Don't know if you can read German, but if you can get a copy of this book in a language you're very familar to, I highly recommend you pick up a copy. I first read this book years ago and it is still my absolute favorite. Too bad it's so hard to find a copy anymore. =/ This book is about Erik's life from start to finish. The main event that takes place in the Andrew Lloyd Webber and all those movies are only a small part of it but the book builds up to that point. Find the original Leroux book to be too slow? Seriously try this one.

This book is outstanding. I've read in German and English. I own 4 different copies of this book. I read it at least every 4 months. I love the story about The Phantom of the Opera and this is a beautiful story about the live of Erik. You always hope that the story changes in the end and he gets Christine.

I love this trashy romance novel. I have never been able to fetch a man, really, for my self so I am forced to read about poor Erik. And all of those other strapping boys , like Gaston (beauty and the beast).. oh, they give me great joy. Just dreaming about them while I'm asleep with my "husband". And so he gets jealous, which is why we have never married (also, I still have two bute-ee-full girls to send to college. I need to finish paying first)... because I'm always lusting over the manufactured man of romance novels! Of course, it was my "husband" who taught me to read. So I guess in a way it's his fault that I'm reading this.. this.. this!
