Easy reading. Can’t say it was a page turning edge of your seat mystery, but it kept me mildly interested. That’s why I would rate about 3.5 stars.

3 stars to Leighann Dobbs's Dead & Buried, the second in the Blackmoore Sisters Mystery series. Another short and quick read with bits of humor, romance, "magic" and fun! This was the third short mystery I've read by the author and am noticing the trend... as she publishes multiple stories each year, her books tend to be shorter than a full length novel. They also tend to have less complex plots with very few suspects. It's almost as if you're setup from the beginning to know who the killer is but your goal is to figure out why. Story A dead man shows up on the Blackmoore sisters property. The sheriff who has it out for the sisters picks one of them to arrest based off a potential clue. The sisters band together to determine if it's truly a case of pirates seeking ancient treasure buried on their property. With the help of some new and old friends, they solve the puzzle and find some of the treasure once again obtaining a way to pay the taxes on the land they inherited from their deceased parents. Strengths The sisters are a quirky bunch that will make you smile. The cast of supporting characters provides humor and a fun backdrop to the story. The mystery behind the Blackmoore family gets more puzzling with each book in the series. Weaknesses The plot is very simple. The murderer isn't really ever called out behind the "team" they worked for. It's not like a traditional cozy where you have varied suspects who live in or around the town and interact with the village folk. If you're looking to cut your teeth on a bone of a mystery, this isn't ideal for you. Final Thoughts Given the length and frequency of the novels, they deliver a charming environment you'd love to be part of, but with the mystery lacking any real value or complexity, I'm not sure I'd count these as traditional cozy material.

I love the way Leighann Dobbs writes her stories and characters. You feel as if you know the characters personally. I grinned, cringed and laughed throughout this story. And Belladonna the cat is just to cute! If you are looking for good mysteries to curl up on the sofa with, the Blackmoore Sisters Romantic Mystery series are the "go to". Off to read book 3!

Sheriff Overton is always too eager to pin local murders on the Blackmore sisters. The recent murder victim was found on the side of a cliff near to their house. Her cat Belladonna leads her to hidden locations of clues and treasures. Morgan is a herblist and her sister Fiona designs and makes unusal jewlery. A former boyfriend of Morgan's reappears after being gone for a long time and helps to make sure that they are not convicted of this crime. I enjoyed the mystery and murder in this book and I'm looking forward to reading more of the experiences of the Blackmore sisters.

'Fraid you'll get the same review for each book of this series - but what can I say - I would not have read more than one if I hadn't I liked them - The books were well written, the mysteries were good, humor, suspense what more can you ask for except a bit of romance thrown in :)

Want a really sweet (no sex) cozy mystery?  This is the series for you.  This is a fun romp with pirates and magic and long lost love rekindled.  I fully admit I am determined to find out why the Sheriff has it out for the Blackmoore girls and am truly loving the other mysteries along the way.

i really like these stories and this installment was no different. This time older sis Morgan is involved, although, another sister is arrested.each sister has special powers and I find the crysals/herbs and what they are used for very interesting,as the gems too.We have pirates this time and no Capt. Jack Sparrow among them with the help of "friends"(old and new)and a pet named Belladonna the race to find an answer is on. cannot wait for the third one.

A great cozy read. The characters have an original slant and the romance does not take away from the mystery. Yes there are pirates in this day and age.
