I'd been waiting (im) patiently for another contemporary novel from Ms. MacDonald so I jumped at the chance to review this one. I cared about Harrison and Doris and felt each and every misstep along the way; I beamed when they got it right. It was worth the wait!

4.5 Stars. Loved it. She is so good at writing characters that are older with life experience. The dialogue is great. Love the arguments--Doris is so funny! Could be read as a standalone or even a prequel to the series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. First, I need to state that I LOVE this series. All the books are standalones but I haven’t missed one. They are hilarious and deal with ‘signs of the times’ no matter what era we are talking about, and I love reading about the different couples. In this one, Harrison and Doris have their back story. They were characters in two of the other books in the series but this time, we learn all about how they found their HEA. I will admit that sometimes I was surprised by Doris’s actions but (unfortunately for me), I feel for her and understand where her attitude came from. I just wanna hug Harrison, although there were times I wanted to smack him upside the head because of how he has acted in his life. Doris’s sister and niece were hilarious; Harrison’s dad was endearing in his own way. I truly enjoyed this back story about these two and reading about the beginnings of their relationship. Very strong individuals, especially for the time. I love this book just as much as I loved all the rest of the series.
