Loved this book! Kept up a good pace without sidetracking. Paranormal content. 609 pages. "Cat" is a clairvoiant girl who sees visions when she touches things. Falls in love with a vampire and gets tangled in the political power struggles of the vampire world. She learns that her powers come from a long line of ancestor witches. Her powers continue to develop as she works as a tour guide in haunted historical buildings in Florida. Just enough sex to keep me interested.

"deadville" is a easy, fun read and is FREE? Can you say bargain? I would have gladly paid to read this book, but you really can't beat it for free! As other reviewers have said, this book is fairly reminiscent of the Sookie Stackhouse series, but only as far as the subjects of vampires and werewolves are concerned.....and isn't pretty much EVERYONE into that right now? What sets this book apart is the author's unbelievable ability to paint a perfect picture of the wonderful characters and the "unusual" town they live in....and I have my suspicions as to old city what "August Springs" is based on! Ms. Daniels also has a seriously refreshing sense of humor and nowhere does she apply that humor better than in the intereactions and conversations between Cat and her best friend Kendra. Sections of this book made me actually laugh out loud! Here's hoping like HECK that Kate Daniels has a sequel to "deadville" in the works!

I enjoyed this book and would gladly have paid for it. Reminded me of the Sookie Stackhouse series. At over 600 pages I worried it might be long winded but it was action packed to the last page. Can't wait to read more from this author.

I really liked this book, it is nice and long at 609 pgs. I did enjoy the first 300 pgs better than the rest of the book. I wondered if the book was written by two different authors...

Overall I would say that Deadville by Kate Daniels is a decent book if you are into fantasy books that feature vampires, ghosts, werewolves and psychics. Pros: Deadville was a quick easy read even at 609 pages. It held my attention and kept me interested and wanting to know what happened next. Cons: While I liked the plot and thought parts of Deadville were unique there were also inconsistencies. Such as Cat dissolves into tears at the drop of a hat over everything going in around her then she is killing vampires in a bikini. Then crying again. Will has got to be the weakest vampire in literature and the most gunshot prone. My biggest gripe isn't the typos or the poor editing, which was numerous, but that you don't learn anything about the main character. Everyone in the book knows her family history except her and yet she never deems it worthy enough to find out what the fuss is despite having a folder right infront of her about her genealogy. The book simply ends as if in the middle of a chapter. If there is a sequel I wouldn't be opposed to reading it as long as it was free.

Quick and easy, in spite of the 600+page length. A fun, light paranormal read taken at face value, but extremely derivative of the Sookie Stackhouse series, even down to the character names and traits. In addition to the lack of original ideas and themes, the grammatical errors, bad punctuation, and overall lack of editing were one point, the heroine is even called the wrong name in a conversation with her mother....simply careless. These errors increase in frequency in the second half, as if the author were rushing to finish it. Good value if it's still free, but otherwise, save your money and read the Sookie books instead.

This actually was an OK book until the end. I hate mysteries that don't tie up all the ends. This book just stopped. No resolution, no explanation. It was like a timed writing assignment and someone said, "Time's up!"

This book is so like the True Blood books it's a joke. The main character is a clairvoyant instead of a mind reader, her vamp boyfriend is Will instead of Bill, the similarities are incredible. The editing is in need of work, and someone should have proof read it before publishing. Is Kate Daniels a pseudonym?

It's a pretty bad sign when neither author nor editor pick up on the incorrect use of "your" vs. "you're", "it's" vs. "its" etc. A reader can expect correct spelling and grammar, even if it is a free ebook!!

This seems more geared towards the young adult set & I wish that had been mentioned in the reviews or synopsis.
