Overview

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julie Kenner (aka J. Kenner) comes the third installment in the fun-tastic demon-hunting soccer mom series that began with Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom . . .

Once again, Kate Connor has a problem. Several, actually.

For one thing, her daughter has figured out that mom is a demon-hunter--and wants to be just like her when she grows up.

And there's that nagging suspicion that her dead husband has come back to life in the body of another man. Plus, her living husband still doesn't know her secrets.

Not to mention the fact that she's acquired a mystical item that the entire demon community seems hell-bent on reclaiming.

It's all in a day's work for this stay-at-home mom. But one thing is for certain: sometimes life in the suburbs really can be hell.

In her last battle with demons, soccer mom Kate Connor saved the life of her teenage daughter Allie. Now she must explain to her beloved offspring her vocation as a demon hunter and the truth about her child¿s father, her late spouse Eric who died in combat against the evil demons. As difficult as that proves, she fears that Eric¿s soul has been trapped inside the body of David Long, which implies use of taboo darkest magic.---------------- However, Kate has no respite to assist her daughter¿s adjustment and to analyze whether Long¿s theory is correct. Hordes of demons keep appearing demanding she had over the ¿stone¿. Having no idea what these malevolent beings are talking about, Kate ponders what was Eric doing before he was murdered as he seems to be the link in her current fiasco.---------------- The latest Confessions of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom (see California Demon CARPE DEMON is a fabulous tale of Buffy being an adult suburban single mom battling demons while trying to raise her family in California. The story line is told by the heroine, but her toughest battle ever is explaining what the hell is going on to Allie especially after the teen¿s entry into the demon war. Adding to Kate¿s woes is that every demon in the vicinity believes she has something that belongs to them and her fear and joy that Eric¿s soul is nearby. This is a great entry as mother and daughter discuss the legacy of soccer moms kicking demons to the death.---------------- Harriet Klausner

Goofy, definitely. And the protagonist is, in the tradition of many "cozy" murder mysteries, a doormat to family and friends- so if that annoys you, you won't like these (I can take that in small doses myself).

Really Enjoyable book. In this one Kate has to decide if her daughter's chemistry teacher - David Long - is really her dead husband Eric. She also has to stop a demon taking over the world and clean the house. Really cute series.

This series just gets better and better. The author has created an impressive cast of characters and has added more depth/seriousness to the overall storyline.

I started reading this late last night, and am already halfway through the book. I expect to be done sometime today, maybe while the kids are swimming. It has that "Buffy the Vampire" thing going for it, that is clever dialogue, and interesting story. Albiet, this Buffy is a 30 something married mother of 2. But thats what makes this so interesting. Its definitely a guilty pleasure for me.Only a third more to go, a day after starting, and though it is a guilty pleasure, it dawns on me, that remove the quirky plot, and the remainder of the book is average at best, and ho-hum at worst. But I still do enjoy a guilty pleasure every once in awhile.

This series keeps getting better. This time Kate is dealing with the aftermath of all the stuff that happened in California Demon. Daughter Allie knows that demons are real and that her mother is somehow connected with them. Kate has to confess her demon-hunting ways and of course, Allie is ready (she thinks)to join in. As they talk about demon hunting it inevitably leads to Eric, Kate's deceased husband and Allie's father. Kate discovers more about Eric than she wants to and realizes that he had not left demon hunting as they had both agreed. And she still wonders if rogue demon hunter David is really Eric in a different body.So things are confusing enough, when demons start attacking her, David and Allie demanding the release of some demon they have never heard of. Obviously, the demon community knows something Kate does not. This book is fun and fast. Even with all the action there is time to learn more about the characters and their relationships. I am really getting attached to some of them.

A fun book, lite and easy to read, but keeps you turning pages.

I really enjoy this series so far. This one was a bit slower at first, but lots of events happened and questions were answered I needed to know once it got going. I love the supportive characters in Kenners series. Eddie is so funny, i wish I had an "adoptive" grandpa like him. In the end however, I liked this book. Like most series books, there is always 1 book that doesn't compete as well as the others...on to the next book!

This is the third in the "Demon Hunting Soccer Mom" series and I have to say it didn't live up to the first one. While this one has its good moments, it is definitely sci-fi. The supernatural events are more elaborate and thus more unbelievable. I did still enjoy the character of Kate and the witty writing. I thought I knew the ending but was pleasantly fooled. While it is a nice progression in the series and I look forward to reading more, start at the beginning and the best of the series "Carpe Demon". Still, a thumbs up for Kenner. Keep them coming!

It's a good light read. The characters are so busy, it felt like I had done a good cardio workout by the time I was done.
