Everyone knows that all’s fair in love and war. But these two will learn that sabotage is a dish best served naked.

A sexy, compulsively readable romantic comedy that dives headlong into the thrill and doubt of modern love, Dating You/Hating You by New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren is the story of what two high-powered agents will—and won’t—do to get everything they ever wanted.

Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they’re both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn’t enough to squash the fire.

But when their two agencies merge—causing the pair to vie for the same position—all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thirtysomething professionals—so why can’t they act like it?

Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending, or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you get to enjoy Christina Lauren’s heartfelt, hilarious story of romance in the modern world.

The story just didn’t keep my attention and I never really became invested in the characters. There’s a whole lot of lead up to a whole lot of nothing.

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 4 Narration 4 Story 4 Meet the perfect person for you at a Halloween party, and know that your friends have done their best to bring you together – what could be better? Carter and Evie don’t have a meet cute – they have a meet awkwardly, with plenty of reasons for them not to hit it off, but they do. Agents at high-powered Hollywood firms, the two are go-getters and incredibly focused, and their competitive natures alone could mean the attraction just falls off. But it doesn’t - and they are perfect for each other. And who can deny the chemistry between them when it just falls in their laps? They can’t – and while a relationship isn’t anything either would plan with the sheer amount of hours they spend working, they are both willing to adjust and reconfigure their time to spend it together. And together they are marvelous: funny, clever, you can feel that connection. Then – work interferes and their agencies come under one umbrella – and to make matters worse, this couple who are both spectacular at their jobs are now competing for the one open position in the newly organized company. And, there are strict policies against inter-company dating. We had just got to find this couple as perfect together, and then this – it’s heartbreaking and sad – and they both realize what could be lost. Even as the attraction still burns – and they truly do (deep down) wish the best for each other in their careers – even though neither wants to lose their job. Back and forth, with misunderstandings, plenty of –isms rearing their ugly head, and the constant tension of attraction makes their relationship sing. While not really an enemies to lovers story – they start out as potential lovers and move to stressed, denying all attraction (or trying to), the progression of both characters and relationship is a joy to behold. So fun, with Evie’s very natural and clear approach to grabbing the gusto every day (3 doughnuts anyone) and Carters recognition and disgust with the isns he sees so cavalierly played against her – their chance to grab that one night and get each other into perspective opens the door to so much more – if only they are able to split their focus between work obligations and choices for personal lives. Naration for this story is provided by Shayna Thibodeaux and Deacon Lee, who bring the voices of Evie and Carter to life, mixing up appropriate and distinct voices for friends, co-workers and the despicable boss. Each character sounds like they could be in the room, their quiet moments as well as the smiling (and not so) snarky comments are all clearly presented and easy for the listener to grasp the ‘between the lines’ meanings and emotions. Conflicted emotions are difficult to sell vocally – you know it when you hear it, and when it’s done well as these narrators do it, it just adds layers and dimension to the listen. You can hear the hesitation, confusion, smiles and ‘what ifs’ in each moment when required, and the fast paced plot, rapid fire dialogue and uniquely twisted trope engage and entertain in equal measure. I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Simon and Schuster Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

4.5 stars - Another wonderful book from Christina Lauren. As I have had such good luck with this author, I was hesitant to read this book - you know, too good to be true issues. I enjoyed the bantering back and forth with Carter and Evie, even more since they didn't get vindictive when their boss seemed to put them against each other. The practical jokes they played on each other were cute - the car glitter bomb would have been amazing to see! A delightful holiday weekend read!

Evie and Carter are young professionals, who happened to work in the same business, different agencies. They meet, they fool around and then their companies merge. Can this budding relationship sustain this? First time reading these authors, but really enjoyed this book. The character development was layered and not to complex. This book grabbed me and I was enjoying it so much, I was disappointed that there was not more.

I loved this story. Pretty sure that I am in love with this author. I got to meet her, or one half of the writing duo at Apollycon back in March. The characters were so good, and totally kept me laughing the whole time. Carter is totally a new book boyfriend for me, probably partly because he watches Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Then, there is rule they come up with at the beginning when they first meet about how singletons should be allowed to leave parties early, when they're not with dates, and I say YES! Okay, the characters in the book explain it much better than I just did. But it was good! Great story. I know it is a standalone, but there were a few characters I would totally love a spinoff about!

I had a hard time getting into this one. The leads weren't engaging or likeable and the plot was a bit outlandish.

Such a great love story. Right after they meet and fall for each other, Carter and Evie's companies merge and they become rivals for the same position. They want to trust each other, but aren't sure whether they can. The boss is abusive, mostly to Evie, who has been a long time employee. Carter and Evie alternate between attraction and mistrust, and in the middle of the book, start playing some creative pranks. There is a huge twist at the end, but ultimately love wins!

I'm a big fan of the writing team Christina Lauren and have enjoyed many of their books but this one, isn't one of my favorites. While I liked this story, I didn't love it. The story has more office politics than romance and I found myself losing interest. I liked the characters and the premise of the story but I wanted the two main characters to spend more time together. Evie is a successful, single woman working as a talent agent in Hollywood. She meets Carter, another talent agent from a competing agency, at a party. They immediately hit it off but working in the same industry causes some problems between them. They have to figure out how to date and have a career. It isn't always easy as they find themselves competing against one another and they start to feel insecure and mistrustful of each other. The story starts out when they meet and start to date and follows them through all the pitfalls of dating. They are both ready to settle down but have never met that certain person they connected with. When they meet each other, there is a instant connection, however their careers may keep them apart. I liked Carter and Evie. They are both smart and funny and genuinely nice people and there are also some interesting secondary characters that add another dimension to the story. I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.

I was really looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint! This was the first that I read by this author. It was funny and steamy at the same time with a feel good ending. My favorite! **I received this book for free from Netgalley as a WISH**

I truly enjoyed this romance. Not only was it funny, charming and steamy, but Evie and Carter are believable grownups. They are people I'd want to hang out with. Even when the plot twists and turns, it doesn't get too convoluted. Defintely a good summer read!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were new, fresh and fun. It was a little slow at times, but then picked back up. I was expecting a book closer to BB but was pleasently surpised how much I enjoyed it.

The spectacular writing dual of Christina Lauren have done it again with this unique and fun romantic comedy! Laugh-out-loud funny with interesting characters that had fantastic, witty banter as well as playful animosity. Add in some sweet and sexy, some drama, and a whole lot of tension and you've got just the right mix to pull off a fantastic romantic comedy. Let's not forget a well rounded cast of characters too. This was a truly awesome read! I loved the ease of Carter and Evie's relationship in the beginning, it was crazy watching everything develop as changes occurred in both their lives. I loved their chemistry! There are so many obstacles thrown at them, it made for a lot of drama as well. I found it all extremely entertaining. I loved when things changed and became slightly more chaotic for them as they navigate their relationship, it turns into a funny, love-hate thing. Carter and Evie were both so genuine, sweet, and nerdy (in an adorable way). They had great personalities and were really likeable characters. I liked their back stories and history as well. There were just so many fun moments in this. I loved the fun pop culture references, the hijinks and shenanigans. The writing was great writing with spot on descriptions and there was a decent pace. I loved that this was dual POV so I really got a sense of who both Carter and Evie were. There are some ups and downs but overall it was funny and oh so sweet. All in all this was a really great read! Super entertaining with a great cast of characters. :-) Complimentary copy received for honest review.
