Reviewed by Sefina Hawke for Readers' Favorite Death of a Collector by Jiwoon Choi is a mixed genre novel of murder and mystery. This book will appeal most to an audience made up of primarily adults, though many mature young adults may also find this to be an interesting read if they enjoy murders and mysteries. It's a complicated novel that uses fiction as a mask to show the hypocrisy of human beings in the cases of love, the good nature of a human being, and murder. The book focuses on a serial killer named Hidelton, who uses people, specifically one person, to achieve his own goals without having to feel any guilt. This eventually leads to the serial killer setting a trap for her in the name of love. Death of a Collector by Jiwoon Choi is a book that honestly perplexed me at first because it was fiction and yet it had a level of complexity that I have never encountered before in a novel. Yet this level of complexity is what made Death of a Collector by Jiwoon Choi so unique from any other serial killer novel because it truly explored the hypocrisy of human nature and its consequences. The more I read, the more intrigued I became by the concept. I found the guise of fiction in such an in-depth exploration to be truly unique and intriguing.
