Reason for Reading: Next and last in the series.Amazing! Absolutely amazing! A fantastic ending to the best manga series I have read to date. Volume 11 was intense with the death of two more major characters, one I saw coming, the other totally threw me for a loop. Everything builds up for the final showdown in Volume 12, which does not disappoint. I'm not going to say anything about what happens, but reading the entire series is well worth the journey to the final volume. A stunning, satisfying ending. This whole series has been a complete joy to read. Each book is intense and it has been 5 stars all the way for me. The duel of wits and logic between Kira and L is pure pleasure for any pundit of crime deduction. Mr. Holmes would have been kept on his toes by these two and Sir Conan Doyle would have appreciated the paranormal aspect of the story as well! This series would make a good start for someones first manga, especially if they are a crime fan, or if they are not into fantasy. However, if you already are a manga fan then this is an absolute must read series.

You’ve eased my boredom for quite a long time, haven’t you? Ah, the end of the series, books eleven and twelve. Wow. What a ride. It wrapped up just the way Ryuk said it would. This could have gone either way at the final showdown, and although the ending seems correct, even inevitable, it would have been interesting to see it go the other way. But I’m more than satisfied with how it turned out. I love this series, one of the best comics I have ever read. Incredibly methodical with fascinating characters, an original premise and really clean and sharp artwork. Things like this are rare. This series will be treasured for a long time to come. A masterpiece.
