Overview

Imagine being trapped aboard the doomed Titanic on an icy Atlantic. . . with the walking dead. This fast-paced thriller reimagines the historical events of the fateful Titanic voyage through the lens of zombie mayhem. Captain Edward Smith and his inner circle desperately try to contain a weaponized zombie virus smuggled on board with the 2,200 passengers sailing to New York. Faced with an exploding population of lumbering, flesh-hungry undead, Smith's team is forced into bloody hand-to-hand combat down the narrow halls of the huge steamer. In its few short days at sea, the majestic Titanic turns into a Victorian bloodbath, steaming at top speed toward a cold, blue iceberg. A creepy, tense page-turner, Deck Z will thrill zombie fans and Titanic buffs alike.

This is a most excellent zombie novel! If, like me, you read tons of zombie/apocalyptic novels, you know how many mediocre, poorly edited, and just plain bad novels are out there. Well, this novel is a great example of what a great Zombie red should be! This novel had me from the beginning with setting, characters, and writing. The story line pulls you in, and there is a very good amount of Zombie Gore to make sure you don't forget what this novel is all about. The characters are well written and believable. I ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend this book to any one who enjoys plain horror or more focused Zombie novels. I hope the authors can keep up this level of writing!

First off, to all the anons who say this book sucks or was boring, just shut it. All this book is about is to entertain the readers. Not make them want to go to a history book and look to se if any of it happened. To the ones who have not read the book yet, you are in for a good alternate reality story of the historic event that took place over 100 years ago.

I highly recommend this book for fans of the Titanic. Keep in mind that it's a story with a spin. Actual events are portrayed just as it had happened. I read this book in one day. I have only done that with one other book in my life and that was years ago.  I highly suggest you read this book. It has a serious twist as to the protagonist. I was a bit disappointed with the ending but it was still predictable.

As a huge fan of both the tragedy of Titanic and zombies, I couldnt believe my luck with this book. The plot is amazing and very fast paced. The authors did an incredible job fitting the Toxic into the actual timeline of the Titanic.

I thoroughly enjoyed the well planned combination of Titanic and Zombies. The characters were believable and entertaining under what would at that time been an unbelivsble circumstance on any boat, much less the Titanic! Authors did not change the Titanic story, they enhanced it! Great bbook for fans of both stories. Good Read!

Alternative history can be fun to read, giving the reader an opportunity to play "what if" with the topic at hand. Usually, these alternative histories turn on a battle going the other way or a person taking a different action. In Deck Z, you have the Titanic on its (doomed) maiden voyage, but instead of the boat not sinking, it rather sinks with a boat full of the undead. To go further with the alternative history, Nazi Germany is often portrayed as being the power-hungry nation that will stoop to any level to achieve its aims. However, in this case it is the Kaiser's Germany that seeks the ultimate weapon against its enemies in the future World War I. In the course of battling the plague, a German scientist named Weiss seeks to reverse engineer the plague in order to combat it. What he develops instead is what he calls "The Toxic"; a zombie virus. Kaiser Wilhelm is anxious to get his hands on the Toxic to use on his Russian enemies, but Weiss has other ideas. He gets passage on board the Titanic with the intent of going to America to finish his work on developing a cure. Unfortunately, the Kaiser has sent an agent to find Weiss and bring back the Toxic. The authors have used historical figures and circumstances - even going as far as to perpetuate the story that J. Bruce Ismay ordered the Titanic to go faster - as bookends to a zombie story. It is very well done and gives the idea of zombies on the Titanic some credibility. BOTTOM LINE: A very fun ride for zombie enthusiasts. Highly recommended!

What a great read! It's an excellent blend of zombies and history. The captain is portrayed as a samurai wielding badass. Excellent idea for a story!

All Dr. Weiss wants to do is find a cure for the plagues. Unfortunately, the German government has other plans for his research so does their top spy. Therefore, he needs to go in hiding to continue his research. What could go wrong? An action packed, multi-level narrative leads characters and readers through turmoils and developments. Characters are flawed, often naively focused, interesting, and caring. Overall, an intense read.
