Demon Keeper by Royce Buckingham

There is a menagerie of demons in an old house where Nat has been trained to be a Demonkeeper. Seemingly inanimate objects in his house are really little demons that cause chaos if they are loose. Most of them are relatively harmless, like the ones that produce weird smells or make you stub your toe. But some can kill.

Nat is their keeper, with three mischievous minions for company, charged with preventing these creatures of chaos from wreaking havoc out in the normal world. Only a gifted demonkeeper can see and hope to control the hidden chaos so Nat has a thankless and lonely job.

Local boys accidentally release the Beast from the basement and the Thin Man is out there, hunting demons for his own evil purposes. No longer alone, Nat must team up with Sandy, the library assistant and Richie, a tough street kid to capture the deadly Beast before it's too late.

I want a minion!!! In this story, Nat, the main character has 3. This is a action packed story full of on the edge of your seat thrill rides. I love the house they live in. I want one. It has a few chuckles in it also. The story that is, not the house. LOL

A Fun and Enchanting Read! Genre:  Middle Grade Urban Fantasy Publisher Type: Traditional My Rating: *  *  *  *  * My Review: So I had a huge dilemma in rating DemonKeeper.  As I read it, I read it as a Middle Grade story and LOVED it!!!  It's such a fun and enchanting read!  But the main character is 16, putting DemonKeeper in the YA range.  As a YA novel, it falls short of the depth of character and story I expect out of YA literature.  But as a Middle Grade novel, it's perfect!  So I decided to categorize DemonKeeper as Middle Grade and rate it as such.  Yay for 5 stars!!!! So what did I love?  I loved the world Royce Buckingham created!  It's so creative and fun!!!  The house and all it's various occupants were amazing.  The ragtag group of Nat's demon assistants were perfect!  And while his nemisis, the Thin Man, was a bit flat, his minions were crazy interesting.  I enjoyed Nat's character growth and his developing relationships, both new and old; it's what makes this book truly spectacular.  The end made me cry and was sooooo very well done.  I have the next two books on my kindle and I look forward to seeing what becomes of Nat and his friends.   I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review; see more of my reviews on my blogspot blog, Known to Read.

DemonKeeper is an easy quick read, I say this because most of the 50 chapters had around three to five pages each. I was able to finish the book in one day. the story line was unique, as were the characters, the way the story is told does have sort of a quirky 10-13 children's book feel to it expect with some gore and a few characters dieing. Its a good book if you don't want to devote a whole lot of time in a novel. I would advise that you check this book out instead of purchasing it, just to get the feel of the book.
