The reader will not be bored with this novel. The author has the unique ability to make everything come alive for the reader. This is a mystery that will have the reader on the edge of his/her seat. The main characters are both very interesting and will capture and hold the readers' attention. Human trafficking is not a typical topic for a novel, making this novel even more interesting for the reader; the topic is discussed with an obvious knowledge on the author's part of human trafficking. This is an inspirational novel that will be enjoyed by adults and young adults who enjoy reading a book that acknowledges the spiritual side of reality.3 stars

Defending glory is a clean romantic suspense with a touch of faith added. The author did a good job of sprinkling in information to reveal the story and keep you hooked. As the book opens, you're not exactly sure why Glory wants to open the retreat on the property she inherited. Even though she comes from money she seems very relatable and likable. Just as you’re getting to know the characters; the dead body shows up to bring in the mystery element. Mac is a disabled former FBI agent turned general contractor. Mac was a likeable character and I was intrigued by how the author peppered information about his past little by little so we got to understand him. He was a strong hero even though he was recovering from gunshot wounds and used the cane. I wasn't really surprised by the ending, the author sprinkled in just enough information where you see it coming. I like the secondary characters at the bed-and-breakfast and Mac’s friends from his old FBI days. There's definitely lots of action and just enough romance sprinkled in. I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. This inspirational book is a lovely story. Glory decides to move to Piedmont Island and use the property she'd inherited to build a retreat, a place where her teenage brother Logan will come to heal after his rehabilitation from a drug addiction. Hiring Mac, a disabled former FBI agent, now contractor, seems to be the best thing that could happen for her and they hit it off right from the beginning…until they find a dead body tied up to her dock. The mystery begins as all kinds of setbacks happen, including Mac's place getting trashed, Glory being stalked and threatened by a killer to where she needs constant protection. But the church-going community step up and provide a safety net. During these hardships, Glory has her faith to sustain her and the wonderful friends she's made. Unfortunately, due to a past incident, Mac has pushed away from his beliefs and continuously fights his needs for Glory and the church. This slow-paced romance builds to a blockbuster end and Ms. Albert ties up all the loose threads perfectly. I enjoyed reading her work and look forward to the next Anne Albert release.

Now this is romantic suspense at its best! Defending Glory is a wonderful combination of romance - and who dunnit! Mac is the perfect wounded soul. He has so much compassion for others, where's his heart on his sleeve, yet carries the world on his shoulders. As Glory and Pastor are the witnesses he needs, God gently draws him into the fold. It's readily apparent in hindsight how God's hand has guided them through everything, protecting them from harm, and leading them to where they need to be - just like He works quietly behind the scenes in all our lives. And Ms. Albert has a wonderful way of leaving the reader in the dark - with just a hint of light - to keep you wondering right until the end. I loved it and can't wait to read more of her work!

Ex-FBI agent Mac McKeown survived when his partner didn't and he leaves the agency, moving to Minnesota to start over. He begins work there as a general contractor, but one day everything changed in his plans for a "normal" secluded life. He takes a job working for Glory Palmer to do renovations on the cabin on her property, as well as start working on building a Christian retreat center for her. While checking out the property, they discover the body of Mac's nemesis, along with threats against Glory's life. This sets the stage for a thrilling roller coaster ride that readers won't soon forget. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres to read as well as write and Ms. Albert's telling of this tale did not disappoint. From the very beginning, the romantic tension between Mac and Glory had me hooked. Their tender romance mixed well with the suspenseful plotline; they went hand in hand. By the time the story ended, I was so drawn into the characters' lives that I felt like I personally knew Mac and Glory-such personable, likeable characters. Ms. Albert knows how to create despicable characters as well. Chills will crawl up and down your spine as you read this story; you won't be able to put this book down until you find out who the villain really is. Along with the wonderful character development, Ms. Albert knows how to give you the details you want and not bore you with unimportant ones that drag the story down. You will get a bird's-eye view of the town, but think of this bird also as a fly on the wall-because Ms. Albert's ability to get into each character's head is amazing. You get a true sense of who each character really is and you see how God moves in their lives. She answers all your questions and the only question you will have at the end is.when will her next novel come out? Definitely a keeper on my bookshelf.

This book was amazing! I'm a big fan of some big name authors who write nothing but suspense, mysteries and so on. I'd classify Anne K. Albert as the next one to watch out for. It's been a while since I had the privilege of reading a book that doesn't make it easy to guess the ending. Well in Defending Glory, the characters came to life throughout the pages and kept me guessing right to the end. Not only does Anne have a talent to spin a great mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat she has an ability to vividly paint pictures in your mind as you read. The descriptions of the character's physical appearance, settings, moods, and etcetera are magnificent The connection between the Glory and Mac was refreshingly clean and the pace of the attraction flowed smoothly. From the beginning, the plot sucked me in and I couldn't put the book away until I finished reading it.
