About the Author

Elke was born and raised on the largest of the three beautiful Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman. She lives there with her husband and two wonderful kids, one of each, who keep her on her toes. She's a fiercely loyal friend who loves to meet people and has a sarcastic/quirky sense of humor not everyone gets. She stumbled into writing romantic suspense because of her fascination with serial killers, but also writes other genres because characters keep telling her their stories and she's a sucker for a crazy story. When not writing, she's helping other writers in the Cayman Islands through her company CayWriters. Visit her website to find out more about her and her upcoming Deadly Series set in Cayman.

Deadly Race by Elke Fueur Elke Fueur does it again with “Deadly Race”! I was pleased to read this book, as I thoroughly enjoyed her book, “Deadly Bloodlines”. Once again, she introduces us to an amazingly strong female character, named Remy Borden. She is both a school teacher and a race-car driver. She lives in Cayman, and the accents and her descriptions of her island are breathtaking. The story begins with a race that takes Remy to the ER for injuries to her ribs, after a crash that resulted in her car flipping over twice. Everything in her life goes downhill from there. Dirk (runs the races) took her out of the race that she most wanted to enter called “The Cayman Regional Race”, claiming that he could not have her drive injured. She backfired by yelling at Dirk and stating that he will regret this choice all the way to his grave. After she said this in front of a crowd, I knew that Dirk was going to die, and she would be the lead suspect. But, in normal Fueur fashion, there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than just Dirk’s death…and it creates this marvelous story about the Borden family, Dirk and his business, and the races. She also has a love story integrated, which I was cheering on. I don’t want to give away the name of that person. Cannot ruin everything! You will not be disappointed! Again, she touches on a lot of subjects, making this book appeal too many. I read this sitting outside one afternoon; it is a quick and enjoyable read.

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Remy is not your typical race car driver, she's a strong woman who has decided to take on a man's world. However after an accident Remy hasdoctor jackson to look over her. The story quickly falls into true romance / forgotten love story. However in the end everything works out the author did a great job combining the racing world with a real life. There were a few spots of repetition as well as hearing I love you after one date somewhat irks me. Great storyline I think she did a great job keeping the story flowing will read more by this author.

Deadly Race started with a woman race car driver, which I love, (Danica Patrick is from my home town) and continued to keep my attention with murder, mayhem, love, and a stalker.   I was able to put some of the clues together and some of the clues led me the wrong direction, keeping me guessing.   I was very wrong about who the stalker was and that was a good thing.  I guessed who was causing all the problems at the race track and had a good idea who the killer was.    When a book keeps me on my toes and lets me put the clues together to solve the mysteries, it quickly moves to the top of my favorite reads list.   I love that Elke’s books take place in the Cayman Islands.    The speech is fun and different from what I am use to and is so real that I can actually hear the accents (I hear Jamaican sounding voices).   I do wish there was more descriptions of the surroundings, just for my own enjoyment, but do not feel there is anything to really be gained by adding these extra details.    I was able to picture Remy’s small and comfortable apartment, the hospital where Jackson worked, and Remy’s parent’s house.   The police station was probably my favorite place; only because there were always an interesting person in the background, whether a drunk or someone yelling crazy stories.     This is my second Elke Feuer’s story and I cannot wait for more from her.    I definitely recommend Deadly Race to anyone looking for an adventure to read.
