A mystery about a mystery writer trying to write a mystery. Excellent! Emily has moved to a small town to try and write a mystery, one that will actually be published this time. Only she finds herself in the middle of one. Women are being killed and the only thing connecting them is that they belong to a group who respect and worship, in their own way, the Earth. I loved the characters in the book. Emily can make friends with the oddest of characters. There's the reclusive ornery neighbor, Harry, who helps Emily around her place and brings her the occasional possum stew. Harry is my favorite I think. I know the next books will be just as excellent. I need to see how Emily gets on with her ex-husband who has decided that her little slice of heaven could be just what he needs to work on his book about Chaucer...and moves close by. The mystery is well done, the characters are fully fleshed out and I want to move to this area of Michigan. All my criteria met. Five all my criteria met beans....

DEAD DANCING WOMEN (EMILY KINCAID MYSTERIES, BK 1) by ELIZABETH KANE BUZZELLI Emily Kincaid moved to Northern Michigan several years ago. She needs to put an ugly divorce and her father's death behind her. Working as a part-time journalist and a not so well known mystery writer keeps her fairly busy. When a woman's severed head appears in her trash can, and later an arm and hand appear on her front porch she wonders who has it out for her. Is this a warning of some kind? And who would want to do anything like this to her? When the deceased woman is identified as one of the Women of the Moon, Emily and Deputy Dolly decide to help each other solve the mystery. But when more of the Women of the Moon turn of dead, one has to wonder ... what do the remaining members know that no one else does? Being a cozy mystery, I wasn't expecting it to be as suspenseful as it was. The characters of this small town are at times, funny, quirky, secretive, and just odd. But they all kind of grow on you. This was a fast, entertaining read. I have no problem recommending this one to anyone who likes cozies. Many thanks to the author / Beyond The Page Publishing / NetGalley who provided a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I ordered this book for my NOOK, and unfortunately I have not been able to read it yet because the copy I got is completely screwed up. I have repeatedly emailed NOOK support, but the only "support" I have gotten from them is things I have already tried, such as archiving and unarchiving, with no resolution in my problem whatsoever. Of course, despite the fact that it is not my software or device, I have been repeatedly told I was the one that screwed up. I did have one favorable response from customer service stating that the person had contacted the people responsible for the formatting of the book and the problem would be fixed in one to two weeks - that was more than a month ago, so I am assuming that was just a lie to shut me up. Of course, being a NOOK book, I cannot get a refund. I have read other books in this series and loved them, so I am assuming this one will be good too. If you want to read this book I highly recommend you buy the actual book and not the NOOK version unless you just want to waste $8.99.
