I received this book free from the publisher through NetGalley. I thank them for their generousity. In exchange, I was simply asked to write an honest review, and post it. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising] "An unsolved mystery is always intriguing, and I had never known anyone who was murdered. And maybe, I am a little nosey." Leah Norwood owns Scents and Sensibility, a small lotion and fragrance shop in downtown Reed Hill, Texas, just north of Dallas. She and her best friends opened the shop together, but she is the "face" of the store, the one who primarily dealt with customers and the merchants in the area, while they developed and packaged the products behind the scenes. Leah got along with most of the merchants. However, the next door antique store manager and she often butted heads. But when Isabel is found "dead in a dumpster", Leah gets involved in the investigation whether she really wants to be or not! B.L. Blair has written a smart, fast paced and likeable character in Leah Norwood. Leah knows how to schmooze, but also is respective and respected by peers, collegues and law enforcement alike. She starts out looking rather naieve in her investigating, but her mad skills allow for a satisfying conclusion to what we can only hope will develop into a long running series. I recommend this book and look forward to others.

Dead in a Dumpster is an excellent start to a new series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I love her writing style. Ms. Blair has written a well-crafted whodunit that quickly became a page-turner and kept me captivated me from beginning to end. This is a well-plotted murder mystery with a great cast of realistic characters. The main character, Leah Norwood, is likeable and relatable. The story is filled with suspense and enough twists and turns to keep the reader involved. I highly recommend this fast-paced book for all readers who enjoy a good murder mystery. I’m looking forward to reading Dead in a Park, the second installment in the Leah Norwood Mystery series. Leah Norwood is the owner of a small fragrance store, Scents and Sensibility, in downtown Reed Hill, Texas. Leah’s best friend, Olivia, creates the fragrances and Gage, handles product manufacturing and distribution. While taking out the trash at the end of the day, Leah finds the body of Isabel Meeks in the dumpster behind her store. Isabel is the manager of Patina, an antique store, located next door. Isabel isn’t very well liked, so there is no shortage of suspects. Leah recently exchanged words with Isabel and made a threatening remark that she never intended to follow through with. Now the police suspect her of committing the murder. In order to satisfy her curiosity about strange events and clear her name, Leah begins her own investigation. Chief of Police, Alexander Griggs, isn’t happy having a private citizen messing with his case. After her shop is ransacked, Leah opens up a package only to find it filled with drugs, and it becomes evident that something sinister, in addition to the murder, is going on. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Leah Norwood is the owner of "Scents and Sensibility", a small fragrance store in downtown Reed Hill, Texas. When she finds a dead body in the Dumpster outside her shop, she quickly becomes the main suspect. Leah has always fancied herself to be a bit of a detective, so she sets out to track down the real killer and clear her name. She puts herself in harm's way in her pursuit of the killer and gets a bit too close to the investigation - and the dashing Chief Griggs. Then another dead body shows up. Are the murders related to drug trafficking, an illicit affair, or something else? Can the killer possibly be one of the members of their own small community? This story gets off to a great start. Leah Norwood is a likable heroine, feisty and full of humor. We are introduced to a long list of characters, but every good mystery needs a lot of suspects. There are a number of editing errors and the dialogue is a bit stilted. Nevertheless, this is a well-crafted story, and the plot is not predictable, even though I did guess the identity of the killer early on. An enjoyable, fast-paced read. I look forward to Leah Norwood's further adventures. I received this book in return for an honest review.

This was a good, light read. The mystery is neither too easy nor too difficult to solve. Good start to the series.
