I finished the first book in this series with a middle of the road feeling. I liked the suspense, but wasn't impressed with the romance. I did enjoy the romance here even though Bea was thoroughly infuriating in the beginning. Her reasons for pushing Knox away were valid, but her attempts only put both of them in more danger, rather than accomplishing her goal. This one hits the ground running with the continuing story from the first book. There's no gentle easing in and while there are some tidbits of info about what's going on, reading in order is a must. We do get some interesting twists - one big one that is pretty obvious if you're paying attention. The biggest drawback for me lay in the actions of Bea and Knox. Bea is a lawyer, which would suggest some level of maturity, but her actions and the number of warning bells she overlooks would suggest otherwise, and Knox isn't much better. It would be different if the reader is aware of something that the character knows nothing about, but when Bea clearly knows she's in danger and blatantly ignores warnings, that's just frustrating and a bit unbelievable. That aside, the building tension of the suspenseful nature is good, especially where The Gentleman is concerned. That part of the story did continue to hold my interest, so I will be checking out the next in the series to see where it all goes and how so many things tie in together.

Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas is Son's of Broad #2. The craziness that has befallen the Benedict family continues in book two, following Knox Benedict. While Knox is the more upstanding of the Benedict brothers, certain secrets were hinted at in book one. Right off the bat we learn that Knox is married to Bea, which isn't all that surprising given their behavior in Darkest Night but the layers of secrets continue. The threats to Bea have caused her to push Knox away but he doesn't know why and won't let things get between them. As Bea and Know work through the secrets surrounding them, and do a really poor job of keeping apart, various other mysteries surface and the Benedict brothers are forced to reveal information that they have kept hidden. Overall I liked Bea and Knox, but was curious as to why they made the choices they did as it didn't always seem to match with their characters. The fight that they have for each other and their passion makes up for it. This was a good addition to the series as a whole and I loved learning about Knox and Bea's story. I enjoyed Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas and can't wait for Kipling's story coming up next. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

Suspensefully wicked! With the next book in her Sons of Broad series, Tara Thomas continues to weave a web of danger and secrets as she brings us Knox and Bea's story. With each book we grow closer to learning who the evil Gentleman is, but he still has cards yet to play and isn't going to reveal himself just yet. You'll already be familiar with most of the key players in the storyline if you've been following along with the series, but with each book we learn more info about the family history and secrets. I found myself second guessing one of the siblings in this book, so I'm anxious to move forward and find out who the bad guy really is! Very entertaining! Knox Benedict might have gotten married in a hurry and on the sly, but he loves his wife and will do anything to win her back. When they figure out that the danger that still lurks around her is all because of the investigation she was doing into his family's business from years ago, he steps in and tries to keep her safe. He asked her to delve into their personal affairs, so why is someone now after her for doing as he asked? Attorney Bea Jacobs doesn't want to be apart from Knox, but danger is surrounding him as long as she's anywhere near, so she has her heart set on staying away and keeping him safe. As more questions are answered, suspicion continues to fly about who has it out for this family.

Deadly Secret is the second book in the Sons of Broad series and I have to say that I enjoyed this book more than the first book, Darkest Night. This book has the continuation of the overarching plot involving The Gentleman who is out to ruin the Benedict brothers although his reasons for wanting to ruin them is still quite unknown. In Darkest Night, Bea had been attacked and told to stay away from Knox Benedict but what no one knew was that Bea and Knox were actually married and the demand to stay away from him was not an easy request. Knox for his part gave his wife the distance she was asking for but only because she had been attacked and he thought she just needed time to deal it. He wanted to be with her, desperately, but their entire marriage had been kept a secret because Bea wanted it that way and he didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize her wishes. Knox was not expecting that Bea would keep her distance with no intention of reaching out to him. Bea had to though because her attacker was very clear that harm would come to Knox if she didn’t keep her distance and she loved him too much to risk harm coming to him. Bea also figured out that the attack was not about really Knox, rather is was about what she was investigating on behalf of Knox’s family business. So, she was going to give the attacker what he requested in appearance, she would keep her distance from Knox but she was going to keep her investigation going in order to figure out why she was targeted. If she was able to solve the mystery to who was behind the attack she might be able to end it all and have her husband back. Things are never that simple though and Bea was about to learn the hard way what it was like to deal with evil. I liked the characters of Bea and Knox very much and bonus, no insta-love here. They were a newly married couple but they were both serious individuals and had none of the puppy love going on that was in the first book. There was a bit of a second chance romance feel to their story and that was very nice. As far as the overarching plot goes, there was a little movement. I am still in the dark about the motivations of The Gentleman and there was a reveal about the true identity of one of the characters but I already figured that one out in book one. So, there were no big reveals for me or twists but Deadly Secret was enjoyable and I am going to continue with this series. This review is based on a complimentary book I received from NetGalley. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.

The streets of Charleston are filled with danger for Bea Jacobs. She's being stalked to keep her away from the love of her life, Knox Benedict. Who wants to destroy the Beneidict family and the women they love? Will this dangerous enemy succeed? Deadly Secret is the next story in the Sons of Broad series. The suspense and the danger ramps up as their deadly adversary becomes bolder. I emphasized with Bea. It would be terrifying to be stalked and threatened as she was. Knox is determined to protect her regardless of her protests. He's a force to be reckoned with as are all of the Benedict men. Tara Thomas kept me on the edge of my seat. The surprises just kept coming. I can't wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas is book Two in the Sons of Broad series. This continues to be a exciting suspense romance dealing with the mystery killer. This book has brought Knox and Bea into the forefront. I must say this book does keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to see what will happen next. This book does end setting up the continuing story into the next book called 'Broken Promise'. Excised to read the next installment.

This series is really interesting and you really need to read in order (not a standalone!) That being said, definitely want to pick this up and give it a read. This installment I started in the afternoon after working all night, took a short nap, and then continued reading until finished. I couldn't put it down! Knox is the middle Benedict brother and he is secretly married to Bea who was attacked in the first book and still being harassed and threatened. When these threats turn deadly their secret finally come out to their families and they continue working together on project from the first book (Tilly's dad). All this togetherness cements what was meant to be, love really does happen quickly in this family but it is a strong one. Wonderful characters and interesting story line. Another cliffhanger and looking forward to book three! **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

3.5 stars The first book in the Sons of Broad series was an okay read for me. I was glad that I enjoyed this book more than I did the previous one. The characters acted more mature, and I felt a connection between them even though this couple is already married, and how they met is told in a couple of sentences instead of a flashback. For me it wasn't necessary for me to really see how they met and because I was more interested in solving the case/mystery that continues from the previous book into this one. I am still not sure what is going on and why the Benedict family is targeted by this Gentleman. There were a couple of times the main characters didn't do anything with information that warned them. They kind of went head-first into a dangerous situation and it was obvious what would happen next. This total disregard to the warning was unbelievable to me and could've been handled much better. If the author wanted the characters come face-to-face with the bad guys, she could've found another more logical way to do it. This is one of my book pet peeves, especially in romantic suspense books, and that it why I rated this book 3.5 stars instead of 4. However, there was a twist at the end which has me excited for the next book in the series. I can't wait to see how this series will end and get all the answers to my questions.

I have been hooked on the suspense with the Sons of Broad series! I loved Bea and Knox and the secret they have going on. Bea was a little hard to like at the get go, bust she grew on me. I am usually not a fan of cliff hangers, but Tara does such a good job that I can handle it with this series. Has anyone figured out who the Gentleman is???? Gah I wish I could break this mystery. Bea and Knox go through a lot of turmoil and in the end are they really what each other needs? Find out with Deadly Secret! I am a sucker for this series!! Oh the drama

Bea is supposed to be an attorney and smart but she does the most dumbass moves.. my god I am being spoon fed crap, you knew who Jade was immediately, you knew who Tom was working for, and Jade warned Bea and she still gets in the car..come on!! This is book 2 in the Sons of Broad series. You have to read the previous books first or you won't understand what is happening in this one. There is a bigger story ARC that is going on for the whole series. This one is about Knox Benedict, the brother of Keaton in book 1, and Bea Taylor, who is the sister of Brent from the prequel novella's to this series. This one covers how Bea was attacked and what led up to it and the events after it. I had a really hard time getting into this one. I really liked the previous one and was hopeful with this one but I just couldn't connect with the characters in this one. That being said, the writing was still really good and the main story line is still good and leaves you wanting to know more. For me it was just a feeling of connection to the main characters this time. I will still read the next one, because I definitely need to know how this all ends up!! Especially with the slight cliff hanger at the end!

Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas was a suspenseful book. Although I hadn't read the previous one or the novellas, I didn't have many problems following the mystery in this one. Bea and Knox are complex characters that work well together once Bea comes to her senses and fills Knox in on what happened to her. Suspense, romance and a smoothly paced plot made this book difficult to put down. Ms. Thomas' descriptive narrative made it easy for me to imagine all types of scenarios about the Gentleman and his connection to the Benedict empire. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.

In the second book of the “Sons of Broad” series the Gentleman is once again in pursuit of his prey. This time it is Bea. Even though she barely survived the attack in the previous book of the series, it seems that her suffering is still not over and neither are her nightmares and panic attacks. And it isn’t only her life that she fears for, but also that of her husband, Knox Benedict, a husband and marriage that no one knows about. But with no end to the threats that she receives, will Bea be able to find out who is after her and why? Knox Benedict is devastated to see his wife being pursued by a psycho. What he doesn’t understand is why she is keeping her distance from him and drawing away. He is determined to find the person behind these threats and protect Bea till the death. But there is more than what meets the eye and there is a link between these attacks and his family’s past. But what is it? It seems that we are getting closer and closer to finding out the true identity of the Gentleman and the reason for his animosity towards the Benedicts and those they love. This series may be categorised as a romance, but I find it to be more of a suspense novel. Yes, there are a number of love scenes, but they definitely don’t overshadow the suspense and excitement. Can’t wait to read Kipling’s story!!! Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

In Deadly Secret, the pieces are starting to come together as to who The Gentleman is and how he is intertwined with the Benedict family. It has a lot of suspense mixed with romance to keep my attention and interest in reading what is going to happen next. I can't wait for the third and last book to see how Tara wraps everything up.

Great addition to the first book in this series. I really like Bea and Knox. I love how Knox would do anything for Bea, even stay away from her if that is what she wants. I was a little annoyed that it took until the end of the book before they did something about Tom. I also don't get how they don't know that Jade is their sister she looks just like them. I still have no clue who The Gentleman is. I can't wait to see how Alyssa and Kip get together in the last book. *Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this for my honest opinion*

Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas Sons of Broad Book #2 I had hopes that book two would be more to my taste than the first book in this series but came away feeling, once again, that the story was not for me and that perhaps it would appeal more to a NA reader or someone who has not read as many books as I have. I found the plot in need of more substance and depth. The H/h romance left me wondering why they were together at all since they didn’t seem to have much of a backstory or connection. The villain was evil but he, too, needed more information to be shared about him. All in all I found the story simplistic, issues were dealt with too easily, times I was to be worried I wasn’t and the only thing I came away with was wanting to know more about Jade…and perhaps the villain known as The Gentleman. Since I am interested in finding out about these two people I have given the book a bit higher rating than I first thought I would. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 2-3 Stars

Deadly Secret is the second installment of the Sons of Broad Series. It picks up right where the last book left off and follows the story of Knox and Bea. Knox is a one of kind, stand-up guy. He’s followed the rules his entire life. However, Knox has a secret. A secret that he would live and die for. He would do anything to protect his secret and just how far he would go is about to be tested….Bea and Knox were never supposed to be. They were rivals and fought each other at every turn. But somewhere along the way, their tension turned into an undeniable passion. Bea knew there would never be anyone else for her. When an investigation has an unexpected turn, Bea is forced to make a decision she never thought she’d have to. Keeping her marriage a secret has never been more important…. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It started off with a bang like the novellas that I’ve read from this series and had me positively hooked. I was captivated and intrigued by Bea and Knox. I loved seeing the two of them together and could tell that their feelings for one another were genuine. Just like the previous books in this series, Deadly Secret is filled with mystery and suspense. Once again, “The Gentleman” is up to no good and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Deadly Secret was a terrific read from beginning to end. The characters were smart and full of intrigue. I loved the mystery, suspense and danger that surrounded the story. Add in some romance and some seriously steamy reads, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a great afternoon read. Deadly Secrets will keep you on the edge of your seat right until the very end and just when you think everything is all squared away, you’ll be left with another cliffhanger that will have you begging to get the next book in your hands….

Deadly Secret Tara Thomas “For a brief second, she thought she was going to be fine, but the panic she’d tried to hold back clawed its way up her throat.” Honestly this book had me feeling like I was actually living the words that were popping off the pages. This book is like no other I’ve read in a long time. It will have your heart pumping, soaring and at times it will feel like it stopped. “Tick tock. Tick tock. As much fun as it’s been watching the two of you,” the voice said. “I’m going to call it a night. Pleasant dreams. I’ll see you again soon.” This book has you feeling hunted, protected, defeated, empowered, loved, heartbroken and hopeful. It is filled with mystery and secrets, a sense of family and disloyalty. You will feel like your heart is in a pinball machine. “I’ll do everything within my power to protect and keep you safe. I promise. I’ll do anything except live without you.” ***Tick. Tick. Tick.***

Darkly Secret by Tara Thomas, book two in the Sons of Broad series. A romantic suspense series. I would read this series in order since it's a continuation of a storyline in the first book. I've enjoyed the characters, dialogue and storyline. I look forward to reading more books in this series and more books by Tara Thomas.
