Deception is an emotional read filled with sexual tension and intrigue! The action starts on the first page and doesn’t let up until the story is finished. Loved the sexy scenes, the author’s writing style, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book!

Reviewed by Kayti Nika Raet for Readers' Favorite Deception is the first in a romantic suspense series, Secrets, Lies, and Scandals, by Heather Walsh. While on a first date, investigator Katherine Collins is witness to a brutal assassination attempt where she may have been the intended target. Shaken and with her date, Ethan, now in the hospital, Kat looks into the case and discovers evidence that may lead to an old murder, a murder that she has a personal stake in. As she is trapped in a tightening web of lies and deceit, ADA Stephen Chandler is the only one she can turn to, but Ethan is his biggest romantic rival. Does Stephen’s intensity hide a deadly undercurrent? Not sure who she can trust and still inextricably drawn to Chandler, Kat must sort out the facts and her feelings before it is too late. Told from dual points of view with both Kat and Stephen at the narrative helm, Deception by Heather Walsh does a good job of slowly amping up both the romantic suspense and the tension of the case as it seems like everyone has a motive. Walsh's writing flows well and she crafts Kat as a plucky heroine who nonetheless has a good head on her shoulders. Stephen is a little harder to pin down. Kat seems to have a history with him, one mentioned vaguely. Because of their history, her desire is mixed with trepidation and I wasn't certain if he was an unreliable narrator. I enjoyed reading both points of view, and Deception clips along at a fast pace. Fans of this debut author will be eager for her next book.

Reviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite Deception by Heather Walsh mixes romance with suspense to introduce readers to a thrilling story that features lies, secrets, and scandals, a story that is every bit as entertaining as it is engaging. The story begins with action and a powerful hook. I enjoyed the fact that it started in the midst of action, and the question I asked myself when I started reading was whether the author would be able to sustain the same intensity of action throughout the story. Yes, she did, not slowing down for a moment. Readers are introduced to a subtle seduction that slowly escalates into an investigation accompanied by lies and intrigue. Investigator Katherine has just discovered new evidence in a six-year-old murder case and, what is worse, is that the ADA Stephen Chandler could be involved, so Katherine does everything to stay away from him as she probes into the case. But the more she tries to escape this man who is so hot and irresistible, the more determined he is to get to Kat. What happens when the truth is laid bare? Can their lives still stay the way they were? Deception is a brilliant entry into a romance suspense series that will captivate readers with the wonderful plot and gorgeous characters. It was fun to read about Katherine being attracted to a man she shouldn’t even trust. Heather Walsh’s gift for plot and character comes through this story in a compelling way. The writing is tight and it is sprinkled with many intense and powerful moments that will rouse the emotions of readers. This story is nothing but success, a great read in the genre.
