In spite of having to recover from serious injuries from her fall down a cliff with O'nan, Josiah Reynolds is back to sleuthing. This time her friend, Irene Meckler, asks Josiah to investigate the death of her nephew which was ruled accidental. Irene has her doubts.

Along with her best friend Matt, and Jake Dosh, a physician assistant hired by Josiah's daughter, Josiah again makes the rounds of quirky characters that can only be found in the mysterious world of ante-bellum homes, bourbon and horse racing of Kentucky's Bluegrass region.

Good read as a sequel. Very likable characters, old and new. But if you haven't read the previous book,or if it's been awhile since you read the previous book, following the accident (attempted murder) and rehab is a bit confusing. Would be great to read them back to back.

Enjoyed the quirky characters and humor in this mystery novel. The cultural and historical details about Kentucky made this book much more than a really, really good mystery (which it certainly is)

The second in Abigail Keam’s Josiah Reynolds mystery series picks up where the first one ends, with Josiah recovering from her horrific fall off the cliff. She is battered and broken, facing a physical struggle to mend that may end up being harder than the loss of her husband. The body of her foe has not been found, so her daughter sets her up in Florida. Josiah is busy with pain management, physical therapy and bonding with her bodyguard when a friend asks her to look into the death of her nephew. Fun book!

Excellent read. Have devoured the whole series now. Finally, a protagonist in my age range who is fascinating. Love the glimpses of history offered throughout, and well known Southern customs. Well written, interesting characters who sometimes resemble people I know . Makes you want to become a beekeeper, sit on the porch and sip a mint julep.

Recovering from a fall that almost killed her doesn't stop Josiah Reynolds from helping a friend look into the death of a 15-yr old boy who apparently drowned. But did he actually drown by accident or was he murdered? It is up to Josiah to find out as she navigates the twists and turns of the second book in the series.
