...detectives Rebecca Angell and Jake Sullivan are called to the scene, and clues soon lead them to a crime novel which the killer has used as gruesome inspiration.

The author, Amy Gallaty, has a new book out, at first prompting Angell and Sullivan to question how far she is prepared to go in the name of promotion. But when Amy attracts the attentions of a stalker and then a second murder mirrors another of her plots, they realize they are up against a cruel and clever psychopath; one who may have a more personal agenda.

Working with the FBI, Angell and Sullivan find themselves in a race against the clock to unlock the secrets in Amy's past before the killer can strike again.

Having read the works of Ms. Beevis before, I went into this excursion paying very close attention to every event, every character, everything. I was not going to be fooled this time! Yes, Ms Beevis, she is the master of the twists and the turns and the surprises, but this time, this time I would be ready! As the book moved along at break neck speed, I hung on every clue, certain by the final hundred pages that I had it figured out, realizing that I had put more effort into in than was normal and that I definitely had more clues than the police in the book, but still feeling superior that I had a firm grip on the killer. And then the book hit a higher gear and really took off, I was spun around, and before I knew it, that firm grip I had on the killer was nothing but a tangle between my elbow and my ankle. As we sped closer and closer to a close, I realized I was clueless! Fantastically written, a truly enjoyable ride. And although I could not figure it out in advance, have no doubt, everything made 100% sense by the finale. Highly recommended, money well spent! I do so hope to see these characters again in future books!
