I enjoyed the refreshing to read about a heroine who is older and wiser. It was also refreshing to read about a hero, is older. The characters were entertaining, from Mariah's parents to her sister, Victoria. In reading this book, there are some of us who will side with the parents in our thoughts of Mariah and Peter. While the other half, will side with Victoria. The story was refreshing and it was great to see characters from previous books crossover and be in this book. Excellent ending to a wonderful story. This is a keeper. Enjoy. HAPPY READING! ******vrnb******

Historically romantic with a little mystery/suspense and just enough intimacy to keep it interesting! Beautiful love story.

May-December and father knew best---thank goodness! These two are adorably perfect for each other. Mariah is the woman every man should want and parents should appreciate. However, her first finance jilted her and she basically became undateable. Years later, her father arranged a marriage for her, but failed to tell her until he was to arrive the next day for a wedding between them the day after that! OMG! Then he arrives and her immature, obnoxious little sister keeps looking for his son--he is too old, a point she tirelessly and shamelessly keeps making. Well, poor Peter. Mariah is a class act, despite maybe some disappointment. She believes he is her last chance to marry and tries to see what kind of person he is. As he is enlightened that he is thrust on her in such a manner, he gives her a way out of the engagement. His age and experience come in handy, but he seems a little blind about certain relations as did Mariah's parents as to her sister. Nevertheless, it was a story of discovery and unearthing the perfect qualities each could hope for after getting past their doubts and sabotage. It delights the reader and was very hard to put down.

December Heart by Merry Farmer is a fabulous historical romance. Ms. Farmer has delivered a well-written story. Mariah is pushing towards spinsterhood. Peter, older than Mariah, is in need of a wife in order to have an heir. Mariah and Peter's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and suspense. I enjoyed reading December Heart and it held me captive from cover to cover. I look forward to my next book by Merry Farmer. December Heart is book 1 of The Silver Foxes of Westminster Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

An Entertaining story from beginning to end and encompassing something not seen too much in historical romance. Lord Peter, Earl of Dunsford is fifty years old and fears he will never have an heir. Having been married in the past for over 20 years and his wife had lost many babes before she passed away, he agreed to remarry when his old friend from the House of Lords arranged he marry his twenty seven year old daughter Mariah. Mariah felt she was firmly on the shelf after having been jilted by her former fiance and made a source of gossip by the Ton. After meeting Peter and realizing how much older his was, she became determined to marry and make the best of it because she would be able to gain the freedom of a married woman. But as fate would often have it, when she and Peter were together their was a strong attraction and it seemed all would be well. Step into the picture Peter's awful nephew, Lord William who was a total wastrel and had expected to inherit until Mariah came into the picture. William became determined to split Peter and Mariah up by any means possible so that there would be no heir to upsurge his title. Full of many twist and turns and strong emotions, this story help my attention until the very end. What a delight to see an older gentleman in a story and both he and Mariah having a second chance at happiness. I cannot wait to read more in this series and want to thank Merry Farmer for stepping out of the normal younger H & H and bringing this story to life.
