A lot can happen within 200+/- pages. There is certainly enough room for character development. The author could easily have dropped half of Colette's "defilement," and focused on developing Nuri's character. If more effort were spent on his anxiety and feelings of helplesness over the situation, rather than leave him out of it, the story would have been soooooo much better. However, the author left him out until the very end and then scrambled to give his character some depth. The story was flat and very onesided, the "erotic" aspect was forced, in every sense of the word, whether it was enjoyed or not. Colette's character drew a lot of conclusions about who Nuri was based on very little interaction between them. It was as if Colette made up this very romantacized idea of who she thought/hoped Nuri would be and "wow," he is all that she thought. I would love to see the author go back and rework it. Read, Nalini Singh's, Lord of the Abyss. Similar in that the male protagonist is a singular man/demon with repressed/unrealized emotions is suddenly confronted and confused by them. etc etc.

3.95 stars BRIEF SUMMARY Colette and her families are on their way home, when they decided to take a short cut through the woods. While on the path through the woods, they are captured by Zuri, a demon, who has been banished. Zuri, wants to use Colette and her sister as a sacrifice to appease his overlord, who has banished him from his world. However, his temptation of Colette upsets the overlord and brings about punishment. THOUGHTS This erotica paranormal will not disappoint a hardcore erotica fan. As much as I enjoyed this book, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but at one point within the book, there was so much sex that I could empathize with Colette by feeling drained and exhausted. I liked that this was a historical paranormal book; there are also no bad guys or sworn enemies to fight within this paranormal story. The moment Colette and her family were held captive started the story for me. Colette was surely the strongest member of her family, thus, sacrificing herself to Zuri, for their freedom. Zuri was surely a mysterious demon throughout the book and that added a nice appeal. Though he captured Colette, along with her family to appease his overlord, he knew he had to have Colette which upsets his overlord. I thought the story was fair and the sex very extreme. Why I found the sex to be too much at one point in the book, because Colette was being punished and it was continuous within the scene. Though it felt continuous, I don't think it took away or overshadowed the plot of the story. Story: FAIR Intimacy: D.R.I.P (Don't Read In Public) / GOOD Enjoyment: GOOD
