddies or demons walk the earth, but she has deep personal experience with demons. The kind that leave a mark on the soul. She can't forget those deep dark secrets and when her world is turned upside down and she has no where to turn, it very well may be those deep secrets that save her. Jessie knows that her life will never be normal, no Darker child's live has ever been normal, but normal is overrated anyways. But she knows she won't win against her mother, but when Lukas Scott, The Darker Agencies new client walks in and tells them there is a new baddie in town; Jessie is even more desperate to prove to her mom that she is ready for more responsibility. Like most teens she doesn't quite know how to show that she's ready. Instead she rushes off head long into danger determined to catch the baddies herself. Thinking then my mom will see I'm ready, but all she get's is hurt or in trouble. Jessie knows that there is more to this case than meets the eye, knows that she can help. And when two people that she loves get putin the crossfire of one crossed and pissed off witch, she will make the only choice she can to save them.  Lukas, the hot new client is more than he seems, way more. He is danger, temptation, and gentleman all rolled into one gorgeous host. His story is one that bleeds sadness and revenge, one that tugs at the heart, but it is one that he has accepted, sadly. Until he met Jessie that is. Suddenly he wants so much more, he wants it all; the life he never had and the love he never got. As he races against time he finds his attachment to this place deepen, but even when his ultimate dream is thrown at him he refuses to put his curse on someone else. Lukas really is a gentleman and despite what he is has a soul that stands true and selfless. Darker Days, is an amazing story that is full of teenage angst, humor, love, awe and wonder. The story is deep and Jus Accardo did a wonderful job building a story that really can go anywhere. From the minute I picked it up I knew that this book was going to leave marks along my heart. I knew that it was going to imbed a piece of itself in my soul, forever marking me with its words. It really is that good. Jus Accardo gave me everything with this story. Action, paranormal, humor, love, suspense, great characters and emotion. So much emotion, I felt it as it scrolled across the page causing me to cry. It is a story that will leave you enraptured, one that you have to experience for yourself. I for one really have to get my hands on book 2, like yesterday!  *Received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Seven Sins. Six innocent people. Five days. Piece of cake... Jessie and her mom come from a long line of Darker's that take care of paranormal problems. Lukas Scott enters the agency with a big problem. The box full of the seven deadly sins has been opened and released him and six other sins. See wrath was connected to him permanently with a spell. The other six sins have stolen bodies that will die in five dies if they don't recuse them. The box will call them all back so time is of the essence. This was actually kind of confusing to wrap my mind around but Jessie asks lots of questions and eventually I understood the situation. I loved Lukas as a love interest. He is a hundred or so years older than Jessie but he has been locked away in the box so when he comes out he is really only 18. I often find it creepy when guys that have been around for hundreds of years like teenagers lol but he is a real teenager. Except he isn't exactly caught up on all the new slang and technology. He adapts well but says some very humorous things. Even though he is in this very unfair position attached to a sin, he is a good person and does the right thing. He wants to be free but doesn't want anyone else to take his place. Jessie is a snarky teenager that wants more jobs and responsibility in the Darker Agency. Her mom wants to protect her. Of course Jessie doesn't listen and goes after the sins. Her mom yells at her not too and then she goes after them again. This part kind of got annoying and repetitive. They only have five days and it sure didn't seem like her mom was making much progress so you would think she would just go ahead and work with Jessie. Jessie and Lukas work together and sparks start to fly but it was a good slow build. Jessie feels an instant attraction but their friendship takes some time. They made a good team and find many of the sins who were rather comical. There were a few twists but most of the I did find predictable but it didn't affect my enjoyment. I am actually even more excited for the next book because this one ends with Jessie in a rather interesting job situation. I also loved that it ends with no cliffhanger. The plot and mystery of this one is all wrapped up but still open for the Darker Agency to get plenty of new and exciting cases. Can't wait to see what is next. --- "It saddens me to bear witness to the decline of the English language." "My entire life, all I wanted was to find something different. Special. I never would have guessed I'd have to sleep for so long to find it." "I waited 147 years to find her."

Holy biscuits and gravy do I love the Entangled group! Jus Accardo’s DARKER DAYS is another Entangled book that I absolutely loved.  Jessie Darker is NOT your typical teen. She’s not even a ‘normal’ one, but I won’t get into that for fear of dropping too many spoilers. Nana nana boo boo! Jessie works for her mom at the Darker Agency, which is a PI office of sorts. But they also specialize in some of the ‘darker’ aspects, such as zombies, demonic possessions, and any other thing that goes bump in the night. The Darker gals are at the top of their game, but when someone finds, and opens, a box containing the Seven Deadly Sins, all best are off! If you are a fan of Miss Jus’ DENAZEN series, you will love DARKER DAYS. Jus has a fantastically twisted brain that I just love. She’s created a world that isn’t like anything I’ve read (so far) and was a pleasure to immerse myself in it. The town of Penance (total tongue in cheek moment) has all your everyday stuff: high school, the wrong side of town, the better side of town, deep rooted history, and all that jazz. Unseen by most, and what the Darker Agency keeps a tight lip on, is the ‘other.’ Penance also has witches, weres, necromancers, and a healthy dose of demonic activity. When the box of sins is opened, it all goes to hell in a hand basket. Our leading lady, Jessie, is a hoot and a half. She’s a self proclaimed “spunky” type of girl who definitely walks the walk. Jessie actually reminds me of Alex from HALFBLOOD or Rose from VAMPIRE ACADEMY. She’s tough, she’s got a serious mouth on her, and she’s simply wicked with quartz powder. Her mom trained her to take care of the ‘alternative’ cases the Darker Agency acquires, which happen to be Jessie’s favorite. But Jessie isn’t without faults. She tends to DO before she THINKS and it often gets her in above her head. Jessie also holds many people, especially boys, at arms length because the “L” word is something of which she wants nothing. And then she meets Lukas. Tall, dark, mysterious, and dare I say hot? Oh and he needs their help! Without giving too much info (no spoilers), I will say that Lukas has some serious intel on the box of sins and needs the Darker girls’ help to track it down.  Right off the bat, I liked Lukas. Despite Jessie’s ogling eyes, he was very adamant about hiring Jessie’s mom, not her. Ouch! Lukas is your down-home old-fashioned guy. He doesn’t always ‘get’ Jessie, but the two find some common ground and eventually hit it off. Speaking of old-fashioned, probably one of my favorite lines from DARKER DAYS was “‘I don’t spit anything, and I’m not sure what pissy beams are, but I’m fairly sure I don’t do them.’” Lots of laughing. Out loud.  To add to Lukas’ hotness factor, let’s just say he has some anger issues, and Jessie’s mojo is the only thing that seems to help him. SWOON! DARKER DAYS was full of action and just enough swoon-worthy moments so it didn’t feel like a Bourne movie. Jus keeps us guessing throughout the whole story. She never gives us the whole deal and continues to drop important details to the plot/story as the time is right so as to not be overloaded. And believe me, there was tons of detail. The visuals were awesome and though Penance is a totally fictional place (I think), I had this revolving image of East Village New York. But that might just be me.  When the time came to cross over to the Shadow Realm, I was not disappointed. Jus weaves this sort of Tim Burton-esque world full of simply wicked visuals of dripping walls and rotten teeth.  The pace of DARKER DAYS left me gasping for air. Just when I thought I’d reached a point where I could do something, like eat, Jus dropped a bomb that begged to have the next page read. And the next. And the next…  Overall, the only part of DARKER DAYS I wasn’t too keen on was the similarities with the DENAZEN characters. Granted, (small confession time) I’ve only reach TOUCH so far, but the main characters of both books had parallels. But I didn’t mind too much as I really enjoyed TOUCH. There were just enough differences to make them not repetitive in nature.  In any event, DARKER DAYS is a nice twist on the norm, and not so norm, we live in. The action is breathtaking and the humor is second to none. Jessie is the kind of character I want to root for, and Lukas the kind I want to crush on. Even Jessie’s mom plays an integral part to the story and she’s 100% in Jessie’s corner, despite her daughter’s tendencies to break ALL the rules.  Get DARKER DAYS. Read it. Love it. Douse the pissy beams, just do it!

What I Liked: Action, adventure, and romance with a paranormal twist, DARKER DAYS has a little something for everyone! The fast pace keeps the story moving and the twists keep it interesting. Jessie is a kick-butt, take no prisoners MC with a good heart who had me laughing out loud, and Lukas is a swoon-worthy love interest full of mystery. As with her DENZAEN series, Jus Accardo does a great job with world building and characterization, pulling the reader into the story and allowing them to experience everything her characters do. I think one of the most challenging things for a series writer is to find the right balance of closure and interest. You want your readers to be sated by the end of a book yet eager for the next one, and I think Jus has accomplished that with DARKER DAYS. What Left Me Wanting More: I liked Jessie and Lukas together but their relationship felt a little too fast for me. Final Verdict: Good start to a new series!

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this book. Honestly, I don’t remember requesting to read it for review, but it was provided to me so I did and I’m glad I did. This book is takes the entire bad boy, good girl theme and provides tons of twists and turns that will have you amazed that you actually were able to follow along. The Seven Deadly Sins are given a new life in this book. They are given substance that I never would have ever considered done and the author does it without seeming to blink an eye. The reader is tossed into the turmoil created by the sins and Wrath is given an even more structure to it. I’m not one for book boyfriends, but Lukas is definitely a hot commodity that is worth the effort and Jessie’s dad seemed quite a Dave Navarro look alike, yum! What I didn’t like is that there times when there is just too much going on. Trying to sketch out the scene in your mind was just too hard because of all the action going on while trying to figure out which sin was causing the commotion and how to get it to stop. That’s about all that I didn’t like. The characters themselves were strong. I could see Jessie in the match up with some of the other contemporary paranormal book females and kicking their ass’s one right after the other. I recommend this to ages 15+ due to some subject matter and violence. Anyone who likes a good paranormal thriller mixed with romance and chaos would welcome this into their reading lists and finish wanting more.

This is the first book in Accardo's new series titled the Darker Agency. It centers on Jesse, a somewhat normal girl living amidst a world full of paranormal hazards. Like the authors other series, the characters were perfectly rounded and real and I was able to easily connect with all of them. The plot was a delightful surprise with twists I never saw coming and an end that left me desperate for more.

One of my all time favourite TV shows is Supernatural so when I read the plot of DARKER DAYS and I figured Jessie Darker sounded like a kick-ass female version of Dean Winchester, I thought hey what’s cooler than that? Jessie and her mom Klaire run the Darker Agency in the small town of Penance, USA. Most of their cases are the run of the mill cheating spouses and insurance fraud but occasionally things take a turn down weird street and Jessie needs to line her pockets with powders, potions, and crystals to dispense with Zombies, Ghosts and all manner of ghoulish things. When handsome stranger Lukas walks into the Darker Offices claiming that the Seven Deadly Sins have been unleashed unto the world and there are only seven days to capture them before the innocent humans they are possessing are condemned, weird just doesn’t begin to describe Jessie’s day! Oh and btw…Lukas is one of the sins. I enjoyed DARKER DAYS! I adore Paranormal fiction and aching to fill the void until Origin by JLA was released, this was a solid addition to the genre. Mostly because of Jessie. I thought she was an awesome MC. Strong, confident with a healthy dose of snark, she and her mom make a great team. They know how to fend for themselves and how nice is it to read a book where the parents (Dad makes an appearance later on) are active members of their kids lives? No YA parental disappearing acts here! Lukas was an interesting character. Chained to the sin of wrath by a vengeful witch back in the 1800′s, he’s a fish out of water when it comes to modernity which led to some hilarious moments of interaction with Jessie. He was sweet and respectful with an edge and I liked his connection not just with Jessie but the secondary characters in particular Jessie’s mom. There is hints of insta-love which I’m a bit meh about. The book takes place over 7 days and by day 4 Jessie and Lukas are firmly entrenched in “I can’t live without you” territory! While I enjoyed their chemistry and the romance was quite sweet, that was my main issue with the book and I admit to eye-rolling at times. The non-romance plot strands were highly enjoyable however and I really liked the concept of the Sins embodying regular people and the utter chaos they caused. The book is chock full of action and chugs along at a nice pace. The connection with the past was another favourite aspect of mine and I liked the deeper threads of the plot and look forward to seeing how they develop later in the series. While there was plenty of humour, there was also a darker side to the book, Jessie may be quick with the quips but she goes through some harrowing experiences that made for some uncomfortable reading but overall I think the author handled it with sensitivity and it did add a deeper emotional level to the book rather than just slapstick humour. If you’re looking for a fun, paranormal read with a sassy heroine and plenty of hijinks then check out DARKER DAYS!

Darker Days is a great series starter, full of twist, romance and snaky comments. I’m not sure where to begin with this one, Darker Days had me laughing, swooning and crying since page one.  In a very true Jus Accardo Fashion, Darker Days starts right into the action. And I love it. The character’s voice is defined from the go as well, spunky, rebellious, sarcastic and strong. And, you guessed! I love it too! Plus Jessie has some really funny ways of expressing herself...  “Holy house of hogs getting blasted by the blue birdie brigade ...” - Darker Days, Jus Accardo   My first reaction to this was “This sounds like Veronika Mars meets the supernatural.” And if you haven’t watched Veronika Mars, I’m gonna ask nicely you go to see it before another kitten dies… Jessie Darker works with her mom as a private detective but the agency specializes in the supernatural. Zombies? Ghosts? Witches? They are your girls!  This new job they have? Is a bit tricky though... The 7 Deadly Sins were released in the city and now Jess and her mom Klair only have 5 days to find out who opened the box and get all the sins back in it before the box calls them back and with them the bodies of the 7 persons they took... Or you know, before the Sins find a way to free themselves forever...  This book is a great series starter. The fact that she made it about the 7 Deadly Sins wins Jus major cookie points. This is actually the first book I read about them. The romance is heavy and sweet. While it may seem like Lukas and Jessie’s feelings come too fast, and as much as Jessie probably will hate this: They belong together. It was Fate! Besides, Lukas is completely swoon *drool* worthy! “Dark, shaggy hair that might’ve been in desperate need of a trim—if it didn’t work so damn well for him. Piercing, liquid brown eyes that radiated trouble—and I loved trouble. He wore a leather jacket over a tight black T-shirt and worn jeans that were just a bit too baggy. Oh yeah. Bad-boy-vibe was off the charts.” - Darker Days by Jus Accardo   And I love me some Trouble and Bad Boys! Don’t let his bad boy looks fool you though, he’s one of the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. I loved him right away and right now, he’s pretty high on the book boyfriend list. The secondary characters are great additions as well, her mom and dad provided as much fun and “aww” moments as Jessie and Lukas.  Her best friend is a witch and a big promise, I can’t wait to see more Kendra and all she can do.  The bad guys are so good at what they do, they deserved cookie points too.  But let’s talk about what’s really important here... the Plot. The Plot is awesome! It has so many twists and things you don’t see coming that will keep you on edge all the time. There were a million ways this book could have gone wrong (as in a not so happy ending, I don’t believe Jus can write a bad book). I was afraid I was going to end rocking myself in a corner somewhere waiting for book two.  Jus can definitively keep the suspense and set a perfect pace to the story so that you’re surprised and never bored without giving you all at once or making it predictable. And manages to balance it in a way so it’s not all about the world’s fate rest upon my shoulders and allows you to catch your breath between one snarky remark and the other.  I really can’t wait to see what else is in store for Jessie now and what other troubles she can find in her way. The Darker Agency is sure to be another great series by Jus Accardo and you should get your copy as soon as this is out in stores!
