As part of the Gaither Vocal Band, David Phelps is used to exercising his vocal chops. With his debut solo release, Phelps offers a disc that's rich in musical texture while singing up a virtual storm. The disc's opening grabber, "I Cry, You Care," is a testament to the steadfast love Christ bestows upon his people. Phelps sings in the upper registers on the cut as a moving bassline and drumbeat culminate to a fast fury. Much like Dallas Holms' "Rise Again" or Larry Normans' "I Wish We'd All Been Ready," the song "The End of the Beginning" has the mark of a career signature for Phelps. The tune is one that musters up feelings of inspired awe. In storybook fashion, the lyrics weave a tale of a chance meeting with a stranger on a plane. When Phelps reaches the tune's chorus his vocals are so charged that they are awe-inspiring. A nice detour from the adult contemporary fare is the all-out rocker "Let the Glory Come Down." Mixed amongst a flurry of guitar, horn, and organ chops, Phelps takes the reins like he's singing for Petra in their heyday. The background vocals on the tune are definitely the dot on the exclamation point. Finishing out the release is the poignant offering "Fly Again." Like many slower cuts on this disc, Phelps excels in the subtle nuances of the piano and acoustic guitar. These instruments give vocalists spaces to fill, and Phelps fills all the voids like a seasoned pro. David Phelps' debut disc is a testimony of powerful vocals set to an inspirational backdrop of powerful music. Witness a man thankful for God's grace.

This is one of the most inspiring cds i have heard this year. Miles and miles way is just my favourite, i mean God's love can cross the distance no matter where we are. Thanks for the encouragement. Hope you all enjoy it.
This, by far is the best CD that David has ever made. I am taking "The End of the Beginning" to Fine arts competition this year, and if I make it to National Fine Arts, I would have gone twice with a David Phelps song. His material ROCKS!
David's talent is an absolute inspiration to anyone who listens. He has the most well trained voice of anyone in recent history. No More Night is the pinnacle of this album. His voice is well represented and he shines. I can listen to it over and over. He supercedes the Southern Gospel genre and will no doubt create a unique name across all music listening styles.
David Phelps has a range and power in his voice matched only by his control. Hearing him sing solo or with the Gaithers, I am consistently blown away. I love "The End of the Beginning", along with just about anything else he sings. I keep wondering just how far he can stretch his vocal range. Everyone here loves him and his gift, his faith, and his heart. Praise God for a young man who has followed his calling.
this cd is great - but by far the best thing about it is the song ''the end of the beginning.'' if for no other reason, but this cd for that song - it is one of the best songs i've ever heard!!
WOW! What an awesome album! David wrote many of the songs that he beautifully performs. You can feel his heart and soul in every note. A man of God who is using the talent He so abundantly gave him. Buy it and prepare your heart for a blessing. Amber
"The End of the Beginning" is the first song in a long time that has impacted me the way this has. Good Gospel message. David Phelps is an excellent singer.
David Phelps' voice truly is angelic. When he opens his mouth to sing, the talent God has blessed him with will touch your heart and soul. I highly recomend this CD as well as David's Christmas CD, "Joy, Joy".
This cd is outstanding. Wonderful contemporary Christian music by one of the best voices in Christian music today. I have enjoyed this cd so much and everyone I've played it for has insisted on going out and buying one for themselves. An outstanding achievement for a first solo album!!!
If you have heard David Phelps' album, you will want to hear him in concert. If you have heard him in concert, you will buy his album. David has a phenomenal voice, a wonderful talent given by God. His praise to God is awe-inspiring and uplifting.
David Phelps has a voice like no other. I enjoy all of the songs. My 8 yr old loves My Child is Coming Home. No More Night and Wind and the Waves remain at the top of my list right now. For each mood, there is a song to bring you out. If you buy no other cd this year, buy this one. It is phenomenal.
David Phelps had the vision for the thirty something generation. We are bombarded by the sacred and unsacred. He is the holy combination of both. His voice defies the barriers that we are given. When you hear him sing about God we are tantalized but reminded of our mission and journey. It's as if Jesus sent a vocalist to temp and inspire us simultaneously.
