Deal with the Devil by Evangeline Anderson

Luz Velez is a shapeshifter who can’t shift. Every time she tries to summon her inner wolf, she has a massive panic attack. Worse, her anxiety extends to the rest of her life. At twenty-seven, she’s still a virgin because attempting to have sex sends her into lockdown mode. She’s miserable and stuck—until Jude Jacobson comes along.

Tall, blond and dangerous, Jude is the most feared vampire in town and the minute he sees her, he wants Luz. Vampires and shapeshifters don’t date but he makes her an offer she can’t refuse—a blood exchange that will help her control her panic attacks and give her the life she’s always wanted.

Luz is desperate—she takes Jude up on his offer. But she doesn’t expect to fall for the darkly seductive vampire—or to be plunged into danger when her past comes calling. When Jude’s own dark secret comes to light, she begins to question her deal with the devil and wonder if she and Jude can make it…or if they’ll die trying.

I liked this as much as the Born to Darkness series! I really liked Luz and Aiden! They were both very unique characters - both physically very strong, but had shared life troubles. I wont spoil it, but, the synopsis really should have come with a disclaimer about sensitive subject matter so that readers will go in with a more understanding mind, or somebody who has a trigger won't go in reading this unaware.

Deal with the Devil is a standalone read. Luz Velez from age 13 has been through a fair amount of tragedy. Because of the tragedy she's a werewolf that cannot shift, has anxiety/panic attacks and since she can't shift her pack doesn't want anything to do with her except for the pack master, and that isn't a good thing. Jude Jacobson is a vampire and not just an ordinary vampire, when he meets Luz while trying to buy some property he's completely infatuated with her. After the meeting they have goes completely wrong, Jude invites Luz out for a drink and he's got a proposal for her. This was a fast easy read. I breezed through the book, I really enjoyed Jude's character, but Luz felt a little too meek and weak to me. I will mention for some readers there are several parts that may be disturbing. If you like hot and steamy you won't be disappointed. I would definitely be curious to see if Luz's brother Diego gets his own book, I really enjoyed his character in this book. Hope this helps!! Happy Reading!!!

Despite the fact that this book needed to be a bit longer, I think its worth a spin. The scenes are hot and the plot was nice. Luz seems to make snap decisions and likes to walk into obvious traps but when weighing my annoyance to that in comparision to the rest of the book it disappears. I also like the way she handles the sexual abuse issue Luz has. It doesn't just blink away and she is fine for the rest of the story. Jude is very delicate with her mental health and her. The only thing I do question is don't their names sound reversed? Like Luz is manly, while Jude should be the girl.....?
