Kelly Madison of K&D Realty tries to stifle a scream when she sees a hand about to grab her ankle. Spring has finally arrived in the ski-resort town of Bear Creek, much to the relief of the community, who have endured a winter of never ending blizzards. Kelly had just allowed her spirits to soar when her clients finally announce they are ready to make an offer on the one cabin they both agree on; that was until she stepped on the hand-the dead hand buried in the snow. Since her clients really want this cabin, Kelly and her husband, David, work with the local sheriff in solving the mystery of the dead hand and the suspicious disappearance of the cabin's owner, a famous actress. As she juggles clients with special needs and fights to get their escrows closed on time as well as helps in the local play production, she enlists McGraw/O'Grady, private investigators in southern California, to help in finding the missing actress, thought to have headed for San Felipe. It doesn't take much convincing to talk David into flying down to Baja California to meet her new friends, Jessica O'Grady and Roberto McGraw and visit their small community of San Luis de Comondu.
