Davy, who relates his own story, is a character of warmth and humor¿delightful, spicy, racy and robust. Born in a brothel and raised in an orphanage, he travels in many directions, but always away from ignorance. His adventures are varied and range from tragic to bawdy to comical. They are all highly unusual. Pangborn, although setting his gaze on the future, sees it through the gauze of today. He is talking to us and about us. ¿The book is a frightening, ribald, poignant look at ourselves.¿
