Tallie Graver is lamenting her recent divorce to a first-class jerk while cleaning a window at the local Inn. Happy with her new cleaning business, she scrubs the dirty pane until it is clean enough to discover a dead body on the bed. His head is turned towards his back so that she can see he is definitely dead. In her haste to descend the ladder, she falls to the ground. After being chastised by a new detective, she learns that the police and coroner have ruled the death a heart attack. Unable to get any satisfactory answers, she begins to investigate yet another dead body. This is the third book in the series but the first I have read. I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read but one with a substantial plot and appealing characters. I want Tallie and Gina to be my best friends too. They are comical and likeable. They tend to get into mischief but that only heightens their appeal. I read this in a couple of days and will be reading the others in the series. I am certainly going to read other books by this author, as well. She has a series involving Ivy Morris and others. I received an eBook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion. This in no way affects my opinion or ratings for this book.

I loved it! I don't know if there is anything more to mention other than this was a great start to a new series. I enjoyed the characters, the conversational flow of the writing and the novel story-line. Tallie Graver was a well-to-do housewife who finds herself in the cleaning business after a nasty divorce. She doesn’t let that get her down, however. She maintains her joie de vivre and gets on with life. Unfortunately, she spies a lifeless body through the window of a B&B she is cleaning. Tallie and her good friend Gina decide to get to the bottom of the mystery.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading other books by this great author.

I received a free copy of DECEASED AND DESIST (Book 3 of the Tallie Graver Mysteries) in exchange for an honest review. Tallie Graver has a house-cleaning business and works part-time for her father’s funeral home. Tallie has a bad habit of finding bodies and getting involved in solving the murders; everyone in town makes sure she knows of their disapproval and takes the time to suggest alternative hobbies. When she finds a body with the head twisted around the wrong way, she calls the police. Her usual nemesis, the police chief, is on leave for injuries sustained on the job; his temporary replacement is extremely hostile and threatening. Then, the new nemesis forces Tallie into investigating when he insists the death was natural causes. When Tallie begins to look at possible motives, she finds out the deceased was a very bad man, and it would be easier to figure out who didn’t have a motive to kill him. Who did the deed, and why is the temporary police chief so insistent on refusing to investigate the death? If you’re a fan of the Tallie Graver series, you’ll probably enjoy this book. I haven’t read either of the prior novels, which may have caused me to lack sympathy for the characters. So, I’d suggest beginning at the series beginning if you’re interested in giving this book a try. #DeceasedAndDesist #NetGalley

A thoroughly fascinating read! This was the third installment in the series; however, it was the first that I have read. The details were woven into the book quite nicely. I was able to keep up with who was who and everyone's story. I must say, Tallie was an incredibly likable character. It was fun to surf through her inner thoughts and bear witness to her hijinx. I found her to be a very genuine character. Plus, she is just plain old funny! I especially loved her relationship with her best friend Gina and Gina's mom. They are a fun trio. I also enjoyed her interactions with Burton. Burton is the chief of police. However, in this installment, he is on medical leave. Because of this, there is an acting interim chief by the name of Hammond. As I said before, I haven't read the previous books, but it is quite clear that Burton and Tallie's relationship can be contentious at times. In this installment, their interactions are quite different than they have been in the past. I actually found them to be a quite hilarious pair. I enjoyed the fact that Tallie is not certain about her future yet. I found that to be an authentic detail. Not many people are sure about what the future holds. It is nice to see that reflected onto the pages. That being said, she does not come across as indecisive. The mystery was fantastic! Ms. Simon certainly knows how to keep readers on their toes! I almost got whiplash from all of the plot twists. The way Tallie went about looking into things seemed very natural. There weren't any parts that I found unrealistic of goofy. If you haven't read any of Tallie's adventures yet, what are you waiting for? I received a free copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
