Good book. This was an intriguing start for this series. It has just enough romance and mystery to keep you interested. I don't really like cliffhangers but I now have to read the next book and find out what Lucas really is.

Death Fricassee (Recipe for Death Book 1) By Tawdra Kandle Reviewed by Jaime Kurp I love the author's writing style. She knows how to get a reader wrapped up into her stories. Lucas is a professor that has retired and moved to Florida. But little does he know that after his retirement party his world is going to be turned upside down. When he moves down to Florida, he didn’t realize he would fall head over heals in love with his next door neighbor, Jackie. But there are secrets Lucas has that he can’t share and Jackie wants to know all of them. Does he tell her? This story has a little mystery with paranormal elements. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

A book chocked full of mystery, comedy, romance and a little mayhem stirred together for good measure. Jackie O'Brien has lived with the old folks in Florida since her grandmother passed away. They treat her like family and vise versa. They even put her down as their first emergency contact, since she is the youngest in the community. She writes a column in the paper about food dishes and about the books they are in. Lately she had been bored. But when the mysterious new neighbor Lucas Reilly moves in. She decides to try and see if he likes her. He does, but he's afraid... but of what? And those packages he's been getting, what's with those? Then a murder happens, who would murder a sweet a old man running a diner?

Lance has no idea what he is when he moves next door to Jackie. As she tries to figure out what her neighbor's story is, she is also trying to decide if they should date since they are the only two not of retirement age in the retirement community. Humor defines their interactions as Lance is jumpy and Jackie is wondering. Then murder occurs. I enjoyed this story and the characters. The retirement community crowd are funny as they try to hook up Lance and Jackie. Watching Lance and Jackie trying to figure each other out, especially Lance, made me laugh. He was freaked and Jackie clueless. The murder was not the biggest story line. It was the start of the relationship between Lance and Jackie as well as what happened with Lance before Jackie met him. This is a good set-up for the series.

I really LOVED this book!!! A mix of paranormal ,romance and mystery. Lucas is a out celebrating with some friends before a move and when he wakes up the next morning some strange things start happening to him.... When he moves to Florida he meets his new next door neighbor Jackie, He cannot deny he's attracted to her. Jackie has a amazingly funny ideas as she thinks about new neighbor, I found myself openly laughing a lot throughout this book! The buildup between Lucas and Jackie is intense and sweet with well written scenes, I have only read one other book by Tawdra Kandle so was eager to see if it was that book or her writing that drew me in... It was the writing!!! It's so well done! For the other series I started and this one I cannot wait to see where they go!!!
