Ronan and crew are hired by none other than Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson to keep the law in Dodge City on the Fourth of July. Angry Rebels and drunken mobs aren't the worst of the deputies' problems, however: the Butcher has come to town!

This is the second Dime Novel in the legendary Deadlands series, following the adventures of Ronan Lynch, Bad Luck Betty, and Velvet Van Helter. It contains the fiction only of the original and all new art. These new editions of the Dime Novels do not contain adventure material for the Deadlands Roleplaying Game.

Yet again we meet the cursed mercenary hero Ronan Lynch from "Perditions Daughter". This short tale covers his adventures in the disputed Kansas Territory where he tries to prevent chaos, solve a murder and come to terms with his new "condition" as a harrowed man in the weird west. This time accompanied by the Texas Ranger "One Eye" Ketchum who is charged to fight monsters for the Confederacy and keep the peace. If you read the first "dime novel" then this second is a return to high horror and adventure in an alternate west where monsters exist and heroes can have more than a six shooter and grit to get them through the night.
