Fast paced, laugh out loud funny, and colorful characters. Everything you want in a book and more! Can't wait to read more in this series!

I read this one because I loved the title and cover. Then after I fell in love with the story, I had to buy the second one which was just as good as the first. Well written and edited, a funny light hearted mystery, a dab of romance, a small town full of delightfully whacked out characters and a dog. This short story (less than 100 pages) was wonderful. I am hoping part three will be full length, with a lot more details on the people, their relationships, the town, and the mystery itself. Lizzie's,mother is mentioned in passing but never her father. I would like the dog to have more personality and a bigger role in the plot line also. I hope this new author has a great future in the literary world, her two short stories are much better then some well published books are.

This was a fun cozy novella, filled with suspense, romance, and murderous revenge.  Amos is the town's "cantankerous old coot", and when he was found shot in the head in the town square, it was not who might want to kill him, but who might NOT have wanted him dead.  He bullied everyone and was out to sue anyone and everyone.   Lizzie is his granddaughter, and Amos was in the middle of a lawsuit trying to take away her home and lands.  These had been left to her by her grandmother---Amos' first wife. So was Lizzie a suspect?  Then Amos' second wife was so happy that he was dead---could it have been her?  Then somebody burned down the second wife's house. Suspects were showing up everywhere.  The sherif and his partner in this small town, have actually enlisted Lizzie's help---and then her heart.  Cute short mystery.  There are three more books in this series, with book one leaving an opening for the second mystery to start right away.

I really enjoyed the dry humor in this book. While the character developement was a little lacking there was enough to keep me interested. The story line was good with a few neat twists. If you don't want anything too cerebral and just want light hearted fun read you will enjoy this book.
